10.05.2022 Its been a while since we have done a New Gear Friday post, so here is an odd little Covid Shutdown engineering and rigging project we were working on over the last year or so, a goods lift at the warehouse... pretty pleased with how it all came up, including some frivolous bits just because :) (Sound on - wait for it...!)
30.04.2022 What a busy weekend the team fromSLC & Event Stage Hire at Ballarat Beer Festival , Ballarat Funk'N'Fest and at Avoca
24.04.2022 We did an interesting restoration last week - we pulled some EV MTL4 quad 18 subs out of storage, we had to jimmy the cabinets apart where they were stacked as the years of nightclub drinks spilled on the rat-fur carpet was not pretty (there is a picture of the box of old carpet, screws, connectors, sanding dust, and a bunch of our blood, sweat, tears, and a fair smattering of used up swear words in that box!) - we were pleased that all 8 bass drivers were all still OK - they were stripped, bits cleaned, re-painted, new grilles made, and then probably to the annoyance of our neighbors, a fair bit of testing done! They came up quite nicely and are now back doing regular gigs again! (For our older followers, they spent time in 21 Arms, The Chapel and Hot Gossip )
14.04.2022 Ballarat Beer Festival on 19th of Feb. SLC Looking after the main Stage.
10.04.2022 It’s been a while since we did a new gear Friday post! We have added a few more Sony on camera digital radio mic systems into production stock - including a really cool dual channel receiver, anyhooo. It’s a weird world we are living in where we are still doing gigs while tens of thousands of Rona cases are being reported every day
21.01.2022 What an exciting week! New gear Friday gets a decent run for the first time in months! Three pallets of new gear for a client, and a gig! An actual out in the bloody rain during the bump in gig! (Normally we would be complaining about a gig in the rain ) - more pics of how that came up once the client has gone live with photos (don’t want to steal their thunder!!)
19.01.2022 Commerce Ballarat should have been hosting the Business Awards tonight... It feels kind of weird not to be doing that gig this week (Stupid Rona!) - Thought we would share an old time lapse video of the bump in day from 2013 for old times sake!
17.01.2022 A few shiny new Barriers with retractable belts heading out to a client for less than $100 a piece! Let us know if this is something you think you could use.... #slcaust #clientsnewgearmonday #COVID19 #covidsafe #wemakeeventsaus #covidsafebusiness #socialdistancing
15.01.2022 Not many people would be aware that for some time we’ve been offering online streaming as a service... Nowadays more than ever this is becoming an essential part of our offerings, lately the only gigs we are doing, sadly are funerals, but we have also been installing permanent systems into places of worship and Funeral Centres. Let us know if you have any streaming questions and we can work out a solution for you!
11.01.2022 Just because no one else in Ballarat has mentioned the snow on Facebook today, we thought we would post this cool (see what we did there?) picture of the shop - if you look closely you can see it was too cold for Craig to poke more than his beanie covered noggin out the door!
09.01.2022 This week yet something else we can do that’s a bit different! We set up a small studio space in one of our offices to film one end of a zoom meeting interview to be turned into a proper one on one interview video for a client where one person was stuck in Melbourne and the other in Ballarat, we then uploaded 100GB of 4k video to the producers... I think Maddo was getting bored with being the soft prop while we were setting up backlight - but given she was about the only person here with hair at the time... We will post a link when the project goes live!
07.01.2022 This was a bit of fun to set up the lighting for :)
06.01.2022 Joining the worldwide movement to raise awareness of the events industry that was first to close when COVID-19 hit, and will be very much one of the last to come back to anything that resembles normal potentially for many months yet - our industry has had near enough to zero income producing work since March in Australia, and while Jobkeeper has been a lifesaver for most of this industry, its scaling back now in line with most other industries being able to ramp back up, we c...an’t, we are not allowed to yet, its very likely that this industry will be barely starting to ramp back up by the time Jobkeeper winds up altogether in March 2021 - that’s right - most of us will hardly have been able to work for a whole year! The entertainment and events industry needs lots more support yet!!! The main photo here has our logo set up in lights, there are 29 lights - one to represent each week since events stopped in Australia! #WeMakeEvents #wemakeevents @wemakeeventsaus #lightitinred #wemakeeventsaus A special thanks goes out to Gobotech for their generous support of providing free #WeMakeEvents gobos! 05.01.2022 New gear Friday! (For another client this week!) Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute acquired a bunch of new gear this week - the second venue over the last couple of weeks to have committed to support local business for upgrades, and we are of course very grateful for their loyalty to us as a local businesses! 04.01.2022 A few photos from last night
03.01.2022 Renovation Reveal... The reception area! This was perhaps the most time consuming part of the spruce up we have been doing, in fact it was the snowball point that just kept giving once we started! We decided to sort out the water damaged skirting board near the front door, thinking cut in a new skirting board and do some painting... But no... it was not that simple! But hey, if we have to paint, why not more than one colour EDIT: - most of what we have been doing here isn’t really in anyone’s normal skillset (we are sound & lighting people!) - it is about now that a huge shoutout goes out to my father for years of passing on this sort of stuff that I have hopefully also been able to pass on to everyone else here while we have been working on all this... Dad seems impressed with what we have achieved - Craig.
01.01.2022 New gear Friday returns!! - A rather large box of these turned up today - a little bit nicer than handing out videos to clients on generic USB sticks...
