14.05.2022 What a great Band B2M were. A little known fact was that they were one of the most active International touring acts to come of of the NT, with tours to China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Ireland and multiple visits to Timor Leste. Have a listen to Parlingarri below: https://open.spotify.com/track/1lfhmhlrzKO81QrMLwkYAa

27.04.2022 This album would have charted on Aria charts if it had of sold through Aria registered stores rather than selling mostly through remote community stores. Gapu Damurrung was a watershed album and Saltwater band are one of the great bands to come out of northern Australia and certainly one of the under recognised bands in the Australian music industry.

23.04.2022 Yes its TRUE! Barunga 2022 has been re-scheduled to August 12th to 14th. This decision has come about due to the extensive community lock downs across the Big Rivers Region which began in early December 2021. It has not been possible to visit Barunga or hold a committee meeting because of the lock downs we thought it not appropriate to be discussing with the stakeholders (community, health centre, school, police, local businesses etc) the organisation of the festival at a time when everyone was focused on broader community health and well being.

18.04.2022 Ego Lemos is a leading Permaculture practitioner in Timor Leste and a good friend of Skinnyfish Music. With all the troubles in the world between war and climate change we need more people like Ego to both heal the earth and calm our souls with such beautiful music as Balibo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug0PXjI1Sng

23.01.2022 A few years ago we started a second label called Settle Down Records. It's becoming the most incredible force as a complementary label, and is inpiring -All these artists - Caiti, Serina, Stevie, Phoebe and James constantly write music constantly, come up with new song ideas, tracks, videos, shows with a lot more to release over the next few years. Next month we are involved in Darwin Festival shows with the Settle Down Sisters | Darwin Festival, Kuya James' Pinoy Street Party | Darwin Festival and Streets of Darwin | Darwin Festival. Please try to come to one of these if you can!

23.01.2022 Smoking Ceremony released by SkinnyFish Sound System was created to encourage ‘a society that can move forward with respect and mutual understanding.’ Synth-driven track opens with Tiwi RnB group B2M singing a traditional chant which is commonly sung during smoking ceremonies in their community in Wurrumiyanga. Emotional and hard-hitting verses from Butchulla MC Birdz, and Gumbaynggirr rapper Tasman Keith follow, lending a diverse and impactful edge to the track. Keith says t...he idea for the track came initially from SkinnyFish and B2M, where he and Birdz were brought in to add a collaborative power. The fact that all artists are from different Indigenous nations across Australia, they wanted to send a strong message in the way that traditional sound and language from the Northern Territory can work with hip hop from communities further south. "For us as artists living where we do, hip hop is our culture as a lot of us don’t have access to our traditional ways still around, so to be able to mix the two is very important, he said. Throughout Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, the smoking ceremonies are seen as a foundational tradition with the intent of cleansing malevolent spirits and protecting family, friends and country from any harm. It’s also a way of honouring ancestors and the country, both land and sea.

14.01.2022 Wildflower Band. So good to have Jill and Jean working with Caiti Baker back in #StudioG this week. They are working on a few different projects here including a children's song initiative, and also writing songs for a new album in an all women collaboration next year.... Jill has always taught, written and mentored these younger women and her knowledge of traditional songs and stories is rich and beautiful.

11.01.2022 The music on this collage of footage from Galiwin'ku is the orginal demo that Dr G Yunupingu Cal Williams and I made in 1996 on a 4 track cassette recorder. G played the bass, the guitars and sang the lead and backing vocals after all his brothers had gone home from a day of rehearsals. It appears on the BLU-RAY of the film but very few people have reacted to it so we thought we would post it so everyone can take it in. Please enjoy Michael H
