The assessment even saw a visit from our SNB Education Director Adrienne Lowe. Its been a long 4 months over winter but huge congratulations to Andrew Sole, Molly Parker, Jarrah Turner, Courtney Campbell, Marvin Smith and Thomas Doyle. Just in time for a busy summer. Sydney Northern Beaches Branch collected the Youth Volunteer of the Year, Community Education Program of the Year and Assessor of the Year Awards through North Steyne!
20.01.2022 #SurfSchool // This week the Surf Life Saving School held the inaugural SNiC day. We had 11 very excited kids who spent the day at North Narrabeen beach learning about the surf, beach flags, sand relays, buckets, board paddling and tube rescues were all part of the day. After the morning session, the kids enjoyed a BBQ lunch with their carers and then headed back to the lagoon for some more fun before finishing up at 2pm with a Snickers bar to top off their day. 15.01.2022 Recently Surf Life Saving Australia embarked on the wonderful historical project of numbered caps for its Life Members. Initiated by Graham Ford AM and brought to life by Graham Bruce and Rick Wright OAM, SLSA has produced a stunning numbered frame for each of its Life Members. Last Friday, 25 September - SLSA hosted its first Life Members Virtual Event with Branches across Australia, SNB held a special dinner to present caps to the SNB Branch SLSA Life Members. This was a ...special opportunity for our Life members to come together virtually across Australia, to recognise the new members, remember those who have passed and celebrate a year in SLS. Caps were presented to Lindsay Paton OAM from Mona Vale SLSC, Colin White OAM from Queenscliff SLSC, Tony Haven AM from South Narrabeen SLSC and Christine Hopton OAM from Avalon Beach SLSC who was also presented with her SLSA Life Membership pin and certificate. Freshwater SLSC will present recipients Ken Priest and Raymond Brennan OAM later on in the year at a club presentation. SNB President Tracey Hare-Boyd will be presenting the remaining certificates to Michael Byrnes OAM from Avalon Beach, Ernie Davis OAM from Manly, Michael Bartlett from Bilgola Beach, Ritchie Lytham OAM from Collaroy and Terry Boardman OAM at a later date.

15.01.2022 #SARX // Tonight, SNB held another SARX Training Session for Central Clubs including North Narrabeen SLSC, Narrabeen SLSC and South Narrabeen SLSC. The scenario involved an after hours call out at 5.30pm for club IRB's to search for 2 Paddlers who appeared to be in distress a long way off shore. SNB Duty Officers Rob Cook and Doug Lucas responded to the call and launched a UAV to assist with the search scenario. Clubs launched 4 IRB's to conduct the search. ... In total 15 club members from the 3 clubs and SNB Support Operations took part in the training scenario. Great Work Team!

Enroute to Newport, Westpac Life Saver 21 located a board with no occupant off Queenscliff. It was determined that this was from a previous rescue performed by Warringah Council Lifeguards. LS21 performed a sweep of the Newport area and determined there was no one in trouble. On the return trip to Cape Banks, LS21 check...ed on the welfare of Kayakers off North Steyne and a swimmer off Freshwater. We are urging you to please exercise caution, know your capabilities. The surf is unpredictable, powerful and dangerous.
