25.01.2022 Celebrating #chocolatesday I'm all for the dark variety, home made so you control the ingredients! I really enjoy this chocolate, not too sweet or bitter with a creamy nut paste texture. Made with real ingredients and love. No additives... 1/2 cup of cacao butter melted 1/2 cup coconut oil 1/2 cup of almond butter or nut/ seed of your choice. 1/2 -1 cup cacao powder - good quality has a stronger flavour. 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 tablespoon of Raw earth stevia/monk fruit powder. Or 2 tablespoons honey or real maple syrup. Pinch of salt. Place all in a double saucepan and heat till melted. Stir till butters, powder, liquid is mixed. Spoon into paper or chocolate tray. Add nuts as desired. Refrigerate. Some find the stevia has an aftertaste so it's a case of trial and error. 25.01.2022 Whilst it is still not too hot I have been enjoying midday walks. Benefits for me include getting off my arse which is feeling very flat. I'm spending way too much time sitting on it. A problem many of us suffer from no doubt.... Depending where I'm working from I either take a change of clothes and utilise my lunch break or when at home I get out for some movement which excites the dogs no end. The bonus is I get some sun & listen to a podcast, I find it clears my mind, helps sleep, keeps up my steps or my incidental exercise and reduces stress. I've learnt to keep adapting and finding new ways of looking after my health. 24.01.2022 Running on empty? I remember when my life felt like it was dragging me along and I could just keep up. The image of the mouse running inside the wheel going nowhere comes to mind. Only having the energy to do the essential tasks. When you are chronically tired, cranky, and can't remember what you used to enjoy or do for fun. This is a big waving flag that all is not well! Living like this is exhausting and will create hormonal turmoil. That is to say, you are living predomi...nantly on the hormones of stress. In your body stress hormone production takes priority over reproductive hormones. It’s an evolutionary thing. So, what to do? 1. Acknowledge your life choices are not serving you. As hard as it is to hear that. 2. What is sucking your energy? This could be an endless list I realise but try to narrow it down. Work demands, family demands, financial pressures, health issues, sleep disturbances, poor diet, lack of exercise, relationships, behaviors like pleasing others, not being able to say no, etc. 3. What is feeding or supporting energy levels? You may struggle but examples could be sleep, a weekend away, a phone call to a good friend, a walk on the beach, being alone, eating well Make a little positive change today and repeat it daily e.g. Go to sleep 15-30 mins earlier. 10.01.2022 Women so typically feel guilty scheduling time for themselves. I still must watch this myself. Watch that I'm open to receiving and not putting my needs on hold. In reality Self-care is just treating yourself to the care & consideration you would give to another. Imagine being a carer for a small child. You would provide nutritious meals, make sure they sleep well, have time for play, fun & learning, attend to their hygiene needs and tend to them if sick...... 09.01.2022 What have your learnt about yourself? I was a stressed-out jittery mess with tremors. I still get them at times and It’s a red flag to me to chillout. Even though you may be struggling through some of the symptoms of perimenopause like exhaustion, sleeping issues, weight gain, brain fog... And even though it’s a common experience it doesn’t have to be your whole experience. ... Sure, we get symptoms and I’m not saying they are all instantly curable. But if we can listen and learn to care for ourselves more. Give our body the right information in the form of real food, sleep, movement rest etc. Reduce the stressors, chemicals, negative thoughts and we can have a much easier ride. I'm passionate about do in it as clean as possible, just makes sense to me.
