21.01.2022 Good, bad, sad and lovely memories - so much water under the bridge since this photo was taken in 2016, and here it is almost that time of year again when the Solace Christmas Function provides a safe place where the bereaved can be part of the celebrations of Christmas - a safe place amongst supporting friends, who understand how difficult Christmas can be for the bereaved - a place where the bereaved dont have to pretend to be happy and joyous if that is not how they feel.

12.01.2022 CHRISTMAS AND GRIEF Christmas can be a difficult time when you are grieving the death of a loved one; it can be a time that intensifies your sadness and sense of loss, so its important to take extra care of yourself during the festive season, and plan ahead. Most people will follow your lead, so let them know how you are feeling and dont push yourself beyond your social limits. If you want to join in the festivities but dont know how you will cope, make a plan so that yo...u can escape if you become overwhelmed. Most of us dont want to be seen to spoil the fun of others, but you dont have to pretend to be happy, if that is the expectation then that is a time when an escape plan is good to have. Remember though, it is not a betrayal if you do have a good time. You might plan to be alone, do something for yourself, go somewhere special or unusual, do something you might have done with or for your loved one, any of these decisions are OK. But above all: have a plan. See more
