25.01.2022 Battle of the rip Great day at Queenscliff today for the Annual match. A minute silence was held for club legend Geoff Morgan in front of a great crowd. Queenscliff batting first and posted 8/227 off their 40 overs, best of the bowlers was James Rulach 7 overs 3 wickets for 28 runs.Charlie stokes picked up one as well as Charlie Wigg. Sorrento going into bat, off to a shaky start were soon 2/16 off 4.... Paddy Hall came to the crease and formed good partnerships with Seth Hughes(14) and young Matt Rulach (20)Jedd Falck (28). Paddy went out for a well made 50,Leigh Poholke dominated his time along with Ken King,Charlie Stokes James Rulach. Leigh showed his dominance with a sensational 62 not out to get Sorrento over the line. A big thanks to all our supporters who came along and all the players who represented our club today , a great win for Geoffrey See more

18.01.2022 A sad day for the Sorrento Community with the passing of local legend Geoff Morgan. Morgo, 81, died peacefully last night whilst watching his beloved Blues after a short battle with cancer. Morgo is survived by wife Cynthia (after enjoying 54 years of marriage), and children Bradley, Venessa, and grandsons Jayden and Ashton. Morgo was a tireless worker at both the Sorrento Football and Cricket Clubs, where he is the only person to have received life membership of both,... and where he served on the Executive of both clubs over many many years. Indeed, he became somewhat of an Institution due to his passion, commitment and razor sharp mind which thankfully accompanied him through to the very end of his long and distinguished life. Geoff will be sorely missed by all. Beautiful words provided by David Caspar

04.01.2022 Sorrento Cricket Club Match Reports - Round 2 Proudly Sponsored by THE PAINT PLACE ROSEBUD. Sorrento CC 1st XI : ... 1st XI travelled to Baxter We won the toss and decided to bat We didn’t get off to a great start with Corey and Bob falling early to be 2/7 Jedd and Liam then battled hard and steadied the ship with a 47 run stand before they both fell with the score on 54 From there it was all Baxter and we were all out for a disappointing 68 With not much to bowl to Woody 1/21 off 8 and Benchy 0/23 off 8 battled hard but with Baxter taking no risk cruised to the win 1 down Disappointing day and one to forget quickly We take on the newly promoted Red Hill next week at home and need to get on the winners board Sorrento CC 2nd XI : The 2’s returned to shark for the first time this year to take on Baxter Losing the toss we were thrown in to bat that decision by the Baxter captain turned out to be a good one with Rhys Musgrave (37) the only one in the top 5 to get off the mark and when he went out the sharks looked to be in serious trouble at 6/46 in came the fossils Robbie Dunball (32) and Benny McDonald (25) smacked a few around to give us a total we could defend. We finished 10/111 off 36.3 overs The sharks had to be at the of our game with the ball and take our chances in the field to be any chance of winning the game. Matty Rulach setting the standard early with a direct hit run out in the first over got us up and about and just as they did last week Charlie Wigg (2/15 off 8 and Benny McDonald (1/7 off 8 bowled amazingly as did Luke Mckenzie (2/25 off 7) and Leigh Poholke (1/5 off 4.4) With 3 run outs 2 from Matty Rulach and holding all of our catches the sharks managed to pull off a great win bowling Baxter out for 85. Go Sharks Sorrento CC 3rd XI : 3s were at Portsea for Red Hills home game this week after a change of venue Chad Harris and Myles Poholke playing there first game for the year Red Hill won the toss and elected to bat, we had a great start with the ball , Helliwell 2/16 off 5 and Yanner 2/11 off 8 , bowled superbly , Young Leg Spinner Jackson Norris ripped thru there Middle order with 3/6 off 6 , Red Hill all out for 55 Small target to chase , Red Hill bowled and fielded brilliantly , they took there chances in the field and the Sorrento boys just couldnt get going , losing wickets at vital stages , we went down by 9 runs been bowled out for 46. It was just one of those days were the wickets were flowing for both teams.
