25.01.2022 Sonas Atwell - Our Christmas Preparation All week the children were preparing for Christmas through meticulously painting baubles to place on their Christmas tree and baking cookies for Santa. Throughout the learning experiences the children and Educators’ shared their Christmas memories experience with family and friends. In addition, we expressed our hopes and wishes for the day particularly focussing on the presents Santa could potentially place under our tree, oh and not... to forget and yummy delicious treats. The conversation shared helps build deep and meaningful relationships with Educator and child, in turn strengthening/developing a strong sense of belonging at Sonas Atwell. #aussiexmas #playgrouplearning #learningthroughplay @sonaschildcare #sonaschildcare #sonasearlylearning #sonasatwell Read more https://bit.ly/2O0m1yR

25.01.2022 Sonas Atwell - Hocus Pocus Recently the children of Sonas Atwell have been so intrigued by mixing and blending elements from within their environments and talking about potions so we thought what a great way for us to experiment, create our very own potions and discover some wonderful and whacky science together along the way. We even dressed up for the occasion Thankfully there werent any spells cast that could not be reversed.... #sonasatwellhocuspocus #sonaskidslovescience #sonasatwelllovetomakepotions @sonaschildcare #sonaschildcare #sonasearlylearning #sonasatwell Read more https://bit.ly/2O0m1yR

24.01.2022 Sonas Baldivis - Colourful Worms This morning in the kindy and toddler room we explored some colourful paper worms. Integrating science with colour recognition the children were given the opportunity to use water combined with ink and watch the worms wiggle and expand colour. During this experience we opened the opportunity to discuss what was happening to the worms when we added the water and what colour they were. Once we had finished adding the water to the wiggly worms, ...we squeezed out the colour and watched as they combined creating a variety of different colours and finishing with a brown. During activities like these it gives the children the opportunity to hypothesis the theory behind the mixing of the colours and why the worms began to wriggle when water is added. @sonaschildcare #sonaschildcare #sonasearlylearning #sonasbaldivis Read more https://bit.ly/2CXpV8N

24.01.2022 Sonas Atwell - Sink or Float Experiment Will it float, or will it sink? Was the inquiry question at Sonas Atwell. In preparation for their experiment the children and educator gathered a few objects and filled a container with water, then the fun started. Before adding objects to the water, we wondered and made inference whether the object would sink or float. Together with the educator the children tested the density and buoyancy of the objected. The children made fantas...tic predictions deducing their hypothesis on weight, size and construction; however, the peeled and unpeeled orange was a big surprise for most of the children. Our little scientist discussed the concepts with the educator and discovered that air and little itsy-bitsy molecules within the item only visible with a microscope were responsible for such a magical outcome. Our little scientist had so much fun and they are waiting in anticipation for our next science experiment. #STEM #Scienceisfun #learningthroughplayandexperimenting @sonaschildcare #sonaschildcare #sonasearlylearning #sonasatwell Read more https://bit.ly/2O0m1yR

22.01.2022 Sonas Atwell - Caring For Our Babies One of our favourite dramatic play experiences is caring for our pretend Sonas babies. With the educator the children share their ideas of caring for babies and experiences they observed. A few beautiful comments were made:... warm hugs will make him sleep best. keep your baby like this, she will sleep good. kisses make her feel good when baby cries.’ The experience provides the educator the opportunity to engage in discussion about caring for each other particularly focussing on someone younger. It is wonderful to see the children transfer knowledge of possible prior experience through demonstrating their gentle hands and using many endearing words whilst engaging with their babies. @sonaschildcare #sonaschildcare #sonasearlylearning #sonasatwell Read more https://bit.ly/2O0m1yR

19.01.2022 Sonas Wattle Grove - Christmas Craft Creating Homemade Decorations. This month at Sonas Wattle Grove the children have been busily making some Christmas craft to take home for their parents. In Kindy and in Pre-school the children have been enjoying making some salt dough tree decorations. We started out by making some salt dough, making sure it was just right before rolling it out into a thin sheet. Then they picked which shape they would like to create from the cookie cu...tters. They could choose a tree, a gingerbread man, an angel, a star, and a candy cane. Once they had cut it out, we baked it in the oven, and then once cooled, decorated it with some paint and glitter. The end result was beautiful tree hanging decorations. @sonaschildcare #sonaschildcare #sonasearlylearning #sonaswattlegrove Read more http://bit.ly/32xyeQT
