25.01.2022 The Daniel Andrews VIC government has total disdain for the poor, and it shows. Via Victorian Socialists: "The public housing flats are cramped living environments. Why? The government has not expanded the public housing stock for decades. So we have families with 8 kids living in tiny often mould-ridden 2 bedroom flats. 180 flats on 20 floors are serviced by two elevators, which often break down. There are shared laundries that are in a state of disrepair. The State governme...nt has done nothing to increase sanitation in the buildings they run. They put 1 hand sanitation station on the ground floor, which ran out by the end of the week. Most people who in live in the flats work in jobs that can't be done from home. They are our teachers aides, health care workers, uber drivers, factory workers etc. Most are in casual labour with no guarantee of ongoing employment. They will just be replaced if they can't go to work. It was obvious that if COVID cases were to surge, residents in the flats would be in an incredibly vulnerable and dangerous situation. But instead of doing the work of reaching out to community leaders to explain to residents how to stay safe, instead of producing health information in the many languages residents read, instead of massively increasing cleaning in the buildings that the government runs, instead of providing proper income support to those who need to isolate if they get symptoms, the government has put residents in the buildings under siege with 500 police. That's 1 cop per 6 residents. This is an illustration of the contempt the government holds for migrants and the poor."

23.01.2022 The pandemic has returned to South Australia, exposing the flaws in our quarantine and testing systems. As we begin a six day hard lockdown, it's important to discuss how we got here and the public health response we should demand.

From a triple health, economic and climate crisis to the ongoing scourge of police brutality, 2020 has shown why a system that puts profit before human need has to go. ... At the same time we've seen a reemergence of struggle from below. We'll be discussing both the problems of capitalism and the ways we can fight back. 6PM Adelaide Uni, Wednesday 8th July.

15.01.2022 "You have fucked with the last generation". A powerful image. Bristol, England. After the protest tore down a statue of a slaver and threw it in the water, a young black man puts himself it's place. Australia needs to tear down our own racist statues!

13.01.2022 Did folks see that video where the Mayor of Minneapolis was kicked out of a protest, with a sea of protesters yelled, Go home, Jacob, go home! when he would not commit to abolishing the Police Department? (Despite his "I hear you, I see you, I agree with you" rhetoric). Classic democrat, and they should all be treated with the same distain. "In 2016, the Democrats tried to convince the world theyd learned the lessons of Black Lives Matter. They moved swiftly to incorporate many of its public faces into their bureaucracy, which is devoted to administering the racist violence of US capitalism. Four years later, its their cops, their police chiefs, their mayors and their governors facing an uprising. And theyre trying again to act like theyve learned their lesson."

10.01.2022 Due to the current COVID-19 cluster the Adelaide section of the upcoming Revolution! 2020: a Marxist Conference will be taking place online via Zoom over the weekend of November 28-29. We will be connecting up to cross-state discussions with the conferences in other cities, and all sessions will be proceeding as planned. The current global crisis is one of the key reasons we are organising a conference to discuss radical politics and history. The triple economic, climate and ...health crisis have this year exposed the horrors of capitalism, which in each instance put corporate profits ahead of people's lives. If we have thus far been sheltered from some of the worst aspects, this latest outbreak is a reminder that Adelaide is not separate from the global crisis, and a reminder that globally the pandemic continues to rage out of control. In the United States the virus is the worst it has been. It recently saw 160,000 cases in one day for the first time since the outbreak began, and on average over 1000 people are dying from the virus every day. Despite this, President-elect Joe Biden has confirmed that he is firmly against another national lockdown to control the virus. All around the world we have seen governments prioritise the bosses profits ahead of the lives and safety of working class people. This is a crucial time to engage with revolutionary politics, and the ways we can overthrow this murderous system. If you haven't already, get your ticket at revconf2020.com and prepare for a weekend of radical discussion.
09.01.2022 Revolution Conference 2020 is going to be held in person simultaneously in Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra on the 28th and 29th of November. Check out the program and get your ticket today! http://revconf2020.com
08.01.2022 4PM SA time July 1st. The chilling murder of George Floyd, and the subsequent rebellion in cities across America, has exposed the horrific nature of policing in the US. But it's far from a uniquely American problem. Here in Australia we have the killing of over 430 Indigenous people while in custody, the systematic harassment of African and Arab youth, and the targeting of working class communities for arbitrary revenue raising. That's why activists in Australia, France, New ...Zealand, Britain, Austria, Germany and elsewhere have all been on the streets, partly in solidarity with the US protests, but linking them to local injustices. Millions are now discussing the need to disarm, defund and ultimately abolish the police. This forum will explore these issues in detail. What would a world without police look like? Is it even possible? And what would it take to get there?

06.01.2022 Malcolm X and the fight for Black Liberation This Sunday 5:30PM on Zoom! Malcolm X's name has been invoked countless times during this mass uprising because many of the conditions he denounced in his time- structural inequality, police brutality- are still present today. And many are inspired by Malcolm's call to overthrow the capitalist system which divides and oppresses us all. What can we learn about the struggle against racism and capitalism from his life and work?

05.01.2022 The Liberals say Australia never had slavery. We beg to fucking differ! This country was built off of the brutalisation of indigenous people, and the kidnapping of pacific islanders. Indigenous labour was bought and sold in the pastoral industry, people were murdered or starved if they ran. This continued on with the kidnapping and slavery of people from the Pacific Islands, where almost 30% of the people brought here died within the first year. https://redflag.org.au/node/6017 https://theconversation.com/was-there-slavery-in-australia-
04.01.2022 A socialist forum on Zoom Wednesday July 1st 4pm Adelaide time: Livestream: Imagine a world without police
03.01.2022 Absolutely horrific, an indigenous man tasered in the face by cops. We need to riot against this rotten system just like they are in America.
03.01.2022 Zoom meeting next Wednesday.
