22.01.2022 Keep it up Victoria. Everything you’re doing to stay safe is working. Remember to continue following restrictions. That means you can only gather outside in groups of up to ten, wear a fitted mask, and get tested if you feel unwell. Do it for yourself, for your family and for your community. For translated information visit coronavirus.vic.gov.au/translations

22.01.2022 Calling young creators/creatives! Create content, from videos to visual art that provides a deeper understanding of COVIDSafe behaviours and why they are important.

07.01.2022 Volunteers needed! We started doing this Conversation/reading Cafe class at the beginning of the year, it proved so popular because so needed! We have started 2 classes on Fridays again, one at 11am and one at 1.30pm with COVID restrictions in place. Could you spare 2 hours a week to enjoy a cuppa with new arrivals that want to improve their English? Conversation and reading practice for our diverse range of clients in a classroom/ cafe situation. Often, this may be the only ...chance that a refugee or immigrant may get to speak or read continuously each week. Invaluable learning and communicating to enhance all aspects of their formal English classes and life in Australia. If you can help- We would LOVE to hear from you. Please call/ text Danielle on 0490073371 to register your interest and fill in a volunteer form at SMECC or on our website. Thank you in advance for your support- it’ll be fun

02.01.2022 Beware of phone and internet scams impersonating Home Affairs! Be aware of scammers who impersonate the Department of Home Affairs by phoning on our behalf or copying one of our websites. We are aware of a current scam where people are receiving a phone call with an automated voice claiming to be from the Department of Home Affairs. The voice tells them that 'a warrant is out for their arrest.' This is a scam. We have referred this scam to relevant agencies.... What you should do: Hang up and report the call to ACCC Scamwatch. You should never give out personal details to a scammer. Protect yourself from scammers Make sure you always check that any government website link contains ‘.gov.au’ at the end. You should only provide financial and identity information such as passport details on secure websites. https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/news-media/archive/article
