16.01.2022 Seating Chart vs. Escort Cards? Although often used interchangeably, seating charts and escort cards are not one and the same. An escort card is found and retained by guests, it will have the guests name and allocated table enscribed and often doubles as a favour or momento 'escorting' guests to their designation. ... Seating charts, on the other hand, indicate which table guests have been assigned as a fixed display. They're often used alongside place cards on tables and unlike escort cards, they allow guests to see who they're sitting with in advance. Personally, I find both work equally well. It often comes down to personal preference on the clients' part or a definitive event style/ aethstetic decision. The thing both methods offer in bucket loads is the opportunity to further enhance detailing. This stunning, detail rich seating chart by @ashleysmithevents/ @papertieaffair_ and this gorgeous, unique escort card (bowl/favour) installation by @backupbackdrops @amorology are among some of my favourite creative examples. Which would you choose? Double tap to let me know @ Byron Bay, New South Wales

07.01.2022 Making my favourite orange peel home-cleaning spray today... and it got me thinking, about all of the luscious fruit that's been adorning tablescapes everywhere at the moment. Our cleaner recipe makes great use of otherwise discarded fruit scraps- but what happens food after it's used to style tables? Does it go to waste? I love the vibe food adds to a tablescape and have olayed with the idea a lot myself. I've concluded that it is possible to have your er, [fruit] and eat ...it... So long as said food compliments the meal being served and guests are actively encouraged to enjoy it. If you don't want guests tucking in to the centrepieces at your event, but are still enamoured by the aethstetic, I suggest using whole, hardy morsels in protective skin such as citrus, pineapples or lychees- these can still be enjoyed after they've served their decorative purposes- win! Another option, particularly well-suited to autumn/winter styling, is the use of nuts in their shells which are just as beautiful but much better suited to sitting on display. As always, it is really important to ensure foods you have chosen are in season, sourced locally and grown naturally. It's the little differences like these that go a really long way toward creating a more positive future for everybody to share. What do you think? Do you love the look of food on a tablescape? Do you find it wasteful? Do you have any more tips for showcasing beautiful edibles responsibly? Comment below and let me know
