17.01.2022 The 2020 VET in Schools Conference is now only 1 week away at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. This annual conference is the highlight of the Skills Strategies International calendar. This year's conference theme, "New Ways, New Methods" will provide VET educators interactive ways to integrate New Ways and Methods to enhance their VET learning program. The Conference will also feature local industry presentations from Screenwest - Creative Industries, Showroom X - Retail/Business and HP - IT. They will provide the latest information and trends for educators to utilise when training their students. 13.01.2022 COVID19 has provided opportunities to explore Innovation. This was evident when Skills Strategies International hosted a Virtual Workplace Program for a group o...f students at Comet Bay College. This program ran for 6 weeks and allowed students to learn and work on a project, in a real world context. Students made contact with their Industry mentors on a weekly basis via Zoom. Tourism students worked with the WA Visitors Centre Perth to design and create Tourist Information sheets. The Business and Events students worked with the City of Rockingham on events planned for the launch of the new Youth Centre that will open in February 2021. The students impressed industry representatives with their ideas, creativity and attention to detail. The student ideas will be utilised by both organisations. Congratulations Comet Bay College! 08.01.2022 Yesterday a proud day at Coodanup College with 12 students graduating with a Cert III Micro Business Operations qualification, a first for WA secondary school students. This course was a gamechanger for the youth in Mandurah. Youth Unemployment has been a stubborn and constant issue in the local community. This qualification will provide these students flexibility not only for their career pathways but also entrepreneurial options that can enhance the economic growth of the Peel region. It has provided these young people the opportunity to learn, explore, create and be mentored in a safe and supportive environment to devise new ideas for products and services that will benefit the community for many years to come.
