25.01.2022 Yes Ive had the odd pair of shoes ruined, in my early days, but Ive never had a dog let me down ever

25.01.2022 A very interesting read with in relation to having a pup at this time-is this a good time to get the dog weve been thinking about getting for some time. If know of anybody whos thinking of getting a puppy or has just recently had one, pls forward this onto them

23.01.2022 To every domesticated dog (canis familaris) out there, meet your closest living relative, The Wolf (canis lupus). Can you notice any similarities???? Yes they howl but the domesticated dog doesn’t. Do you know why??? What else can you notice or choose not to see???

23.01.2022 What is socialisation and why its so important. In essence, it's all about exposing your puppy to as many different stimuli and environments, particularly in the major developmental stage of a puppy, being 5-14 weeks of age. This is the critical stage where anything that happens, good or bad experiences will stay with them for life.... Sure genetics do contribute in part to your dogs temperament however, the upbringing, socialisation and training play a huge part in how your puppy will deal with new experiences and life in general. It is so important that you are consistent with clear boundaries and voice commands all the time with your puppy. It's a big wide world out there and the more you help them become happy and confident, the better for everyone.

22.01.2022 Heads up for your info

22.01.2022 Absolutely stunning

22.01.2022 A beautiful thought

21.01.2022 Did you know that wolves, dingoes & all other apex predators are an essential part of the ecosystem- here’s why .....

21.01.2022 Build it & they will come. Amazing footage of animals of all shapes & sizes using a wildlife overpass in Utah.

21.01.2022 Do not choose a dog based on LOOKS or SIZE. Making the right match for your lifestyle is the most important.

20.01.2022 I can't look. Tell me when this year is over

19.01.2022 So how does your 4 legged buddy go in the public sphere? If you know of anyone who may benefit with some help, pls forward this onto them.

16.01.2022 If you spot these or something similar on your dog walks pls ensure you do not allow your dog to ingest the mushrooms or toadstools. This where the YUK command can come in very handy. By just using this one simple word command, you potentially may save their life. These fungicides are in most cases, highly toxic & can at least, make your dog very sick & in the worst case, may even kill. So next time youre out with your buddy, keep an eye out & watch what theyre up to do instead of being glued to your phone.

14.01.2022 Can anyone relate to this??? I sure can

14.01.2022 Have a fantastic day-enjoy new born pup vision

14.01.2022 Have a read-it just might give you something to think about

12.01.2022 What is your dog telling you? Can you understand what they are trying to tell you? Dogs are social animals, and just like us they communicate using their body through movement just like we speak a verbal language with our mouth and voice. When your best buddy is feeling submissive they can signal this by either muzzle, ear or lip licking (image 1) & showing teeth or blinking. ... Frightened or stressed dogs can yawn (no they're not tired), lip licking (image 1) or tense jaw or the 'whale eye' (image 2), and the most common signal is the hair on the back of the neck stands up to make them appear bigger, body leaning forward with tense mouth and staring eyes (image 2) The curious canine will communicate this by cocking their head to the side, lifting of the front paw (image 3) which is something like anticipating what to do next. The big shake off is actually your buddy moving from one activity to moving onto another. Like us moving from watching a good movie to writting a paper on quantum physics. Want to know more? 11.01.2022 This very helpful information re your dog. Remember your dog is not & will never be a substitute child, lover or grandchild. Its a DOG.

11.01.2022 Reminder to support local

11.01.2022 Remember while you are working from home at the moment, it is important to make sure you give your dog some time out away from you. This will be very helpful when you go back to work, they will be able to cope with your long absence away from the family home. This is particularly important if you have recently acquired a new dog or puppy - at the moment they are used to you being around all the time.... How are they going to cope once you head back to the office and the kids head back to school? Some tips could include having a special spot with a toy such as a kong stuffed with treats, such as peanut butter or small pieces of sausage. Perhaps an enrichment toy such as foobler puzzle feeder that is an automatic feeder with a timer activated food pods - this can be set at various time intervals throughout the day (up to 9 hours/day). Some signs that indicate your dog is stressed/not coping can be:- Barking or whinning Digging holes in the lawn or garden Pacing up and down the garden Panting Avoidance Hiding or escaping Always ensure your best friend gets regular exercise, as this can also be a good stress release too.

11.01.2022 Pls pass this around. Do you know where your pup has come from??? Unfortunately I regularly deal with clients, who unbeknown to them, their cute sweet bundle of fury has a host of behavioural issues as a result of the environment they spent their first 8 weeks in. Pls either buy from a reputable breeder or rescue organisation.

10.01.2022 Trainer Annie & her German Shepherd Mutz (Castastar Elmo HIT, CCD, CD) have just been awarded the National Obedience Competition 2019 in Novice Dog (CD) by The German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia. It is a great honour & privilege to be awarded this by the Council. Annie & Mutz are now training for the next level in national obedience titles, being CDX. This involves several retrieval exercises of which one involves going over a jump, collecting the article, on command & then returning over the jump & delivering it to the handler.

09.01.2022 Anthromorphism-the tendency to attribute human characteristics to animals or inanimate objects.

09.01.2022 Heads up-another potential baiting in the area. Pls be on the alert when out walking your dogs.

09.01.2022 This is where your beloved canid comes from-can you see any resemblance??

08.01.2022 This so wrong in so many areas. An excellent example of anthromorphism

08.01.2022 I wont say anything more ....

08.01.2022 How Much Exercise is Appropriate for your Puppy? So youre working from home, the puppy the kids have always wanted has now arrived and now that you have some spare time up your sleeve, you now wonder how much exercise should I be giving the newest member? According to *Dr. Sandra Hassett BVSc, MBA, MIVCA, CCRT a senior veterinary rehab specialist who advises that puppies are exactly like children. They do not have any concept of how much activity is safe or could be potent...ially harmful for them. Dr. Hassett has stated that puppies bones & joints, tendons & ligaments are not fully developed until the dog is approximately 18 months old (and that is also depends on the breed as well). So how do you avoid any long term damage and at the same time give the pup the appropriate amount of correct exercise and socialising as it grows & develops? 1. Keep your pup on lead at all times so that play is all about rumbles and balance rather than zoomies in the park. 2. Balance & coordination instead of those zoomies off-lead in the park. Walking on lead and learning to balance and coordinate on different surfaces; walk through ladders or step over poles, walk across slopes and along banks and walking in mud, water, sand & gravel for example. 3. Work their brains as much as their body - teach them lots of new activities such as sits, down/drops, roll overs, stands, high 5s with both left & right paws, find, fetch & bring toys - the more they learn, the more coordinated and agile they become. 4. When the pup is over 6 months of age, start to slowly and carefully build up their exercise routine. Never allow any high impact sustained activity (jogging or running with a bike) until the dog is at least 18 months of age. When you do, it is imperative that you take is slowly - and strength and endurance exercises take time to build up. *Dr. Hassett is the Director & Owner of Canine Rehabilitation Centre in the ACT and is married to trainer Annies cousin.

05.01.2022 A STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON HOW TO BE A CARELESS & INCONSIDERATE DOG OWNER 1. Take your dog off lead, then try to call them back to you and when they refuse, move to step 2. 2. Take out your phone and become completely engrossed with as much social media as possible whilst your dog is running rampant.... 3. After many, many minutes have passed, bring your head up to reconnect with the real world but only seconds before your dog is about to approach an unsuspecting human or dog. 4. As your dog is being a public nuisance and approaching uninterested parties, look on with very little concern. You must it very clear in your blank facial expression that you do not see any issues with this scenario. 5. When the person or dog becomes increasingly pissed off with the situation and/or is ready to react DO NOT rush to gain control of your dog & diffuse the situation. Just take your time and let things play out - Im sure it will work itself out as my dog has never done this stuff before, EVER. 6. Ensure you walk over slowly and maintain a dumbfounded look is on your face. Attempt to recall your dog multiple times with complete failure each time. 7. When the very frustrated person and dog have finally had enough of your lack of care for them and your own dog, ensure your face expression is extremely shocked, particularly when youre told to "PUT YOUR F%^&*@#$ING DOG ON A LEAD. This will convey to the other person that they are actually the ones that are in the wrong. 8. If you have ticked all of the above points, then well done - you are officially a careless and inconsiderate dog owner. Never let anyone tell you what to do - you know everything.
