04.01.2022 BRUMBY ADVOCATES UNITE! What a wonderful meeting at Talbingo on the weekend! The meeting was really well attended (particularly given it was Mothers Day and the... weather in the lead up had been genuinely wild!), with 60 people present, representing a variety of interest groups, rehomers, scientists, photographers and many concerned local citizens as well as people from Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. This meeting proves that the issues facing the Kosciuszko Brumbies are not just local issues people all over Australia and indeed the world are concerned. The outcome of the meeting was to form a board which has been named Australian Snowy Brumby. This board comprises of representatives from the Victorian Brumby Association, Australian Brumby Alliance, Snowy Mountains Bush Users Group, Snowy Mountains Brumby Sustainability and Management Group, Snowy Brumby Heritage, HOOFS 2010 as well as scientists and community representatives. The board will be addressing many issues, supporting work already being done by different groups and individuals and bringing together a united push for our Snowy Brumbies. Focuses are political pressure, developing scientific studies and knowledge, improving Brumby management and welfare, educating the community through youth and welfare programs and promoting the Brumbies to the public and the world. This is the first time that advocates have come together in this way and we are all excited for this next step to saving our Snowy Brumbies. We are determined to speak for the public and committed to continue to consult with other stakeholders to make this work! More information coming soon on Australian Snowy Brumby, who to contact and how you can get involved! See more
