25.01.2022 Year Two have been studying place value in Mathematics. The students were intrigued to play around with this hands on place value set. Keep up the hard work!

25.01.2022 RED WEDNESDAY was celebrated by St Mary MacKillop Colleges Wagga Wagga on the 20th of November, the day when we remember the Persecuted Christians. Quite a number of our students know people who have suffered for the Faith, and all know about past and present heroes and saints. Several buildings in Sydney lit up Red, including our St Mary's Cathedral (image from Catholic outlook). The students raised over $200 for our school charity: Aid to the Church in Need. Thank you esp...ecially to those seniors who washed staff cars! Some asked about online giving:https://www.aidtochurch.org/donate-now Pray for our persecuted brethren and watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx3HkxYcLtI

21.01.2022 Creative Arts is an essential part of our curriculum. Foundation students have created a variety of items lately. Some of these items were created through cross curriculum lessons. We have some very talented young students.

21.01.2022 Thank you to all the families who attended our 24 Hour Adoration last weekend. It was incredible to see so many people adoring Our Lord and praying for the St Mary Mackillop Colleges.

19.01.2022 This Litany of Loreto was led by Father Jordan Perry O.P. with the Emmaus Community, Perth. In this month of May we have be the first anniversary of Father Jordan's death. Father was chaplain of our school for over 4 years, and spent many years in the Wagga diocese at Vianney Seminary. He was beloved by many families in our school community and elsewhere. The Litany: This ancient devotion invokes Our Lady under all her traditional titles and is customarily recited or sung o...n Saturday (her special day of the week) and during the Month of May. May Father Jordan Perry rest in peace. https://youtu.be/7eqK8vydKXw

19.01.2022 Adoration began with the 9:30am Mass this morning and will conclude with Benediction at 9:20am tomorrow. Father Casanova preached on martyrdom, and explained the reason why saints are often found in groups. May our school be a training ground for many such saints! The students had time to adore and go to Confession during the day, and parents and staff are adoring until the end of our 24 hours of Adoration. God will not be outdone in generosity. May this be a very fruitful time for us all.

18.01.2022 Once again the High School English Department has published SCRIPTA 2020, the literary magazine of our high school students. We encourage you to purchase a copy to post to family this Christmas for some interesting reading. (They will also be able to put faces to the names they often hear about from school!) SCRIPTA $5 per copy ... (Each student who contributed will receive a free SCRIPTA.) Your children can bring in the money to order more, or order via email this week. (Please hand money to a sister on Thursday.) Scripta will be available to send home on Thursday. Some writings in this issue were composed during the off-campus period. Others have been done in workshops in English class where we have focussed on the techniques of narrative, review, poetry, reports, analytic journalism, satire etc. For 2020 we included more than one piece from most students, making this our longest Scripta magazine yet!

17.01.2022 Wishing our Syro-Malabar community a happy feast of St. Thomas the Apostle.

17.01.2022 This week, we will have a sneak peak into the Foundation classroom. Stay tuned over the remainder of the week for short videos and pictures from their class.

17.01.2022 This term, Foundation to Year Six students are participating in Jump Rope for Heart. The students have been enthusiastically learning new skipping skills each day!

16.01.2022 Here are a few snapshots of Bishop Edward's visit to every classroom on Tuesday. What a mammoth task: giving us so much time, and getting to meet everyone. We're so grateful! The Bishop answered questions in all classes. He repaid the Year 3/4 class’s gift of a choral recitation by reciting an excerpt from St John’s Gospel, and was ‘interviewed’ by the Year 6 class on all things episcopal. Many classes were interested in the insignia and items a Bishop uses, which he showe...d them. He finished the visit by fielding tough questions from senior students on abortion, IVF, homosexual unions, the Green's party, dealing with the pressure of the world and more. Thank you, Bishop Edwards. We will continue to pray for you and our diocese, as you have asked.

16.01.2022 Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Our high school students were treated to doughnuts and some Sacred Heart Cookies. You can have a devotion to the Sacred Heart by doing as Our Lord asked, by receiving Holy Communion and make confession frequently (especially on the first Friday of each month), veneration of an image of His Sacred Heart, and prayers and sacrifices offered out of love for Him and for the conversion of sinners. Happy Feast Day!

15.01.2022 Tomorrow's assembly will be live streamed from 2:30 PM. Year 2 will present a short piece.

15.01.2022 A thorough knowledge of phonics is integral to the Literacy program in the Primary School. It is built into the Foundation students' routine in a variety of modes. Drilling the sounds and chanting the rap is one effective way that proves to be valuable in supporting early writing success. In this video, Mrs. Long directs the class as they recite their Thrass Rap.

14.01.2022 We wish all the father's in our community a very happy Father's Day for this Sunday. May God bless all your families abundantly. Have a great weekend.

13.01.2022 It's the final week of school for 2019! What a year it has been! The formal conclusion to the academic year will be held this Thursday at 7PM. Please see the details in the image below. God bless

13.01.2022 The school sends a cheer to all who Stood For Life this week in Sydney. Staff and students have been closely following the debate and have just completed a Novena with the Angelus (THE pro-life prayer) followed by a minute's silence to ask God for mercy. It is by charity that the walls of Geneva [the life battle] will be breached, St Francis de Sales declared, By love the city will be invaded, it is by love that it must be reconquered!" The footage, as seen in ACL's link, has been uplifting. We are proud of our local Wagga Wagga MP Joe McGirr who 'Loves Them Both' and all who have prayed and work for this great cause. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEPYm-F8B8w

13.01.2022 Year Six Assembly

12.01.2022 Foundation students enjoying the beautiful weather today.

12.01.2022 Our Dominican Sisters have just launched a fantastic initiative in which many friends of SMMC Wagga Wagga may be interested. They have begun a podcast series, 'Truth Bytes': free, short podcasts about basic truths for the 'man on the street'. Send your email address to [email protected], and you'll receive a weekly email with the links to 1 or 2 free podcasts by our sisters. (1 - 3 are listed below!) "The Truth Bytes Series brings you the truths of the Catholic Faith..., not only in small morsels, but in a way that challenges. Although these truths are glorious and necessary to us all, many will find that the Truth "bites". In a world comatosed by error, this may not be such a bad thing. This is part of the Sisters' apostolic outreach to "Preach the word...in season and out of season" and to keep alive the search for Truth in a world that keeps looking for lies." from http://www.conventualsistersofstdominic.org/p/post-podcasts Listen on Soundcloud Truth Byte 1- Happiness Truth Byte 2: Choices Truth Byte 3 - The Human Factor OR Listen on iTunes/Apple Podcasts Truth Bytes 1 - Happiness Truth Byte 2 - Choices Truth Bytes 3 - The Human Factor

08.01.2022 Some points from Term 4 so far: Chess, Science and Serra Club. The senior Chess team won the Riverina Regional Chess Championship on All Saints Day. Well done to Julian Vieira, Ben Curtis, Michael Curtis, and Sam Bell. Congratulations to all Year 7 & 8 students for your successful presentation of your Science Physic projects on Thursday (31 October 2019). Francesca Morton received 3rd place for her Roller Coaster investigation, Harry Thomas received 2nd place for his Electri...c Battery Train and Brenna Shaw received first place for her Pulley System. The teacher's choice award went to Tully Shaw. It was a fun activity for all the K - 6 students who came to see the event and thank you teachers and parents for all your support. On Tuesday November 5th we were honoured with a visit from the priests and seminarians of Vianney College. The idea and goal of this visit was to expose students to the vocation of holy orders. The visit began with a beautiful Mass at 12.20 pm which was celebrated by Fr Thompson and con-celebrated by Fr Byrnes. The Mass was followed by a barbeque which was provided by the Serra Club whose role is to promote and support vocations in the diocese. It’s a worthy cause to join and we recommend parents consider helping out in any way possible. The school would like to thank the Serra Club for all their efforts over the course of the afternoon. The seminarians visited all the classrooms and spoke about their life and the vocation to the priesthood. Visits such as the one we had on Tuesday are extremely important, as it makes the decision for our young people to answer God's call to the religious life or priesthood tangible and realistic. We live in a world where following down such a path is frowned upon and our priests are heavily attacked. Let us all remember to pray both for our priests and our seminarians that they may embrace God's will in all they do and receive the grace to lead as many souls to heaven as possible.

08.01.2022 Happy Easter to all of the members of the SMMC community. May the the joy of the Risen Lord shine true in all of your lives!
