10.01.2022 Our Samson Challenge photos are now available https://www.sokimages.com.au/lismore-samson-challenge-2020- It's just 4 weeks since the Lismore Samson Fitness Challenge, and yet life has turned upside down for so many in that short space of time. ... There is something surreal about our Samson photo collection this year... who could have known that these moments of teamwork and togetherness that seemed so normal at the time, would seem so distant so soon after. With less than 8 minutes to the event cut-off at 6am this morning, B100 legend Dave Elms lunges for Blackall Bell to ring in his membership to the exclusive "700KM club" (reserved for the few brave souls who have now completed all 7 B100s since its inception in 2014). A nerve wracking end to a TOUGH 24 hours!... Dave has plenty of yarns from his years of B100 experiences, but we want to hear YOUR favourite from YOUR OWN adventures yesterday. Was it ticking off your first ever ultra? Or making the jump from 50 to 100KM? Maybe it was a PB? Was it conquering the heat, or conquering your own mind? B100 is such a unique race in many respect... and it's perhaps the only event where Death's sweet embrace doesn't muck around (He comes to greet you before you even reach CP2!! ). To win your photos, simply caption this image from the 2019 B100 before 5PM Monday 21st of October. Best comment (as judged by us) will be announced soon after, and the contributor's prize is all their images w...here their bib number was visible. We'll supplier them in high res digital format. Note: Although Mr G. Reaper only features on the 100KM course, the comp is open to any 50KM and 100KM participant.

06.01.2022 "MATESHIP" Today marks 10 years since we first captured The Kokoda Challenge in images. Like many, we were gutted to hear the Kokoda Challenge events were cancelled for 2020. The coverage of our 11th Gold Coast event would be kicking off right about now... Over the years we've taken over 100,000 images. We've been humbled to be entrusted with documenting the adventures, adversity and achievement of thousands of participants. ... And yet, when it came time to pick a favourite photo out of the mountains of images amassed over a decade, one single shot stood out above the rest. It didn't depict trekkers, mountains, support crews, checkpoints or blisters. Instead it's a moment between Kokoda Veterans Jim Stillman (39th Battalion) and Clarrie Meredith (53rd Battalion) sharing a laugh at the finish line of the 2013 Kokoda Challenge event. Despite their advanced years, Jim and Clarrie would enthusiastically congratulate the finishers by shaking their hands, presenting dog tags and chatting with the weary trekkers. They seemed genuinely thrilled to be involved each year, and it was a special honour for those participants who got the chance to meet them. Jim died in 2016, Clarrie in 2018. Their absence at the event in the years since is a sobering reminder of our duty to preserve their legacy. I hope our imagery can play a small part in fulfilling it. Lest we forget.

Come along to the free 'Kokoda Challenge Information Session and Expo' if you're interested to hear any of the insights and observations I've picked up over the past 15 years of involvement I've had with the event as a participant and photographer. My workshops are targeted at the 1st timers who just want to get through the event with their toenails and friendships intact.
