The clients asked if we could supply and install some matching beadings around the kitchen cabinetry, sliding doors, bottom of some window frames and the front door which of course we were more than happy to do. Both have their pros and cons. A benfit of being the oldest company to supply and install workshop prespray painted skirting boards is that we have the most experience with both. Despite the adde...d difficulty applying oil based paint and the much longer drying times, we believe it is the better paint it provides the durability and strength skirting boards require and the thicker smoother finish makes cleaning much easier, water based enamel is not used in the building industry . 05.01.2022 Heres another Skirting Innovations TOP TIP! If youre installing skirting boards over tiles, it is always a good idea to machine out a groove along the back/bottom edge of the boards. Grout almost always goes up the walls and will push the skirting boards out from the wall slightly. We have made it a rule to do this on every job, especially with tiles.... 05.01.2022 Here is a few close up photos of the technical, behind the scenes aspects we do on every job. To start with, any walls longer than 5.4 meters (our standard size boards)will require a join. Here are close up photos before the join is filled, a photo half filled top and bottom and then the finished product filled completely top to bottom and the join touched up and blended in(i tried to use a knot in the flooring bottom right for a reference point of the join). Secondly you c...an see all the skirtings have the backs machined down and a small bevelle put along the bottom edge, again we do this on every job it allows me to install tge skirting perfectly level against the wall. Plaster walls are thicker at the bottom as the wet plaster dries it collects at the bottom of the wall. Lastly all joins are mitred and scribed here is a scribe cut out. See more
