24.01.2022 Thinking of students studying online, I'm encouraged to share this by a wonderful teacher, Dr N.C. I think I originally learned it at Radiant Child Yoga. Since then, I've passed it on to many children and teens, to help keep a healthy mind in a healthy body...

23.01.2022 For the past seven years, yoga has changed the lives of so many people living in townships in South Africa. Now, you can share the story, through the award-wining documentary film 'Township Yogi', available to pre-order at www.townshipyogi.org.

23.01.2022 International Day of Yoga Wishing the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India on the International Day of Yoga, Lyonchhen Dr Lotay Tshering ...said it was rejuvenating to pause and celebrate a day that expounded meaning of emotional, mental and physical wellbeing during the pandemic. In response to the letter received from the Indian prime minister on the significance of the day, Lyonchhen said it was even more heart warming to receive correspondence from the person who actually designed and propagated the meaningful day. This personal initiative of Your Excellency, the idea of yoga that transcended beyond India to the rest of the world under your leadership, purports more significance today than ever before, Lyonchhen said. He said the world is in anticipation of a vaccine that will respond to this disease, in order to move on with life. But for persons who are into yoga and healthy living, that would be the last thought on their minds. He said as a medical professional as well as a fitness enthusiast, he was consoled in the fact that the pandemic has reiterated importance of public health and personal immunity. And we have days such as this that reinforce our efforts, he said. On behalf of the people of Bhutan, Lyonchhen offered sincere prayers for the peace and happiness of the people of India and beyond. Picture: Image from last year, Lyonchhen participates in the International Day and Yoga celebration at Changlimithang ground.

22.01.2022 Following the path between "there's no time to lose" and "sitting in stillness and silence each day, is never wasted time"

21.01.2022 While Yoga therapy seeks to "build up the individual" to foster resilience and mental health, as citizens, we also need to plunge under the surface and recognize links with the underside of the iceberg; the systemic issues of inequity and injustice, corruption and unsustainable ways of living

21.01.2022 A wonderful student just shared this quote with me - what a lovely antidote for excessive screen time and a call to wander through the elements that weave through all of us we are a dance of mass (earth), feeling and flow (water), heat and subtlety (fire), thought and primordial sensation (air), and pure awareness/consciousness (space) from https://medium.com//five-energy-bodies-and-five-elements-o

20.01.2022 Working with students from different cultures has been a professional and personal privilege and joy. The richness of perspective and feeling that different languages convey, is a gift to share. This word, 'apapacho' is one I hadn't encountered before last week's intensive Yoga therapy teaching on Zoom. Its very meaning - 'to embrace or caress with the soul' - brings a dose of humanity into cyberspace and face-to-face interactions at a time when real hugs are challenged, that feels good for the soul and the world https://steptohealth.com/a-caress-from-the-soul-to-create-/

18.01.2022 "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." ~ Pablo Picasso. .... : Rangoli is an art form, originating in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or the ground using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. 12.01.2022 Contentment, or santosa, is one aspect of cultivating inner peace, eventually independently of what's going on in our lives. It's said, 'where the mind goes, energy flows' - which is perhaps why getting grateful each day can be such a heartening habit to develop

08.01.2022 The tradition and practices of Yoga are certainly vast and profound. You may revel in the Sanskrit teachings or find this ancient language intimidating. Yet within Yoga's philosophy, you can feel at home, because it's all about what it means to be human - body, mind and spirit. Tending to the foundational observances underpinning Patanjali's Eight Limbs, incorporating our awareness of breath activated core strength and guiding our energy towards more balance, taking time to rest in neutral (rather than staying in gear 24/7) can be a wonderful way to connect with something greater, inspire our inner muse and experience life's full palette of emotions as we move through our days, together on this planet

06.01.2022 How do we manage our relationship with technology and within the cyber world? Our mindful practice is a lifeline with reality. Through Yoga, we can be in the company of the technology vortex, without disappearing into it

03.01.2022 I love being part of the Yoga therapy community, where our diversity recognises our unity, and the vital-ity of passing on the teachings of our teachers, and the science behind the practices. It's what you'd hope local and world leaders could recognise, in order to nurture social cohesion and a healthier planet for all life. When I walk into a room or Zoom, the presence of our teachers and those who've come before me, and our Sangha, is there https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3671275489562897&id=125268687496946

03.01.2022 What makes you laugh, what keeps your attention focussed and what gives you a sense of mastery? Human beings are incredibly resilient, and we all have different ways of dealing with challenges, our current situation included. In households, these different coping styles can lead to tension. Recognizing the privilege of shared times has been sharpened and so too, our generosity to allow each other the sort of sacred space each needs to refill their tank, their way. A dear ...friend created this mandala top for me (in fact she made a special garment for each of our precious friends on our 50ths). This is a woman who loves sewing, knitting, crocheting so much, she will stay up dawn-breakingly late, for the joy of creating. And there is possibly more to it than that. As I picture ‘Ness’ at her sewing machine, see our neighbours heading out on their pushbikes, or watch our teen playing the piano, there’s a lot to be said for technology that, as Laurie Leitch PhD says ordinary people can use for their own wellbeing, that decreases their dependence on systems they have no control over. These are events and times we may feel we have no control over, but connecting with purposeful, doable challenges can afford us direction, connection and vigour. I’d also like to thank our Yoga colleague, With Baxter, who launched a ‘Brave in May’ challenge. The daily dip in the icy pool (so nice and cool!), coupled with pranayama practice, has somehow flavoured what might be ‘Groundhog Days’ with zest and an odd sense of achievement and self-reliance. Is it possible that our imposed home-time, can bring us closer to an experienced understanding of Gandhi's thinking about swadeshi - local self-reliance and use of local knowledge and abilities - for the individual and common good? 03.01.2022 While we don't have a crystal ball, science, history and Yoga show us that our unified mind has always been the catalyst to behaviour that can change the course of human history. Realistic optimism, coupled with resolve and right action; together. This too is Yoga. Please share, or better still, develop your own Personal Paris Climate Agreement and share it with friends and family. "Individually we are a drop, together we are an ocean" Ryunosuke Satoro
