23.01.2022 Successes for the week ... How have we all gone? Did you have some great successes this week just past or some minor successes that have made you life a little clearer? With just 4 and a half weeks till Christmas Im starting to plan a few things and got my Christmas Cards done over the weekend and mowed and edged the lawns - funny I know but I actually really enjoy doing it! I did some baking for the week too. I had a few more wins at work also so things are looking up for the end of 2015 I think! What did you get up to this week? What are you proud to tell us and put your name to?

22.01.2022 What motivates you? A Forbes article by Paul B Brown suggests the following 17 points: 1. Necessity of getting it done - eg. mortgage, kids in private schools, paid gym membership, paid uni fees. 2. Quotes of the inspirational kind - on a white board, framed on a wall, on the fridge, as a screen saver. 3. People are relying on you - children, husband, business partner, friends, siblings, employees, pupils, team. 4. Personal pride - being proud of what you have accomplished... and taking great satisfaction in keeping it going. 5. A mission to change the world - (my personal favourite) - believing that your offerings will make the world a better place. 6. Support groups - a group you can commit to and assist you in making progress so you dont want to fall behind eg weight watchers, mothers group, sports group, music band, craft group, business group. 7. They have a chip on their shoulder - keep going no matter what to prove to all the people who told me I would never be successful, that they were wrong. 8. Consider the alternative - without a degree, without a job, without a family, without a business, unhealthy, without a house etc. 9. A legacy - knowing you will be able to impress your children with you success one day, knowing you will be remembered for this one day. 10. Create momentum - making small wins towards a bigger goal on a daily or monthly basis gives you drive to keep going. 11. Getting a diagnosis - knowing the cause and being able to take action - this can apply to all things in life not just health - having someone point out whats wrong or is causing the situation can open your eyes and drive you to create a battle plan. 12. Visualisation - this works for many people - focusing on what success will ultimately look like keeps them going. 13. Exercise. Think. Sometimes being tired, depressed and wrung out is simply a matter of over-work or being out of shape (or both.) Taking a breakat regular pointscould be enough to keep you... See more

22.01.2022 #individualhumpday Embrace your individuality?

22.01.2022 Good morning! Oh my gosh so much going on in life at the moment its been difficult to stay on track but Im back I think. Im trying to find a happy medium where Im not needed on this computer all day everyday but enough that this group is still engaging. Its still a work in progress but well get there! So successes and motivation .... two things I guess that need each other in life in order to survive! Success and motivation is a bit like the chicken and the egg I suppose.... But lets start with Successes! I was made to promise by one of my colleagues that I tell you about a little success I had at work during the week ... our team do medical case conferences for injured workers for various companies and its my job to screen them and allocate them to someone in the team. Only this particular already had an appointment with their GP which we usually would organise and when I called to find out the appointment time she was already in with the GP and put me on to the GP so I liaised with the GP right there and then got the outcome that we all wanted (for her to return to normal work) contacted everyone and sent out all the required emails, invoiced the file, completed the closure checklist and closed the file. Something I hadnt done before with my current employer and hadnt done for around 5 years. Truth be told I did get a bit of a buzz out of it. Motivation ... what motivates you? Well successes motivate me thats for sure but so does organisation, preparation, good music and good food. I cant operate if Im distracted by being hungry! Is anyone else like that? Heres for an interesting read! http://ow.ly/UIFWT

21.01.2022 Heres a question for you all in relation to todays focus of individuality. There is a lot of views currently floating around about equality specifically for women, and from this there is a view that women need to be treated differently particularly with respect to women working in historically male dominant fields such as mining, maths/accounting, science to get the most out of us. But if we are being treated differently as a group is that really equality? Should the focus be more on our individuality - male or female - to get the most out of us and to empower us all to be successful?

10.01.2022 Personal empowerment is about looking at who you are and becoming more aware of yourself as a unique individual. Personal empowerment involves developing the confidence and strength to set realistic goals and fulfil your potential. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses and a range of skills that are used in everyday situations, but all too often people remain unaware of, or undervalue, their true abilities. A person aiming for empowerment is able to take control of their li...fe by making positive choices and setting goals. Developing self-awareness, an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses - knowing your own limitations is key to personal empowerment. Taking steps to set and achieve goals - both short and longer-term and developing new skills, acts to increase confidence which, in itself, is essential to self-empowerment. There are 5 Dimensions to empowerment: Self-Awareness Values Skills Information/Knowledge Goals Which one will you choose to work on today?
