25.01.2022 We had the pleasure of interviewing Senator Kristina Keneally She has her own Australian migrant story. Born to an Australian mother and an American father, Kristina grew up in the United States. She worked on the floor of a fibreglass factory during her university studies to help pay for her education. She moved to Australia in 1994 after she met her husband, Ben. She joined the Australian Labor Party in 2000. A Member of the NSW Parliament from 2003, Kristina was the 42nd P...remier of New South Wales and the first woman to hold the office. Since then she has been CEO of Basketball Australia, hosted shows on Sky News, served as an Adjunct Professor at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management. She is now the Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, Immigration and Citizenship. We will post the video soon.

19.01.2022 COVID COMMUNITY CARE PROJECT WRAPS UP: Our project started when the Covid pandemic forced a lockdown in Sydney of regular services that help those in need loca...lly. As many local organisations were forced to close, we came together to help individuals and families that had lost jobs and needed urgent assistance. Many students, temporary workers and asylum seekers on bridging visas who were not eligible to receive Government benefits contacted us for help. For the last 6 months, on a Sunday and Wednesday, the Covid Community Care Project has collected donations and assembled boxes of groceries and food to feed a family for an entire week. Thousands of boxes have been delivered by volunteers to hundreds of homes across Sydney. Our project wraps up this week as many services have resumed full operation in local areas to help those who need it. We are grateful to all the generous individuals, business and religious and welfare organisations that donated to the Covid Community Care Project in the last 6 months. A very special thank you to Sujan Selventhiran of the Tamil Resource Centre for his assistance in supporting our project by managing the accounts and for giving us the space to run the project through his business Yaarl Function Centre Pendle Hill. 12.01.2022 PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT OUR LADY OF LEBANON CATHEDRAL NSW Health is directing anyone who attended Our lady of Lebanon Cathedral in Harris Park to immediately self-isolate for 14 days and come forward for testing even if they are not experiencing symptoms if they attended on: Wednesday 15 July 5.30pm Mass... Thursday 16 July 6pm Mass Friday 17 July 1pm Funeral & 6pm Mass Anyone who has attended the church since 15 July outside of these specific times should also closely monitor for symptoms and get tested if they begin to feel unwell, no matter how mild their symptoms are. The alert has been issued after a confirmed case linked to the Thai Rock restaurant cluster attended the church on the four occasions outlined prior to being diagnosed. Two additional cases, parishioners who also attended services on these days, have now also returned a positive result for COVID-19, both of whom are in isolation. NSW Health is working with the parish to contact worshippers who attended and signed the attendance sheet. The church has undergone cleaning but will remain closed. Western Sydney Local Health District is setting up a pop-up clinic in the car park of Our Lady of Lebanon Cathedral from tomorrow for the next four days at 9am - 4:30pm. Clinics are also available in the area at Stocklands Merrylands and Auburn Community Health Centre and walks in clinic are also available at Westmead, Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals. NSW Health is reminding those wishing to attend church services to adhere to social distancing advice and practice good hand hygiene. Anyone who is feeling unwell should avoid public gatherings and workplaces, self-isolate and get tested immediately. NSW Health continues to advise against group singing and chanting in religious services, including choirs, given the high risk of transmission associated with these activities. This is particularly important at this time as NSW responds to a number of COVID outbreaks. 09.01.2022 Seventeen new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8.00pm last night, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3,496. There were 22,032 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 25,139 in the previous 24 hours. NSW Health is calling on people across the state to redouble their efforts to stop the virus spreading.... Key messages for the community are: Avoid non-essential travel and gatherings. Of particular concern is transmission in venues such as hotels and restaurants, the gym and social gatherings. Anyone feeling unwell even with the mildest of symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat must seek testing and self-isolate until they get the result. Stay at home, and do not go to work or catch public transport until you are cleared of COVID-19 At all times stay 1.5 m from other people. Dont go anywhere there is crowding. Clean your hands regularly with soap and running water for 20 seconds or use alcohol base hand rub. Cough and sneeze into your elbow. Dont host, or go to, a gathering of more than 10 people at home (not withstanding that the legal limit is 20 people). Consider using a mask in situations where you are unable to social distance, particularly indoors. See more
