25.01.2022 When it comes to tiling, there is a world of options out there. The most common types are ceremic and porcelain. Ceramic tiles are clay based and are usually glazed over. Suitable for light to moderate traffic, they are generally a cheaper option and can be used on walls and floors.... Produced at higher temperatures, porcelain tiles are harder wearing and less absorbent when compared to ceramic tiles. As they have their colour running through them, chips are less noticeable. Both can be rectified, which means they have been cut to near exact dimensions. This process allows finer grout lines, giving your tiles a modern look. In addition, they usually have a fine bevel around their top edges, reducing risks of chipping. There are also glass, natural stone, cement, resin, metal tiles... You name it! It is important to investigate if they are suitable for the area they will be covering. Tip #1: when selecting tiles, try to select something that is not the ultimate trend, but timeless instead. Replacing them is always a costly exercise. Tip #2: for wet areas, specially bathrooms or around swimming pools, slip resistant flooring should be selected accordingly.

Waffle Pod slabs are built on the ground rather than in the ground and eliminates trenching. This system can reduce waste, less soil disturbance and minimise excavation. 19.01.2022 | We are underway at Ballina Street residences, and the first stage of demolition is asbestos removal. The client had to engage a licensed specialist demolition crew to remove the asbestos which is common in older properties. This is a delicate operation and ensure you use a licenced asbestos removal company for these works. The name Karrinyup was originally derived from the word Careniup, a Noongar name for a nearby swamp, which means "the place where bush kangaroos graze". Inspiration for this design has been taken predominently from the International style movement. Hosting parties, having kids around or simply enjoying a swim after a long day at work would be the dream for many. But as many good things in life, it comes with a price. Maintenance. A word that scares and puts people off the summer dream. If you are willing to embark in this adventure, here are some tips for you.... 1. Skimming: it’s very important to skim your pool constantly. If uncovered, you need to do it more regularly, ideally, every day. Floating debris are easier to pick up, but once they sink, it’s harder to remove and they provide the necessary nutrients for algae to develop. 2. Scrubbing: you should scrub all the tiles once a week to minimise calcium and algae build up. 3. Vacuuming: after scrubbing of all tiles, the pool should be vacuumed. 4. Filters: there are two types of filters, cartridge, and sand. Contrary to what you might think, cleaning the filters more than recommended can actually be bad for your pool health. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. 5. Testing and maintaining the water chemical balance: the ideal pH would be around 7.4 7.6. It is also important to check other elements, such as alkalinity, chlorine, and calcium hardness. 6. The existing house will be skilfully deconstructed to allow this simple but modern residence to take shape. Amongst the few request that was presented to us in the client brief was the need for high ceiling levels in the living areas, open plan and large living and dining, and a kitchen that is practical and thoughtful which opens up to the north facing alfresco area. This can also bring in some unexpected cash to be spent on your new build. Be advised, for older buildings, you need to use a licenced contractor as there might be nasties in the existing structure. After you considered the below options, you can consider the various patterns available Solid Timber Floorboards... Solid timber boards, as the name states, are made from solid timber. They are timeless, warm and can add real value to your home. These boards are generally more expensive to buy and install and do require maintenance to keep them in good condition. Engineered Floorboards Engineered timber boards contain a thin layer of real timber that is visible laminated on top of other wood such as plywood. This reduces the cost of the product and can be easier to install. Bamboo Floorboards Bamboo is less expensive and is typically more sustainable than solid timber flooring. It is quite durable and more stable than engineered timber but not recommended for wet areas. Be weary of super cheap boards that are often manufactured with less desirable adhesives. The longevity of the board is also much less than that of engineered or solid timber and typically their colour range is limited.
