25.01.2022 Spotted gum corner cladding and window framing have been getting installed this week on our small Eco Home build.

23.01.2022 Some new shelving and new doorway into our home office. Wow, builders are so noisy and dusty. I've decided I don't like home renovations and take my hat off to anyone who undertakes home renovations. Will post the end result in a few weeks when we get our doors.

22.01.2022 Port Fairy kitchen renovation. From a dated salmon pink colour to refreshing new shades of Lexicon. Check out these progress pic's. Once renovations are complete this home will be offered for sale. Situated on the river, only a few minutes walk to the main street in Port Fairy, the beach and the wharf. What more could you want for a holiday home or a home haven this place has it all.

19.01.2022 Recycled vanity, tapware and doors in this gorgeous Eco Home bathroom.

14.01.2022 Zero threshold grate. Just some exterior concreting required to finish this off nicely.

14.01.2022 This plug top has burnt up due to not being plugged in properly. Make sure your appliances are fully plugged into power outlets and not loose or wobbly, especially for heaters and other items that draw a lot of power.

14.01.2022 Solar Trees are "growing" in popularity around the world with different manufacturers installing their own unique designs in many countries. A Solar Tree can pr...ovide a shady spot to sit and the power produced can be used for phone chargers, LED lights and even to cool drinking water. Great idea!

14.01.2022 White Ant/Termite warning. Local conditions this evening mean that termites are quite active. They are attracted to the light, so we always close our curtains and turn off any outdoor lights in order to make our home less attractive to the termites. Remember to be wary of termite activity around your area and do visual checks of your home to avoid infestation.

12.01.2022 White Ant/Termite warning. Local conditions this evening mean that termites are quite active. Before termites settle they are airborne with wings. They are attracted to the light, so we always close our curtains and turn off any outdoor lights in order to make our home less attractive to the termites. Remember to be wary of termite activity around your area and do visual checks of your home to avoid infestation.

12.01.2022 Alfresco addition underway. Getting in early ready for summer entertaining and lazy days relaxing.

12.01.2022 A room with a view. We'll be adding the finishing touches to this renovation in Port Fairy soon. Can't wait to go back!

11.01.2022 Progress on this small Eco Home. We've taken a 5 week holiday from work travelling to Canada and Alaska but it's full steam ahead now getting many of our customers jobs finished prior to Christmas.

11.01.2022 Gotta love some Hershey Milk Chocolate

11.01.2022 A burnished concrete floor undergoing a 200 grit sand and seal process.

11.01.2022 Cladding is almost done on the current eco home we are building. These North facing windows will make the home cosy and warm in the winter time.

10.01.2022 Almost got the school toilets finished. Will be doing finishing touches tomorrow before the little kiddies come back from holidays.

10.01.2022 Frame stage for this small home.

09.01.2022 Our clients are super happy with this custom ply ceiling which flows from the dining & living straight out to their pergola. The daylight really captures the beautiful natural pattern of the timber.

08.01.2022 LVL beams now in place.

08.01.2022 Supporting mental health awareness today at our builder's conference. Check out "Trademutt" who sell these shirts. They're bright and colourful and are designed to get us all talking about mental health to support each other. Particularly the guys in the trade industry who can often suffer with mental health issues. Get the conversation started!

07.01.2022 We're currently changing our business logo for Solar City Eco Homes, so look out for the updates. I'll be changing them over on Facebook, Instagram & Tumblr (once I work out how - haha) and also updating our website. We thank our loyal customers for their repeat work, and the support you give us allowing our business to grow. Many thanks!

07.01.2022 A beautiful bathroom renovation. So much to love about this.

06.01.2022 Just finished this renovation in Port Fairy today. New vinyl floor, kitchen cabinets, painting, lighting, blinds and sheers. Looks so fresh . Thanks to Matt from Kitchen Bath and Tile Co for recommending his trades since we don't normally work in Port Fairy.

05.01.2022 New alfresco ready for enjoying these beautiful sunny days. Providing summer shade in the living area, from the hot westerly afternoon sun.

05.01.2022 New ramp...making life a little easier for an older couple. Sometimes the simplest thing like going out the door can be a real challenge. It's so rewarding to bring some independence back to people.

04.01.2022 Alfresco entertaining underway ready for Summer.

04.01.2022 Hershey Chocolate at Niagara Falls

03.01.2022 Almost ready for some roofing.

02.01.2022 Progress of a small renovation we completed before Christmas. Double glazed windows were installed making these bedrooms super comfortable in this hot summer. The extension was well insulated and the existing ceiling space also got new insulation.

01.01.2022 Receiving feedback such as this makes us want to come to work every single day. Thanks Ross & Sherrell for your kind words. Hello All, if anyone out in facebook world is after quality workmanship and needs a renovation completed, I highly recommend you give Justin & Andrea a call from JMAR Construction Pty Ltd (trading as Solar City Eco Homes). JMAR just completed our en-suite renovation which came up amazing. JMAR is not necessarily the cheapest, but what you get is a commit...ment to the quote, quality workmanship, advice on how to improve your renovation and communication daily to advise you of progress and next steps along the way. They encourage the customer to be upfront if something is not quite right and only to happy to assist with working through a quality solution. For example, Justin modified the height of our architraves in the en-suite so the architraves were all at the same height, so the tiling could finish all at one height. In another instance, to no fault of JMAR, after we had a shower, water was present on the tiles outside the shower. This was from over-splash and condensation running down the glass door. We discussed this with Justin & Andrea who promptly came around and offered a professional solution that looks part of the renovation. There is minimal to no water on the tiles outside the shower now. These situations give you a real good insight into JMAR's professionalism. JMAR put themselves in the customers shoes and strive to make your building and renovation experience a memorable one for the right reasons. We understand not everything always goes to plan and how they respond in these situations is what really sets them apart from others in the industry. Thank you Justin & Andrea for helping us improve our home. Ross & Sherrell Russo

01.01.2022 The start of a small Eco Home. Under 8 squares of living. This home will be so cost effective to run. North facing concrete polished floors will be the main source of heating, combined with good insulation and design means there will be little need for air-conditioning too.
