25.01.2022 INFORMATION RE: OCEANS 38 ROUND 3 CARNIVAL Good Morning Clubs, Team Managers & Officials, After many discussions and reading through the Qld Health Directives, the Oceans 38 event at Tugun on Saturday will proceed. ... With many participants from the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and Northern New South Wales areas and having a COVID Safe plan in place we have decided to continue with the event. However, members from the greater Brisbane area as defined in the directive (read here) will not be able to attend. Team Managers please inform the Carnival Admin tomorrow morning of those affected members so that they can be removed from the carnival (alternatively, please email the Branch should your whole team no longer be attending). There will be no penalties for those no longer able to attend. If there are any Officials that are directly affected by the lockdown, can you please contact the Branch as soon as possible. Can the six (6) clubs that have IRB crew requirements also please inform the Branch if any of these members are affected. Please adhere to the COVID safe requirements at all times: sign in using the QR code, sanitise your hands when entering the competition area, maintain social distancing and please do not attend if you are showing any flu like symptoms. Regards, Oceans 38 Rd 3 Carnival Committee.

25.01.2022 YOUTH OF THE MONTH - OCTOBER 2020 Congraulations to Oklan Allard-Delahunt (North Kirra SLSC) on being awarded the Youth of the Month award for October 2020. Oklan is a committed volunteer lifesaver and has already completed 13.5 patrol hours, of which 4.5 are volunteer hours. Oklan has been extremely helpful with the club's nipper program assisting with IRB Water Safety for pretty much every session so far this season. He also assisted with a rescue demonstration for the visit from the Premier earlier this month and was involved in a media activity with SLSQ at North Kirra Beach (all in his own time and in addition to his patrol hours). Oklan is a participant in this season's Team X-Treme and is a keen IRB competitor. Awesome Work Oklan!!

25.01.2022 YOUTH OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER 2020 Congraulations to Rory Phelps (Rainbow Bay SLSC) on being awarded the Youth of the Month award for December 2020. Rory joined Rainbow Bay as a nipper, achieved his SRC and was named Junior Club Captain in 2018/2019. Rory has gained his Bronze in 2020/2021 and is a participant in both YIPs and Team X-Treme programs. He helps out at nippers every week and the younger kids love having him around in the surf. He is a role model to both the young and older members and is popular with everyone. Awesome Work Rory!!

19.01.2022 VALE - DON BURCHILL OAM It is with great regret that we advise our members that Don Burchill OAM - Life Member of Tallebudgera SLSC, SLSQ Point Danger Branch, SLSQ and SLSA passed away today. Don has been a member of our association since 1957 - dedicating 63 years to surf life saving at every level - his list of accomplishments, accolades and positions held are too numerous to list. His committment earnt him Life Membership at every level, a World Life Saving Citation of Merit and an OAM for services to Surf Lifesaving. Don was dedicated to life saving, as a leader, a mentor, a friend. His legacy will remain with us - a true life saver and gentleman. Our thoughts are with Val and the Burchill family.
