25.01.2022 FEBRUARY MONTHLY WRAP UP February was a big month for our Western Australian SOGO community, and one player stood out above the pack in our monthly wrap up... 18 HOLE COMPETITION... Mitch Lane absolutely blitzed the field in February coming in with 118 points [40,40,38]. Mitch had an impressive nine birdies in his best three rounds, the standout being a four-over round at Geraldton Golf Club. Not surprisingly February also saw Mitch's handicap take a tumble, dropping all the way down to 7.8 from 10.2. Fantastic golf Mitch and a well deserved win! Back in second place on 102 points were John Whitehouse and Greg Silman. John had four birdies across his best rounds [34,34,34] all at Geraldton. Greg also snuck in a birdie and another four-pointer at Redland Bay Golf Club to get himself onto the podium. Completing our top five were Geoff Cooper in 4th on 101 points [39,35,27] and sharing 5th on 99 points were Raymond Kirikiri [34,34,31] and Newell Richards [38,31,30]. 9 HOLE COMPETITION Mitch's strong 18 hole performance translated into 9 hole victory, submitting a total of 63 points [22,21,20], which would be competitive in any month. Salvador Jose delivered all of his three rounds playing 9 hole format, posting 61 points [22,20,19]. Salvador played all three at Whaleback Golf Course, and had 13 three-pointers across his three rounds! Brian Moiler came in third on 59 points [22,19,18], only submitting two cards this month. His 40 pointer at Churchill-Waverley Golf and Bowls Club and established two good nines, and then his closing 19 points a few days later cemented his spot on the podium. 10 x three-pointers and 1 x four-pointer in 27 holes is tidy golf. Well done mate! Congratulations to all of our prize winners, keep an eye on your inboxes as we send you access to the SOGO prize store! Enjoy your time on the course and stay safe everyone! 23.01.2022 MARCH MONTHLY WRAP UP Some very attainable results to get amongst the prize winners this month. Where would you have finished on SOGO? Enjoy the monthly wrap up and please drop a comment if you see a name you know 18 HOLE COMPETITION... Brian Roberts found himself well clear of the pack this week with 112 points [38,38,36]. Playing all three rounds at his home course North Adelaide Golf Club, Brian had 12 three-pointers and a four-point birdie . Brian is one of our most regular SOGO players and fast approaching 100 rounds since Jan19. We're really happy to see him get the win this month Greg Silman made it his second silver medal in as many months with a respectable 107 points [40,39,28]. After starting the month with a huge 40 pointer at Victoria Park Golf Complex, Greg was able to back it up with a 39 point round at Redland Bay Golf Club, but couldn't find that final score he need to push him into first place. Still some solid golf and some handy contributions to the 9 hole comp. Cameron Pollard only put up three scores this month at Sawtell Golf-Club and it was enough to find the podium with 105 points [38,33,33]. It was Cameron's first month on SOGO and it's always great to see one of our low handicappers figure in the results. Cameron plays off 2 and had 7 birdies across his three rounds Completing our top five on 104 points were Raymond Kirikiri [37,34,33] and SOGO's own Casey van Loo [38,34,32]. 9 HOLE COMPETITION Greg Silman's best two 18 hole rounds lifted him to 9 hole victory, submitting a total of 61 points [21,20,20]. Brian Roberts fell just one point short on 60 [22,19,19], to share second place honours with Mitch McGlashan [21,20,19]. Mitch is up against it playing off plus one, but that didn't stop him reeling of 10 birdies in 27 holes for an aggregate 8 under par. Some of the best golf we have ever seen on SOGO! 03.01.2022 JANUARY MONTHLY WRAP UP Rolling right along into January, we had a great start to the year with golfers getting in early to start building their totols for 2020. 18 HOLE COMPETITION... One of our most active and mobile golfers Newell Richards got off to a great start to 2020 taking out the 18 hole win with 115 points [42,39,34]. He's been known as a bit of a nine hole specialist but this month Newell was able to put together two great rounds at Gardiners Run Golf Course and RACV Torquay Resort and seal the win on the final day of competition with a much needed 34 pointer at Bay Views Golf Course. Newell managed three birdies but it was his three pointer on the 18th in that final round that saw him across the line. Well done mate Just a single stroke back on 114 points {41,38,35] was A-Grader Benny Gross. Last year Benny brought us some great rounds and even won a Blue Jacket, and it looks like this year he picked up where he left off. Seven birdies and a standout two-under round at Mona Vale Golf Club tell you all you need to know about how Ben is striking it in 2020 Geoff Cooper was third this month on 11 points [37,37,37]. Three consistent rounds were all that was needed to reach the podium and that's exactly what Geoff delivered, reeling off an incredible 19 three-pointers and 1 four-pointer across his best three rounds, all at RACV Healesville Country Club He certainly earned his spot, completing 10 rounds on SOGO during January. Congratulations Geoff! Rounding out the top five were Mitch Lane on 110 points [39,36,35], and Raymond Kirikiri on 108 points [38,35,35]. 9 HOLE COMPETITION Geoff Cooper managed to take home first spot in the short form off the back of some dedicated 9 hole play during January. One of his best two scores came from a cheeky holes mid-month at RACV Healesville Country Club. Geoff's 64 point total [22,22,20] won it by a single point... Great to see some results falling your way! Joel Riddle couldn't quite put together the 18 holes he needed this month, but he sure put together some tidy sides. And none was better than his final round of the month at Windaroo Lakes Golf Club, a nine-hole effort that included 3 four-pointers and a 25 point total Joel's 63 points [25,19,19] left him tied for second with Benny Gross [23,20,20] our other monthly silver medal winner. So close boys! Congratulations to all of our prize winners, keep an eye on your inboxes as we send you access to the SOGO prize store! Enjoy your time on the course and stay safe everyone!
