24.01.2022 Pinch and a punch it’s the first of the month ... and first day of the last financial quarter for 2018/19 Anyone else feel like that happened in a blink? April is a big month for compliance ... Monthly IAS due April 21... Quarterly BAS due April 28 Employee SGC contributions due April 28 And if you haven’t already been monitoring your year to date performance, it’s a good time to do so and make any necessary adjustments to ensure you finish the year in line with your financial goals (or ahead ) or make a strategy to get in line at the start of the new year. It’s never too late.

17.01.2022 Considering Australian #SME make up 98% of all Australian businesses, produce 1/3 of total GDP and employ approximately 4.7 million Aussie workers, they should be celebrated everyday. Shop small and shop local where you can. Happy #SME day to all our small biz clients.

15.01.2022 I have to agree. I hear from many clients that landlords have preferred to leave their property empty than negotiate lower rent terms. There are many commercial pockets around Perth that are dead and if small businesses are keen to open bricks and mortar shops surely it makes sense to assist in making these areas thrive again by offering more reasonable rents? Thoughts?

15.01.2022 Employers ... a reminder pay rates are changing from 1 July 2019. You can view the new award rates from Fairwork downloadable pay guides. Who do the new rates apply to?... Employees who get their pay rates from: * the national minimum wage * a modern award, or * a registered agreement (in some cases). The increase won't affect employees who are already getting paid more than the new minimum wages. Visit https://www.fairwork.gov.au/pay/minimum-wages/pay-guides. for more information on who the increase applies to.

14.01.2022 Single Touch Payroll (STP) changes how you report your employees' end of financial year (EOFY) information to your employees and the ATO. What you need to know You no longer need to provide your employees with a payment summary for payments reported through STP. You will have until 31 July to 'finalise' your employees' EOFY payroll information through your STP enabled software for the 2018-19 financial year. You can also finalise this information as soon as it is ready after... 30 June. You are no longer required to lodge a payment summary annual report for the amounts reported through STP as long as you complete the finalisation declaration by the finalisation date. What you need to do You need to tell your employees: you will not be providing them with a payment summary their payment summary information will be called an income statement in ATO online in myGov they will need to log into their myGov account, select ATO online services, click on my profile, select my employment and then income statement to access this information if they use a registered agent to lodge their income tax return, their agent will receive their income statement information directly from the ATO if they don't have access or cannot create a myGov account and don't use a registered agent they can call ATO on 13 28 61 and they’ll provide this information to them. Source: Australian Taxation Office If your employees need help creating or logging in to their myGov account and linking to the ATO's online services, they can access helpful information at ato.gov.au/onlineservices

10.01.2022 BEWARE SCAM EMAILS Today I received a reminder about my website renewing. It actually renews in April each so i was wary about this email. I have taken a screen shot of the genuine fewest email and today’s scam. ... As can be seen, the genuine one is personalised and contains information pertinent to my renewal. The scam although at first glance appears genuine, is a general email. A reminder to never click on any links in emails you are not expecting or seem out of ordinary. Login to a website or account independently to ensure the request is real. Another good way of detecting a scam email is to check the sender’s email address. It will often be made to appear to be a genuine address but closer inspection of the actual address, it will be a random one. Needless to say today’s email is binned.

10.01.2022 With the end of the financial year closing in its a good time to review your financial records and ensure they are in good order.
