11.05.2022 Sisters With Helping Hands Inc is a registered food relief charity. We provide free meals to individuals and families short term, when they are struggling to provide nutritious food for themselves and their families due to illness, such as pre-natal and post-partum issues(pregnancy and delivery), serious illness, surgery, broken bones and serious medical conditions. For community members who need long-term support we run Queensland’s only halal meals on wheels program. We ar...e an organisation that is completely volunteer run, receive no government funding and 100% of all donations go towards providing food relief. If you would like to support our program to provide life-changing food support to those in need, please donate to our account. All donations are tax deductible (receipt provided), details are on the flyer. If you know someone who can benefit from our support, please contact us.

01.05.2022 The LNP has committed funding to a new swimming pool complex that would facilitate single-gender swimming lessons for multicultural communities, in Karawatha. Read more at: https://mynewsfeed.com.au/funding-committed-to-swimming-co/

27.04.2022 An awesome job by Rita Jabri Markwell and Mustafa Ally tonight hosting a panel discussion with the candidates for the electorate of Moreton(the 3rd most marginal electorate in QLD). The important first question in the discussion was the need for infrastructure for the community(see their responses in the video below). We first approached both Graham Perrett MP and Jim Chalmers MP offices in October 2021 to support us in the upcoming election. Graham Perrett offered to discuss... with Jim Chalmers a joint election commitment but nothing has happened yet. We continue to call on Graham Perret and Jim Chalmers to support a commitment from the Labour party(ALP) to provide lifechanging infrastructure for their communities, not just road works. An inclusive aquatic centre providing opportunities for all communities members, that can be found no where else in Brisbane. Demonstrating they can see, as the LNP does, the need for the development. We thank Councillor Steven Huang and Senator Paul Scarr for listening to the community and seeing how important this is. Jim Chalmers and Graham Perret have written us letters of support but we hope they can show the community how strongly they support an Aquatic Centre that is so needed. #jimchalmersmp #grahamperrett #councillorstevenhuang https://m.youtube.com/watch

19.04.2022 The official press release for the announcement our election commitment by the LNP. A big thank you to Senator Paul Scarr and Councillor Steven Huang - candidate for Moreton for their support to make this happen. We hope Jim Chalmers MP and Graham Perrett MP will be willing to also support this unique facility to provide much needed services for their electorates. The electorates of Rankin and Moreton are two of the most multicultural electorates in Queensland. These areas urgently need a facility like the Hurricane Stars Aquatic Centre to provide inclusive facilities for a diverse community with a variety of needs. #senatorpaulscarr #councillorstevenhuang #jimchalmersmp #grahamperrettmp

01.01.2022 RAMADAN IFTAR PACK PROJECT. Last Saturday was the final delivery of the iftar pack program for this Ramadan. Sisters With Helping Hands and Brothers in Needs volunteers had spent the whole of Ramadan organising, packing and distributing iftar packs for individuals and families 4-5 times a week. The volunteers had mixed emotions as we prepared the final packs, as everyone was going miss the fun of packing the packs each day. Everyone enjoyed working together to earn the rewar...ds of their efforts. Whether it was making the food, packing the packs or delivering the food, everyone felt that participating in the program made their Ramadan feel more blessed and special. We cannot thank enough all those who have supported the program. Generous members of the community donated money to cover costs, cooked and donated food, donated dates, donated their time to help make the packs and/or deliver the packs to at least 90 families on both the north and south sides of Brisbane. 7575 meals were delivered throughout Ramadan from the Sisters With Helping Hands office and also on weekends from the Australian International Islamic College. Visitors to our office would be shocked to see the number of packs being prepared each day and would be reduced to tears after realising how many families were in need of support. Visitors were always impressed by the hard work and dedication of the volunteers who provided this valuable program. The volunteers would give up 3 hours a day to pack the packs and then another 2 hours to deliver them. We made 390 packs a day on Wednesdays and Fridays and 500 packs a day on weekends. Each pack would contain a suhor pack of oats, honey, milk, fruit and snacks, as well as entrees, dates, hot food pack and dessert for each member of the family. Each pack was packed for each individual family, with the number foods inside the pack matching the number of family members. Every pack was delivered to all 90+ familys doors by 12 volunteer delivery drivers who divided Brisbane up into 12 sections and each driver delivered to a particular area. Packs were given for free to individuals and families who meet the requirements of receiving a pack, which was - that the no one in the household was working or receiving government benefits. The volunteers were deeply touched by the messages of gratitude they received from the recipients throughout Ramadan. We enjoyed working together with a variety of different organisations and businesses who helped to support the packs. At the end of Saturdays packing, Brothers in Need gave all the volunteers a present to thank them for their hard work and a gift voucher from Sams Pizza.
