24.01.2022 It already 32C up here in the Barossa, New Ai1 installed. Moisture looks good, looks like vines will pull thru this hot weather with no problem. Got to love the benefits of a good straw mulch.

23.01.2022 Another day, another probe, another great day in the Clare Valley.

20.01.2022 This graph shows some very interesting information. While growers put a lot of effort into the vine row - mulch, fertilizer and water, the mid row might get a crop, ripped, slashed or sprayed out. In this vineyard, one mid row was ripped and fertilised then rolled over (to minimise gassing off of the fertiliser), the other mid row had rye grass that was rolled just after going to head. The difference in how each row treatment was used by the vine was very noticeable. Soil temperatures were up to 20 C different @ 5 cm, and the use of mid row subsurface moisture by the vine for the same depth e.g. 35-45 cm, was 30 days apart.

19.01.2022 With this being 2020 - it only seems right that Sentek releases its new features - as you can see below it provides instant clarity to how your crop is performing therefore giving every grower 2020 vision of the past and the future. While the top graph has all the information , the new Irrigation Analysis option provides instant confirmation and for growers, with 5, 10 or 20 sites a quick coffee and 5 min and they are on top of their entire crop status #clarity #focused - they can then spend an extra hour in the field each day making their crop better.

18.01.2022 Looking at ways to display current soil water status, this information will be automated in the near future to integrate with your irrigation system. The plan in the next 8-12 months is to move away from time / date based irrigation and move towards crop requirement based irrigation.

17.01.2022 A Question you may ask yourself, "Can I justify continuous real time soil moisture monitoring"?A Question you may ask yourself, "Can I justify continuous real time soil moisture monitoring"?

16.01.2022 A perfect evening in the Clare Valley installing a few Sentek Ai1 soil moisture probes.

15.01.2022 Trial of new Sentek 60 cm Drill and Drop probe, in Lurcrne. Irrigated using a Traveling Irrigator, soil is Sandy Loam.

11.01.2022 When it comes to managing irrigation line pressure down stream from the valve, gives you a true realtime status of your system. The New wireless pressure sensor will update every 5 minutes the base station also provides a realtime "Heartbeat" of all components providing peace of mind in regards to system status. The compact design and integrated power supply keeps the system out of harm's way and will run for 2-3 years on a single battery pack.

11.01.2022 Adelaide Wine Show - IPV proudly sponsoring the KARL SEPPELT AO TROPHY for "Best other Varietal Red in Show". Congratulations to Ferngrove Wines for winning with their 2018 Black Label Malbec, This year's "Legend of the Vine" is Pam Dunsford - congratulations Pam!

10.01.2022 The Team at Sentek has really ramped up the ability for growers and agro's to get the most from their soil moisture data.

09.01.2022 Last weeks heatwave was hard to avoid if you found yourself outside above ground-level. We found it interesting what was happening below ground level. The First graph shows the importance of having good subsoil moisture during heatwaves - note the increase of water uptake as the heat increased. Also note the uptake in "Ripped mid row vs rolled", will be interesting to see if the vine starts using the moisture in the "Rolled" mid row. The Second graph shows the difference i...n soil temperature in the Ripped vs Rolled in this case we were looking at a 12 C difference 5 cm below the surface. The Third graph shows the temperature in a control, mulch and straw treatment. The main point to note is the 5 C difference between Straw and Control.

04.01.2022 "We are getting the band together." So we can give some of those growers affected by the fire's in the hills a hand. More very soon.

04.01.2022 Want to know what is happening underground during and after an irrigation....? Let's go underground an have a look. "2D Soil Water Movement V2" on YouTube... https://youtu.be/G-Ivm9gAqdE
