23.01.2022 As the weather changes and we head into the cooler months, we have a lot to look forward to as we count down to our retreat in Sri Lanka. Sun, surf, sand, yoga, relaxation, wholesome food, great company and beautiful culture.
23.01.2022 Sri Lanka is known for its lush fresh fruit . It is abundant with the likes of pineapple, coconuts, papaya, mangoes and bananas. Available all year round. Papaya and pineapple have great digestive enzymes and are a great way to start your day for breakfast. Bananas are full of potassium and are great on their own or in smoothies as one energy boost. Coconuts are used fresh and the coconut water is very close to our own bodies natural electrolytes. Coconut milk is made fresh for curries and only small amounts are usually used. Mango is a great source of Vitamin C. Cant wait to feast on these beauties for breakfast.
22.01.2022 Let's do this thang!
22.01.2022 GOTU KOLA SAMBOLA "Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) is well known for its medicinal qualities over culinary usage. Gotu kola sambola is a traditional Sri Lankan dish which goes nicely with rice & curry dishes. This is a tasty, crunchy & also healthy salad which can be prepared just in fifteen minutes." Sri Lanka’s answer to Tabouleh. 1 Bunch Gotu kola (fresh)... 6 Small Shallot 1 Medium Green chilli 1/2 Teaspoon Salt 1/2 Cup Coconut (freshly scraped) 1 Medium Tomato (optional) 1/2 Teaspoon Black pepper (ground) 1/2 Tablespoon Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed) Directions: Thoroughly wash the Gotu Kola bunch using a cold running water. Then hold the gotu kola bunch firmly together & cut into halves. Now take the two parts of the bunch & hold the cut sides of the two parts together. By using a sharp knife cut the bunch into thin slices as possible & put them into a large bowl. Thinly slice the peeled & washed shallots then put them into the large bowl with sliced gotu kola. Again thinly slice the green chilli & chop the tomato and set them aside. Now add sliced green chillies to the gotu kola bowl followed by Maldive fish, pepper, salt, tomato then give a quick light mix to the ingredients. Add scraped coconut in to the gotu kola bowl followed by a gentle stir. Finally add lime juice and mix well together. If you like it bit hot or salty add more green chilli, pepper and salt as needed. Serve fresh this wonderful salad. Gotu Kola is a long standing medicinal herb which has been known for its affects on our brain cognition, fatigue, anxiety, depression, psychiatric disorders, Alzheimer's disease, and improving memory and intelligence. Other uses include wound healing, trauma, and circulation problems (venous insufficiency) including varicose veins, and blood clots in the legs.

21.01.2022 Want to feel like this next winter?
21.01.2022 Sri Lankan Fisherman are dotted all the way along the coastline on their stilts. Looks uncomfortable but they will stay there hauling their catch until they have what they need. Makes for a great photo when you are there however, they will often want a tip for a photo.
21.01.2022 Still feeling pretty chilled and kind of re-set after our fabulous retreat in Sri Lanka. Thanks Narelle Andren and Pandora Colledge for putting together such... an awesome experience. All my favourite things, done so very well. Meditation every morning, followed by blissful yoga with excellent music, in the jungle Shala, with the pooches, vegetarian feasts all day, divine evening yin yoga. And a few sublime 90 minute deep tissue massages in between the beach, surfing, & relaxing in the pool. What more does a woman want? I loved my nutritional consultation with Pandora, I’ve maintained lots of the little tweaks in my lifestyle and eating. And I could not have chosen a better bunch of women to go with, my tribe and we made a few nice new friends too. I would thoroughly recommend a Nourished Soul Retreat if you get the chance to go on one, just DO IT! See more
21.01.2022 This sale finishes 3 February. If you are interested I suggest look at flights for 14 August from Sydney to Cusco. I can advise you on Cusco accommodation later. That would be just for one night and there will be a pick up to the retreat in Sacred Valley Morning of 15 August. Latham code shares with Qantas so most likely same plane as if you book Qantas. Happy to help if you have any questions

18.01.2022 Ayurvedic practice is an ancient Indian medicine. In Sri Lanka, it also practiced and revered. You may like to indulge yourself in some treatments or work out what Dosha you are and think about what you may also be able to get out of your retreat. THE THREE DOSHAS IN AYURVEDA Central to Ayurveda are the three doshas, or constitutions. When you know what type fits you best, you can tailor Ayurvedic treatment to suit your needs. Most people are a combination of two of the dosh...as, so you may be vata-pitta or pitta-kapha for example. Vata: Your mind darts from one thing to the next. You tend to be slim and gangly with dry, wiry hair. Mentally, you’re very creative but you get bored easily. Pitta: You have a sharp intellect and a matching appetite. You’re of medium build and have silky hair. You’re passionate and enthusiastic. You usually enjoy studying. Kapha: You’re laid-back and easy going. You’re prone to weight gain with a slow metabolism. It takes you a while to commit facts to memory, but once there you’ll never forget them.
18.01.2022 July 2018 retreat in Nusa Lembongan and a lot of bonding and relaxing was had. Sri Lanka is such a beautiful place steeped in Culture and Ayurvedic history. It lends it self to the yoga backdrop. The Sri Lankan food is cooked fresh with an abundance of fresh produce. They make their own coconut milk which is fun to do as well. Their spices are rich and smell incredible adding to the atmosphere of a beautiful culture. Sri Lanka is South of India but also a close neighbour to the Maldives which makes Sri Lankan waters very beautiful. Cannot wait to swim in that ocean again.
17.01.2022 Actually participating in a Sri Lankan cooking class in Sri Lanka. Using Beautiful fresh produce, vibrant spices and making fresh coconut milk under the guidance of a very entertaining Sri Lankan cook. You will love the Sambal which is accompaniment to Sri Lankan dishes at all meals and it comes in all flavours. Try a few dishes yourself before you arrive. It is a good idea to get spice fit as they are quite a bit stronger than you may be used to.
17.01.2022 Only a surfer knows the feeling! So much fun at Hiriketiya, Sri Lanka! We wanna go back!!!
17.01.2022 Might be doing some of this first thing in the morning on retreat...jungle in the background & warm breeze yeah!
16.01.2022 Coconuts are a common form of hydration on the coastal areas of Sri Lanka. Perfect for a warm climate. I am a big fan of fresh coconut water and if you want to be particular, it is the young green coconuts that are the freshest, the best and have the most nutrients. The fresh green coconut straight from the fridge with a straw is incredible. Natures natural sports drink !!!! Oozing with potassium, traces of sodium, and energy producing carbohydrates. Its low in calories a...nd basically no fat at all. As opposed to coconut milk which is quite different to coconut water. Research has found that Coconut water is as effective as traditional sports drinks. Coconut water electrolytes come very close to the exact requirements of the human body. This makes it perfect for hydration before, during and after work outs. It is also very useful to have after a bout of sickness when the body is dehydrated. Coconut water also contains antioxidant properties that can neutralise free radicals that are produced in high intensity training. And the best part...... it doesn’t contain any preservatives, chemicals or artificial flavours. This is a perfect addition to a smoothie instead of milk. So Start trying fresh coconut water if you haven't already as it is everywhere in Sri Lanka. See more
16.01.2022 And the first week pre retreat doing research, planning and office work on site. Excited for this experience as we are tucked away in a little jewel called hiri...ketiya bay, south Sri Lanka. Staying at the most divine salthouse with the yoga shala overlooking the jungle. We had to research a day spa for the massages and found the best massages that we have ever experienced tick that box for our retreaters ! Surf, sun and excellent food. Let the retreats begin.......... See more
16.01.2022 Getting ready for the first day of Winter on Saturday. Its hard to believe after this long warm weather we have been experiencing here in Coffs Harbour. But as the cold snap started in the last couple of days, I pulled out my photo of the gorgeous sunset in Sri Lanka as a teaser. Heading into the two month countdown before we head over to the exotic Island for some warm weather, chill out time, yoga, health, relaxation and rejuvenation.
15.01.2022 1st Retreat starts in 2 days. This place will not disappoint. It’s a little jewel in the crown and temperature is great. Yoga Shala overlooks the jungle rain forest. We are so ready to share this retreaters. Salt House
15.01.2022 Ceylon Cinnamon - Sri Lanka was once known as Ceylon and was revered for its cinnamon which was almost like Gold. The Ceylon Cinnamon is the best cinnamon in the World and when in Sri Lanka you can notice the difference in the amazing strength of its aroma. But its not just a pretty face. This beautiful spice has medicinal qualities and it is used in Western culture as well as Sri Lankan Cooking. Cinnamon will feature in our morning tonic on the retreat. It is particularly good for blood sugar control. Cinnamon also contains antioxidants which help to protect the body from oxidative damage caused by free radicals.
15.01.2022 Cant wait to get some of these hydrating and nourishing smoothies into us on our retreat. Jackfruit and mango smoothie
14.01.2022 We are so lucky in Australia to have the choice of buying organic and local in most places.... not all of course. But important for our health and the farmers that provide produce that is pesticide free. If you want to detox..... this is certainly one way of starting by being a bit more vigilant with fresh fruit and veggies that are organic.
14.01.2022 Getting retreat fit - Think about swapping out coffee for refreshing herbal tea a month before you arrive on retreat. Herbal tea is caffeine free and has so many other healing and medicinal qualities. Just think you will arrive already for this wonderful experience and be able to embrace it without the headaches. Its quite common for people to experience headaches and cravings the week following abstinence from coffee but it soon goes away.
14.01.2022 We have just had a King Room made available on our first retreat. $100 discount available. Please DM me if you are interested.
13.01.2022 Ok Retreaters, we are on the countdown now for Sri lanka. Now is a good time to start reducing your coffee intake if you choose to be caffeine free on the retreat. Switch it up with some green or herbal teas. Two weeks out is a good time to abstain all together if you want to avoid withdrawal headaches on the retreat. It is totally optional of course but Im going to give it a go as well!!! Counting down the sleeps now.

11.01.2022 Sri Lanka or Ceylon (as it used to be known as) is famous for its tea. It is one of the biggest exporters of tea in the World. A tea plantation tour is almost a must when you visit Sri Lanka as they harvest by hand. There are different grades of tea depending on how young it is when picked. White tea is the most expensive and most revered. It is said that on some plantations that they pick the white tea leaves with gloves and place in a bowl made of gold. Some places you will pay a premium for a cup of white tea. Green and white tea are fermented and are fabulous antioxidants. Therefore if you are looking for a good cappuccino here, forget it as the tea here is "off the Chain" There will be some good tea on the retreat which will be medicinally better for you while retreating.
10.01.2022 Running a great summer workshop in January 2019. Details below. Please follow the link to the website to book in if you are needing some inspiration.
09.01.2022 For those wondering how to get from Colombo going South toward our destination, the train is an option. Please read this to determine if it is an option for you. Remember Colombo the Capital is a bustling City and 1st Class is not as you would expect in a Western Country, however a lot more scenic and I highly recommend it.
09.01.2022 Red papaya is in season at the moment and this fruit is devine. Found in many tropical countries around the World and also in abundance here in Australia. It has protein digesting enzymes and Papaya is low in fat and protein but high in complex carbs. It contains good amounts of Vitamin C and Folic acid. It also provides a nice source of B Vitamins, E & K. Also good to know that it contains calcium, magnesium and potassium. Try this quick and simple little snack suitabl...e for desert as well. 1/2 red papaya 1 lime 2 Tbsp Desiccated coconut Vanilla Coconut yogurt Or sweetened Greek yogurt honey Cut papaya in half and remove the seeds (save the seeds and dry out for grinding as a spice optional) Peel the skin from the outside. Slice evenly. Lightly toast the desiccate coconut Drizzle with fresh lime juice and dip into a bowl of desiccated coconut and dip into yogurt of your choice.
09.01.2022 Focus Fruit for July Lemons and limes Good thing that these guys are in season during the cold weather. Citrus is armed with Vitamin C to help the immune syste...m at a time of year when we are prone to colds and flu. Lemons help relieve congestion and mucus. Lemons are particularly good for detoxification and cleansing the digestive system and many people reach for some warm water and lemon in the morning. Good thinking ! We think of lemons and limes as acidic however when we consume them, they become alkalizing to the body. These guys are also useful in treating inflammatory conditions like gout, rheumatism and gall stones. Lemons and limes are rich in potassium which helps keep blood pressure down as you age. The most beneficial part of a lemon is the skin as it is full of a compound called limonene which has anti carcinogenic properties. A recent study in America concluded that citrus peel consumed with black tea can help reduce the risk of skin cancer by 30%. Limes were fed to the sailors to prevent scurvy which is a vitamin C deficiency. I love the taste of both lemons and limes and they can certainly lift a dish, sauce, dip and drink as well as being medicinal See more
08.01.2022 The lonely Planet do great travel books. They are always so useful with personal tips and insights. Last year when I travelled to Sri Lanka we used this little number and it was worth every cent. I highly advise if you plan on doing a little bit of extra travelling while over on the retreat.
08.01.2022 I am already counting down the sleeps.
07.01.2022 Nourished souls at this years yoga and surf retreat. We all deserve this kind of nurturing of the soul and body. Sri Lanka embraces the love of yoga and vibrant food. Lets hope we get to see some exotic wildlife on our journeys around in this beautiful country.
06.01.2022 Sway with me...
06.01.2022 Turmeric tonic tea.... This will be your alternative to a coffee and with so many health benefits. I have chosen this as a tonic/tea for morning and night time and hopefully this may keep our tummies and gut in check while in Sri Lanka. Turmeric is an awesome anti inflammatory and with a shot of peppercorn boosts its ability for us to absorb the cur curcumin which is the magic property of turmeric. Turmeric is in abundance in Sri Lanka so it is nice to use their local produce while in their country as well as a shot of lime juice which is also native to Sri Lanka which gives a good dose of Vitamin C and a little shot of Honey to add some anti bacterial and anti biotic properties. Feel Free to start trying this at home as Winter is the perfect time to hook yourself up with this superfood immune tonic. I like to add warm water.
05.01.2022 Some very helpful information regarding your gut health while in Sri Lanka. If our gut health is strong, we can hopefully avoid any tummy problems, parasites or bacterias while enjoying our retreat. Its great to start on this now as a lifestyle adaption and also as a preventative when going to other Countries that have different water supply and foods. Our bacteria adapts to our environment and with only a short time in Sri Lanka, we want to make the most of it and not have any tummy issues.
05.01.2022 Bring on the second retreat !!! In a place that keeps on giving with the right weather, beautiful forest surrounds, naughty monkeys swinging outside our shale, ...squirrels, even a scorpion, meditation every day, The eb and flow of our twice daily yoga practice, incredible whole food plant based food, tonics.....Ah yes those tonics. I didn't lose anyone on my watch and I am saying it was all to do with those tonics, surfing, laughing, elephants, temples and a beautiful amazing group of humans coming together. Thank you Narelle Andren who is responsible for finding this jewell in the crown and for being a legend yogi teacher and awesome partner and flat mate. Some nutrition coaching from me and some samples of bliss balls and raw treats just to make that tonic go down. Lets do this again. Miss you all and loved every minute of this experience as host along side Narelle Andren See more
04.01.2022 If you are planning on spending some time looking around in Sri Lanka, I can highly recommend Ella. It is a little cute village in the middle of Sri Lanka that beats to its own drum. Surrounded by incredible views and scenery and tea country. The train ride is unique, one you won't forget and one of the most scenic rail journeys in the World. Its an old world Train and travelling 1st class is the way to go. If you are up for an adventure, this is the way to see some of the beautiful countryside. There are some great hikes in the Ella region and its a nice reprieve from busy Colombo.
