25.01.2022 WHEN VULNERABILITY BEARTHS ART With my song release for RAIN coming out in just two weeks I want to acknowledge the power of vulnerability as a midwife to creat...ivity. I received this song during a swell of grief and prayer for the Amazon fires - refining it during when my homeland Australia set afire... I always find as a songwriter it is the moments that I surrender into my greatest depths that the muse will meet me. To meet myself and hold my vulnerability with presence, reverence and curiosity as I channel the emotions (energy in motion) and beArth it into a song. On the contrary to most people, Vulnerability has never been something I struggle with. In fact it is the torch with which I lead and hold for those that come for transformation through body work, sound or vocal journeys. Vulnerability gives us the key to raw primal emotion and the core essence of our being. Rather than seeing it as a weakness I understand it as our greatest strength when held with grace and without shame. From that place a person can echo into the halls of another’s heart, piercing truth and authentic expression. Creativity is ripe in this liminal and often uncomfortable space, through which we are humbled by the unknown and the vast territories of our inner landscape. When we hold this space with reverence and compassion, we have the ability to heal ourselves and others, to transform with new found perspective and compassion just by being open and surrendered to the pulsing rhythms of our hearts. - Olivia Rosebery, Song of the Earth We are capable of suffering with our world, and that is the true meaning of compassion. 14.01.2022 REGENERATION We move through cycles of death and rebirth constantly in our lives. In order for the new to birth we must give space for transformation and let ...the old die. And so often we hear the phrase Ashes to ashes, dust to dust whereby we are reminded of the cycle and impermanence of life, the fragility of our being. Yet it also speaks to the resurrection of life - where the phoenix rises from the ashes. The ash, the residue of what was, is like the wisdom that has been gathered and the refined awareness that is used to alchemise, regenerate and resurrect life. In the wake of the #wildfires that swept the globe we witnessed the death and destruction of fire, homes burnt to the ground, lives lost. As a global community we have and continue to mourn and grieve what was lost and were shocked into a global reality check of how fragile and disconnected we are to our surroundings, our #motherearth. Let us not forget. The fires were a haunting cry and wake up to the unstable foundations and dis-ease of our global community. The wild fires proved to us how ignorant and naive we are in our relationship with the earth; how we have fallen short in living in a way that is not only sustainable but implementing the wisdom of our first nations, ancient knowledge and developing right relationship with land that would include practises and systems that would have prevented global warming and ecological crisis like we have now. I wrote RAIN as a call for water to not only put out the fires but to purify humanity - to inspire a new way of regenerative living, where we as one global community can come together and learn from our mistakes, to hold the ashes in the palms of our hand and open to the rebirthing of our society; to prioritise a new way of living in symbiosis and communion with the earth. 03.01.2022 HAPPY SPRING EQUINOX There is a time to blossom, when the day and night are in balance and the vibrancy of life can be felt in the humming of the butterflies, ...the buzzing of the bees and the dance of the swaying winds amidst the morning glistening leaves. A fresh warmth to the sweet pollen air, spring brings renewal and rebirth - the vision of fresh beginnings, of flowering potential. Beauty abounds when we see the life blossoming in all, even on the precipice of decay - for we witness on the equinox the balance of life - and how the dark, unknown of winter is so necessary to let go to the space of fertile earth in order to germinate the seeds of new beginnings and the fresh flowering of spring. This morning I woke to mulch my little herb garden planted just yesterday and felt a lift in my whole being. I set up for my massage client, had a cup of nettle tea and then put on my joggers to go for a run and pick some flowers on a nearby trail.
