21.01.2022 Geometry is nothing at all, if not a branch of art Geometry is something you will have been familiar with even before you knew the word itself. It finds itself everywhere around us, in the shape of the screen you’re looking at to the angle with which you see it. In the new geometry learning resource on our website, we’ll plunge into the world of shapes, angles, and lines, covering the basics of Geometry.... https://smartspacetutoring.com.au/geometry-learning-resour/

20.01.2022 Amazing insight into the writing proces from Tim Winton Creative writing takes patience and resilience but it is truly the best medium through which we can communicate complex ideas in such powerful and profound ways. At Smart Space, we understand the power of creative thinkers and encourage our students to develop their craft and write real, connected stories that resonate deeply with themselves and their audience

19.01.2022 This is the third instalment of our English quotes series where we analyse key lines from HSC texts. In this quote, Orwell explores how the totalitarian regime's proclamation of absolute order has stifled free and unfiltered human expression. Here, banality has infiltrated the human mind, quashing the formation of any semblance of spontaneous thought. What is so disturbing about CRIMESTOP is that it suggests a subtle but sure restructuring of the mind, which, in Oceania, appears to be the last stronghold against Big Brother's relentless assault on truth and logic. *we do not own the rights to this literary work*

14.01.2022 Hands up if you think this is what learning is all about! It's wise to look back on your old work - essays, exams, writing - and think about how far you've come rather than to just dwell on the failures.

13.01.2022 Let's talk TEEL many NSW schools teach students to analyse texts using the TEEL structure (topic sentence, explanation, evidence, link). TEEL is also known as PETAL, TEAL and even QTE but don't be fooled; they are all essentially the same thing and are all geared towards the same goal - ensuring you have a clear and coherent analysis!

03.01.2022 The original quote is "sepere aude", a Latin phrase meaning 'dare to know' but many have interpreted it over the years as 'dare to think for yourself' on the basis that real knowledge involves careful consideration and contemplation. I tend to agree, what do you think?

03.01.2022 This is the sixth instalment of our HSC quotes series and this one comes from 'The Hollow Men' by TS Eliot. Eliot's suite of poems are studied by Advanced students in Module B. In the opening lines of the poem, the speakers collectively identify themselves as "the hollow men", conveying the sense of vacuity that permeates their current existence. However, in a paradoxical twist, they also refer to themselves as "the stuffed men" through the image of a passive and paralysed scarecrow. This alludes to an absence of agency felt by these men who are simultaneously 'empty' of spirit and full of 'nothing'. *we do not own the rights to this literary work*

02.01.2022 This is the fourth instalment of our HSC quotes series and this one comes from 'The Crucible' by Arthur Miller, a key common module texts for advanced students. In this quote, John Proctor is contemplating confessing to the crime of witchcraft. Despite his obvious innocence in this matter, Proctor reflects on his sinful past and believes himself to be unworthy of the righteous indignation that would be afforded to a good and honest man. Instead, he refers to his soul as "rotten" and "spoiled", unable to be further corrupted by this false confession. *we do not own the rights to this literary work*
