22.01.2022 My face when I hear people about fad diets not working anymore Oh, you started putting on weight when you stopped doing the 5:2 diet? How interestin...g! Oh, you started putting on weight when you started eating carbs again? Unbelievable! Oh, starving yourself for a weight loss challenge and exercising twice a day made you binge after the challenge and you ended up putting on more weight than before you started the challenge? Wow I didn't expect that!! Strategies are all well and good (except for that last one), but trying to implement a strategy without knowing the principles behind improving your body is like driving a car without knowing the road rules! Now we've all fallen victim to a diet or two and I know that your intentions are good, but If this is you and you're tired of not knowing what to do, you need to learn the principles of how to change your body FOREVER! You need to have a good understanding of what (and how much) you're putting into your body and how that is going to effect you! 22.01.2022 Discover why your weight fluctuates + update on my own progress Hey team! This is a really important concept that you need to understand to get back in cont...rol of your weight! Your daily fluctuations are going to generally be one of two things - water retention & food weight! If you have a late dinner + dessert, then you're going to have more food in your digestive tract which will cause a heavier weigh in than normal. Similar to if you did a weigh in with your phone in your hand. Or If you have a large serving of carboHYDRATES then you're going to be holding onto more water because you're more HYDRATED. Neither of these mean you've put on any body fat and weighing in heavier doesn't require any panic as long as you understand why. Another concept worth knowing is that 1kg of body fat contains approximately 7000 calories. I dropped 2.6kgs in about 5 days. This wasn't because I ate 18,000 calories less than what I needed (7,000cal x 2.6kg). It's because I was having almost half the carbs I have been used to so I wasn't holding on to as much water as usual. 17.01.2022 NUTRITION MADE SIMPLE Nutrition doesn't have to be so complicated for fat loss, muscle gain or just improving overall health Regardless of what you're try...ing to do, these 3 principles should always be a priority. 1. EAT YOUR DAMN FRUITS & VEGETABLES! Packed with fibre, water, vitamins & minerals and many other compounds that have amazing health benefits, AT LEAST a third of your plate should be covered in veggies. Find out what you enjoy but also be open to trying other vegetables. If you don't like many veggies, be creative and start adding them with other foods to make them more palatable. 2. Listen to your body! When you're hungry, eat. When you're full, be an adult and save your food for later. Simples The only hard part about this is that things like sugar, stress, alcohol, caffeine, smoking, lack of sleep etc. all play such a big role in your internal cues of hunger and decision making. That's why improving your sleep, hydration and managing stress effectively are crucial to your health goals! You can't be an UNHEALTHY person trying to lead a healthy life. You need to become a HEALTHY person that leads a healthy life every day! #facts 3. Plan your food! Now I don't encourage my clients to not eat out or cut out "junk" foods they enjoy, because I don't think it's sustainable long term. Instead, I teach my clients to plan ahead, budget their overall calorie intake so that they can have their cake and eat it too! This is my home made poke bowl. It was pretty amazing. Chronic stress has a huge impact on your overall health and will negatively affec...t your body in a variety of ways, which may ultimately lead to your results going backwards! Some include: Low motivation to exercise Poor decision making Increased water retention & inflammation Poor sleep Cravings for high carbohydrate foods Weight gain Decreased Insulin sensitivity Poor performance in the gym So instead of thinking that exercise is only beneficial if it's high intensity, go for a nice gentle walk and actually relieve some stress instead of adding more to the body!
