19.01.2022 In her works, Nicolette Johnson explores symmetry, botanical motifs, and the importance of the artefact. Working in stoneware and employing wheel-throwing, coiling, and sculpting techniques, Nicolette applies a modern aesthetic to re-imagined ancient forms. Her work is included in public collections at the National Gallery of Victoria and the Museum of Brisbane and in private collections throughout Australia. Johnson's first solo exhibition at the gallery will open in November 2020. To enquire about available works or join our waiting list for new works, please contact the gallery ([email protected]). 17.01.2022 @juliamaygorman’s colourful, art-filled home and studio is featured on @apartmenttherapy. In her works, Gorman attempts to capture the intangible. She explains, ‘My work is improvisational and provisional, and I never want it to look laboured. I want it to be buoyant and bursting with life and movement’. This buoyancy is also reflected in her home and studio spaces. Images: Julia Gorman’s home featured on Apartment Therapy. Photos: Natalie Jeffcott #juliagorman #apartmenttherapy #sophiegannongallery

08.01.2022 https://thedesignfiles.net//art-paul-davies-space-displac/ Thank you to The Design Files for featuring Paul Davies' exhibition 'Space Displaced' on at the gallery now.

08.01.2022 Combining acrylic paint, photography and stencil art, LA-based Australian artist Paul Davies creates bold paintings and sculptures that focus on the relationship between the built and natural environments. About his work, Davies explains, 'I am interested in the idealistic nature of modern architecture; this idea that the home can be neutral and devoid of detail to serve a functional purpose. Through the medium of paint however, the hard edges of these structures are softened to become playful spaces open to the possibilities of the individual'. Davies's next solo exhibition at the gallery will open in September 2020. To join our waiting list for new works, please contact the gallery ([email protected]).
