24.01.2022 Great summary of air taxi and landing infrastructure developments. We will have some exciting partner announcements facilitating Skyportz sites in Australia very soon. #EVTOL #airtaxi #uberair #skyportz #skyports #uam #aam https://pgj.cc/MCn10W

24.01.2022 First delivery flight to Picnic Island with oysters and champagne (of course) in conjunction with @tazdronesolutions

24.01.2022 Regulatory constraints to commencing Uber Air taxis have resulted in one of the leading partners, Pipistrel, to wind back on aircraft development for passenger eVTOLs. It makes sense to focus on heavy lifting freight drones as a first step as flight testing will be easier in all jurisdictions to get approval for if lives are not put at risk. Crawl before your walk before you run.... However, there is a need for politicians around the world to now to do the hard work that come...s after the media announcements - the development of policy to enable air taxis eg State planning regulations to guide Skyport development. This is certainly not happening in Melbourne yet and we are one of just three test cities for Uber Air. City of Melbourne’s only current policy is to remove the only central city helipad that currently exists in Australia (at Batman Park). Go figure! #melbourne #uberair #evtols #uam #smartcities #victoria #cityofmelbourne https://pgj.cc/wv92AC "Pipistrel remains committed to Uber Elevate, but will ‘reduce intensity’ of air taxi development - evtol.com"

22.01.2022 One of Tesla’s biggest investors has just become one of the biggest investors into German eVTOL air taxi company, Lilium These guys are not in the Uber Air stable of aircraft manufacturers and will probably ultimately be a competitor. This raises interesting questions about landing sites and whether operators will have exclusive sites. Do we want multiple networks of landing sites for multiple air taxi operators? At Skyportz we are remaining neutral on this issue for now as ...we wait to see how things pan out as the move from prototype aircraft to certified commercial operations progresses. #evtol #uberair #aam #uam #aviation #smartcities #skyportz #skyports #evtols #aerospace #infrastructure https://pgj.cc/gjnn4g

19.01.2022 There are billions of dollars flowing into aircraft development for air taxi services but the issue of landing sites is only now starting to be addressed. At Skyportz we are working with the property industry to assist those who want to be first movers. Bear in mind there will be limits in every city to the number of permitted skyports. Those who own the landing sites will effectively own the sky. https://pgj.cc/UltWJm

18.01.2022 While I believe the Victorian State Government and City of Melbourne really need to get their acts together if we are to be a world leader in urban aerial mobility, the Federal authorities and agencies (CASA, Air Services, Dept of Infrastructure and Transport) are doing an amazing job. These Federal agencies are preparing Australia for a new age of aviation. However, without the support of the State and Local Governments we will never be able to establish the land based infrastructure we need. The will is there within the property industry to be part of all this but we need the policy development to be started ASAP. #infrastructure #smartcities #uberair #skyportz #mobility #skyports #evtol #uam #aam #drones https://pgj.cc/5U43pw

18.01.2022 It really is like being back in Wright Brothers days as over 300 startups race to design the first commercial electric vertical take off and landing air taxi. The designs and engineering are all wildly different but many are proving capable. A common design with many prototypes is to incorporate a wing to reduce power consumption and increase speed in horizontal flight. This involves a complex design to tilt the rotors between vertical to horizontal on take off and landing. I...t can be done but it is a big step between prototype and commercially certified passenger aircraft. Billions of dollars are being thrown at the front runners. It will happen soon and once the first aircraft is approved the world of aviation and mobility is going to change in fundamental ways. At Skyportz we are preparing the infrastructure to support the industry. #airtaxi #evtol #uam #aam #drones #uberair #skyportz #skyports https://pgj.cc/yNypbg See more

14.01.2022 Skyportz Freight is working in Tasmania to deliver our first remote drone delivery trials. Ultimately this will progress to heavy freight drones and then moving into urban areas. If you are involved in freight/logistics/transport check out what is already happening in Canada if you want to predict how things are going to pan out in Australia #transportation #aviation #evtol #freight #skyportz #logistics https://pgj.cc/rzcXv0

13.01.2022 Skyportz first delivery drone flight in partnership with Taz Drone Solutions Freycinet Marine Farm oysters and Devil’s Corner wine were delivered to Picnic Island, Freycinet, Tasmania. Australia. This has been a first baby step in the development of what will be a heavy lifting drone delivery airline and our next flights will be far more ambitious- 150km out to Flinders Island.... Footage from this week captured by Paul Hoelen Photography and Luke Tscharke Photography will be edited into a video clip soon. #drones #dronedelivery #skyportz

13.01.2022 Nothing too sensational in this story- of course the establishment of an air taxi service is going to fail if the noise is such that the community does not want it. Good news is that all the advanced prototypes are significantly quieter. There is still a lot of work to do on the social licence for inner city operations which is why Skyportz is also pursuing regional and industrial park landing facilities. #Uberair #skyportz #skyports #uam #aam #drones... https://pgj.cc/nd0PJb "Uber Air plan raises alarm on safety, noise, planning risks"

11.01.2022 I have recently been invited to Chair the Urban Aerial Mobility working group of the AAUS - Australian Association for Unmanned Systems We have a major summit in the early stages of planning for 14/15 July 2021. With the spotlight on Melbourne for the Uber Air trials this is a great opportunity to showcase this new industry and where we are at. Check out the programme and get in touch. In particular we would love to get some eVTOL aircraft to Melbourne for demonstration flig...hts as part of the conference. 07.01.2022 Securing our existing helipad in Melbourne which has operated for 50 years without incident should be the very first step in developing an air taxi service. New sites which fit all the criteria will be very hard to find. https://pgj.cc/v8NJ6s #uberair #skyportz #skyports #uam #evtol #aam #aviation #drones #aerospace

05.01.2022 All the big investment is flowing into the 300+ electric air taxis currently under development. All of which will be useless if they have nowhere to land. This article explores some funding ideas to establish landing networks. At this early stage Skyportz is working only on design and approvals (not building) with property partners. This means we can operate on a very lean budget as we prepare the landscape for when the investment shifts into the physical infrastructure. Skyportz will become tolling gateways to any location, without the expense of building roads. When the time is right, the aircraft are certified, the Skyportz networks will be ready to build. #skyportz #skyports #airtaxis #uberair #evtol #uam #aam #aviation https://pgj.cc/oaJApp

03.01.2022 The long term goal for urban aerial mobility is an inner city network. At Skyportz we are working with Arup to assist property clients to future proof their developments. In the shorter term the opportunities will be in industrial land where Skyportz approvals will be easier to attain. We are looking for city fringe industrial sites ideally in excess of 4000m2 to partner with (vacant land or warehouse rooftop sites). These sites will be functional as both drone delivery and passenger air taxi hubs. #property #uberair #commercialproperty #uam #developments #uberair #skyportz #skyports https://youtu.be/HRDsnaiTa_4

02.01.2022 The Tasmanian Government (and in particular Michael Ferguson Minister for Infrastructure and Transport) has shown great support for the Skyportz partnership with Tazdrones to commence drone delivery trials and establish air taxi routes in Hobart to destinations fronting their waterways.

01.01.2022 Director of Skyportz Clem Newton-Brown OAM joins #TheInformer’s George Donikian to discuss the future of transport and what that could entail.
