07.01.2022 Tomorrow, May 21st marks International Tea Day Tea is the worlds most-consumed drink, after water. Its production and processing constitute a main source ...of livelihoods for millions of families. The tea industry provides jobs and plays a central role in rural development. As the UN reminds us: "Tea production and processing contribute to the reduction of extreme poverty (SDG 1), the fight against hunger (SDG 2), the empowerment of women (SDG 5) and the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems (SDG 15)". Women constitute more than 50% of the workforce on tea plantations and often do not have access to education. #wednesdaywisdom #westandupforwomen #soroptimisteurope #internationalteaday #womensempowerment #SDG #eleanorroosevelt See more

01.01.2022 Physically distanced and sanitised, we were finally able to meet face to face at our Monthly Meeting last Tuesday. We had quite a few guests, including Lorraine Hewitt, President of the South Perth/Como branch of the CWA, who gave us an indication of how closely aligned our organisations are. If you are feeling post-Covidly energetic, why not come to a meeting as a guest and see what you can contribute to help women and girls, locally, nationally and internationally.
