20.01.2022 Ying Jin has taken out the NSW State Masters Snooker Championship played around Club Marconi in Sydney over the weekend. He defeated Greg McCarthy in the final 4-1 after great wins against Joe Minici in the semis and Rob Elsley in the quarters. Greg also had a great event knocking off David Liu in the semis and Glen Wilkinson in the quarters. David Liu playing really well having beaten Roger Farebrother in his earlier match. Joe Minici had the highest break of the Championshi...p with a solid 120 which was 2 up on the 118 from one of the Masters - Roger Farebrother. Roger was one of the favourites having won this event several times at Marconi and being one of the local favourites. Well done again to Ying Jin on his first NSW Masters victory. He will have a boost of confidence going into the Australian Masters late next month. Finally well done to one of the biggest club supporters of Snooker and Billiards in Australia - Club Marconi. And to Dave Waller, Stuart Tait and the team if referees who managed a fantastic event.

16.01.2022 In light of recent developments in respect of the COVID-19 virus, the Board of the Australian Billiards and Snooker Council (ABSC) has resolved to cancel all national and open tournaments presently scheduled in the period up to 30 June 2020. Ultimately the health, safety and welfare of the players, officials and the community generally has to take precedence. The Board expects that its decision will be mirrored at a State & Territory level by its various Member States. Any e...ntry fees paid to date for any ABSC events will be refunded in full. We suggest you seek to obtain a refund or insurance payment for any travel expenses already incurred or defer and reuse the airfares in the future. This decision also extends to players who are eligible to compete in tournaments overseas. At this time the ABSC will not support any player who wishes to travel internationally to play in tournaments. 11.01.2022 Australian Billiards has lost one of the games greatest supporters with the death on July 25th of Melbournes Denis Coghlan. Denis, who died aged 77 from compl...ications following a serious fall, attended scores of billiards events in recent years including tournaments in Melbourne, Albury, Adelaide, Brisbane, Wollongong and Sydney, and was always a willing volunteer as a referee, scorer, or in any other capacity asked. Denis was a highly respected gentleman who made a great contribution in so many ways to the game we love. As well as his involvement with billiards, Denis was also a great supporter of junior billiards and snooker and for the last ten years was always on hand to referee at State and National junior events. Many billiardists paid tribute to Denis on news of his death: JG: Very sorry to hear that John. AGM: Terrible news. Denis was an RACV and VBSA stalwart, and was one of the few who helped educate me on how to enjoy the City Clubs hospitality. He will be sadly missed around billiards competitions. MK: That is very sad , a really nice guy. DP: Sad news, Denis was indeed a stalwart. DR: Very sad. Denis was a great lover of billiards, a generous volunteer referee and a wonderful gentleman. We had some great trips with him. Many a bottle of scotch consumed in preparation for the next days play. SF: Agree entirely DR - to say nothing of being a tolerant and amusing travelling companion, and a liberal sharer of the Scotch bottle. MD: Very sad news. Denis was also Treasurer of Over 55s comp. Many hats. Good bloke. GM: Denis was a passionate lover of our game and always willing to put in. SB: From the RSY guys our condolences as well. SM: Vale to a proper gent. Sad news. NC: Lovely guy Denis. Vale. AM: Denis was a great fellow and a real billiards and snooker enthusiast. A couple of months ago during Lockdown he said in an email to all the Camberwell players that he could "just about kill for a game". He did great work for Camberwell and also Burwood RSL. Moreover a prolific referee. RIP. TH: No! Lovely gentleman. JC: A great loss, Denis was such a strong supporter of billiards. PT:So sorry to hear that. Such a fine gentleman and our most ardent supporter. An immeasurable loss to the sport. Vale Denis.

05.01.2022 Chris Christofi is about to participate in his third Vinnies CEO SleepOut and has committed to raising $80,000.00 to help those in need. Reventon will also show support by donating 75 cents for every dollar that he raises. This year Vinnies asked for all the CEOs to participate virtually by sleeping in their backyard, in their car or on their couch. Chris has decided to sleep out on the streets of Melbourne for two nights at the end of June with his wife Billie.... Times are tough at the moment but together we can make a difference and change the lives of many. $20 will help feed 1 person while $55 will help feed a family for a day. No donation is too small, if our whole network were able to give up one coffee a week and donate the money instead, we would be able to hit our target and help those who need it most. To make a donation please click on the link below. https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/fun/chrischristofi/melbourne If you would like to see Chris experience sleeping out on the coldest nights of the year, please follow him on social media @ChrisChristofi There are many ways you can help - by making a donation, sharing this post with your network or by doing both. Chris appreciates everyones help in spreading the message. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG_arEa3BKU On behalf of the ABSC we would once again like to congratulate Chris Christofi on this initiative and during this remarkable time its even more incredible.
