12.01.2022 Concert 1: Bella voce Saturday 19th October at 10 11.15am in the Solothurn Chapel, 366 Reeseville Road. These talented ladies Arioso Chamber Ensemble will be the first to feature in the Viva Vivaldi Festival Maleny. Judit Molnr (Hungarian soprano), Margaret Caley (baroque violin), Belinda Manwaring (baroque cello) and Janet Brewer (harpsichord) will be performing Vivaldi soprano arias and instrumental sonatas. 12.01.2022 Concert 2: Amici in Armonia Viva Vivaldi Festival Maleny Saturday 19 October, 1.30 2.45 pm at the White Eagle Lodge, 19 Tesch Road, Witta. Featuring these lovely friends in harmony. Here they are: Amanda Cole (mezzo soprano), Kim Kirkman (violin), Anne Bowyer (cello) and Denise Steele (spinet) rehearsing their selection from Vivaldis vast repertoire. Read on to find out more..We all know Vivaldi as a composer, but he was also an amazing violinist. He would lead orc...hestras and play wonderful solos in concerts and also in the middle of operas as required. Seeing as though we was a master of the instrument he was always asked to write violin concertos for well-heeled violin-playing tourists who would swing by and want something original to take back to their country when they visited Venice. He wrote hundreds of these. He also wrote violin sonatas. These are less demanding than the concertos both in technical skill required and in accompanying forces, but by no means less beautiful and interesting. The violin soloist is accompanied by a keyboard player and a cello. Kim will present two of these in this concert. Opus 2 numbers 1 and 4. Amanda Cole, mezzo-soprano, will sing excerpts from three cantatas as well as some of the arias from Vivaldis Stabat Mater. Vivaldi had a muse. Annina Giro was a young mezzo-soprano who was even more famous than him in the world of opera. Vivaldi wrote many pieces for her, including these works. The music is always kind to the singer and creative in a way that shows the red-haired priests fatherly affection for the young singer. See more
