25.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE - SMBI Socially distance Wear a mask if you cant socially distance Maintain hand hygiene - washing or sanitising.... DETAILS The Russell Island woman is in her sixties and believed to be linked to another case. Metro South Health is currently planning to set-up a pop-up COVID-19 testing clinic on Russell Island and this will be in operation later this afternoon and will continue for the coming days. Contact tracing has commenced with the woman this morning and we will continue to assess the situation and provide the local community with the relevant advice. I want to reassure the people of Russell Island and all our Redlands Coast islands that weve been planning for situations like this and were well prepared to handle it. Metro South Health is in the process of arranging for the woman to be transferred to the mainland.

07.01.2022 Do you know your tax myths from tax facts? Test your working-from-home knowledge below as we set the record straight. Myth: If I use the shortcut method, I ...can claim 80 cents per work hour plus other equipment (that costs $300 or less) to use when working from home. Fact: Under the shortcut method you can only claim 80 cents per work hour. This method covers all deductible expenses, including office furniture and technology. You cant claim any other working from home expenses on top. Myth: I can claim everything I bought to work from home (new laptop, desk, toilet paper, tea or coffee and my kids education supplies). Fact: There are three methods you can use to calculate your working from home expenses. You can choose the method that will give you the best outcome but you must meet the eligibility and record keeping requirements. You cannot claim items such as toilet paper, tea, coffee or your kids education costs, these are private expenses. Myth: I cant claim my working from home running expenses, even though I share the costs with my housemate because the bills arent in my name. Fact: Under the shortcut method multiple eligible taxpayers working from the same home can each claim 80 cents per work hour, even if the utility bill isnt in your name. 03.01.2022 JobKeeper 2.0 legislation has now passed. The bill extends the JobKeeper scheme by a further six months to 28 March 2021, replacing the $1,500 a fortnight payme...nt with a new two-tier payment rate from 28 September 2020. The ATO has now detailed the payment rates for the two extension periods, the first running from 28 September 2020 to 3 January 2021, and the second running from 4 January 2021 to 28 March 2021. For the first extension period, employees who worked for 80 hours or more in the four weeks of pay periods before either 1 March 2020 or 1 July 2020 will receive $1,200 per fortnight, while all other employees will receive $750. For the second period, the rate will drop to $1,000 per fortnight and $650 per fortnight, respectively. Businesses currently enrolled in JobKeeper will not need to re-enrol for JobKeeper 2.0, nor will they need to provide an employee nomination notice again. Businesses will need to satisfy the decline in turnover test for the September quarter, and subsequently the December quarter. #JobKeeper #JobKeeper2.0 #AccountantVictoriaPoint #ReliableProactiveExperienced
