25.01.2022 "What a unique travel experience! Jo has combined her passion for travel, life coaching and education by creating a one of a kind small group tour........Jo worked very closely with the local guide to provide experiences additional to the itinerary that allowed us to experience the daily lives and rituals of the locals. Through skillful guidance via the workshops, Jo facilitated a close knit community of women who bonded really well and made the most of every gem this trip ...had to offer. I would highly recommend a Soulful Escape." Gill It's hard to put into a flyer or website what a Soulful Escape will actually do for you so best you hear it direct from the source. But this is my passion and purpose, designing something that will change peoples lives through the medium of travel. Join us for Soulful Sri Lanka 29th August 2020, for what could be your life changing travel experience. https://www.soulfulescapes.com.au/hosted-escapes See more

24.01.2022 Even if I had a crystal ball, who would have ever predicted the year we have had so far. You may have predicted it but would you have believed it. I know I speak not only for myself but all my other travel industry colleagues when I say there has never been a time as challenging, confusing and soul destroying as the last 4 months. It's been heart breaking to see businesses that have thrived and been built on nothing but passion, grit and hard work just come to a grinding ha...Continue reading

20.01.2022 For those of you that follow my Soulful Escapes page, thank you for doing so. As I negotiate the next 6 months, watching the travel industry come to a halt, it's bringing up a lot of emotion, fear and grief. I've spent a lot of time building this and the fears of losing it are overwhelming at times. In another part of my life I have a totally different skillset, that of a lifecoach, and I've decided to use these skills to bring me back from all that is outside of my control.... I've started a coaching conversation, with myself, in a daily series of videos that is reminding me of what I need to do to get through this. I've decided to share it with those that are interested, to try and support each other and offer some simple tips to navigate these times. You can follow this page at Talking Raw or by clicking on the link below. It may not be for you, but if it is I hope you find some relief. Would love to see you there. Xx See more

19.01.2022 I want to send a very huge thank you to all of my wonderful clients. You have been so understanding, caring and patient with me during this time, even though your plans and situations are unknown as we navigate the new normal we are living with. I've had calls, texts and emails from many of you just reaching out to say hello and that you are thinking of me. I've even had lasagne, flowers and toilet paper!! Soulful Escapes came about as culmination of all the things I love i...n life. Travel, personal development, running my own show and even though I feel like I've gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, I know once that fatigue and shock wears off, that Soulful Escapes will get up, dust itself off and be ready for when this whole situation changes. It has tested me, I won't lie, but today I was asked by an industry colleague I work with, to write a piece for her new travel blog, on the origins of Soulful Escapes and what it offers travellers. I have to say I was surprised that the first answer out of my mouth was YES! I wasn't sure if I would have the passion for it right now, but as she pointed out to me, that first instinct tells me I am exactly where I need to be. In the meantime I am here to answer your questions and rearrange your plans and will spend this downtime working on all the parts of my business I never have time for. So thank you for your support, keep dreaming of travel and experiencing the world, and when the time comes, you know where I am. Stay safe and well. Jo xx

19.01.2022 Heading west for a few days....bring it on. Sitting in a full coffee shop in a pretty busy terminal this morning, in my happy place....the airport! Australians are such resilient travellers, just find an alternative. Not a mask in sight. People drinking wine at 8am....love it. Don't believe everything you read people. Check the facts, follow the legitimate advice and block the hysteria. Can't help thinking what the law of attraction peeps are thinking right now. When you spen...d all your energy trying not to attract something, living in fear of catching something, preparing for the end of the world, be careful what you are bringing into your consciousness. Exactly what you fear. And be mindful what you wish for. Happy travels, that's what I'm attracting.

16.01.2022 So today was one of those days that reminds you of the realities of travelling with kids. No matter how much you want them to love what you love and see the joy in what you see, some days they are just tired, whingey and just running on their own agenda. It’s probably unrealistic for them to marvel at Georgian architecture, angel Christmas lights and the vibrancy of Bond St, Oxford St and the atmosphere of Regent St. So, I spent most of the day trying desperately to find some... common ground or resisting the urge to scream at him. But when I caught a glimpse of him leaning up against a lamp post whilst I took my 50th photo for the day, moving from one exhausted foot to the other I realised that our crazy intention of taking him to the London Fireworks by the river was probably a little out of reach. We’ve never attempted the Melbourne fireworks, let alone battled with the crowds of London, in freezing conditions, with multiple tube rides home. So instead we opted for a bit of yummy Marks and Spencers food, heated up in the oven, a movie and a tub of Ben and Jerrys. He’s already snoring from the next room, the movie is over and we are all in separate rooms, taking some time out for ourselves and from each other, and if I’m honest, it’s a pretty perfect New Year’s Eve. I started the day by catching up with a friend I haven’t see for over 20 years. We were great friends back in the late 90’s, and lost touch along the way as partners and countries changed. Our lives have continued separately and yet today we found ourselves catching up, laughing, shedding a tear and when it came down to it, having more in common that we ever did before. What a gift to finish the year with an old friendship, made new again and perhaps with an even stronger connection. Was great to see you again T Pot, yes, I still call you that, and I hope to see you again very soon. Happy New Year everyone, from a slightly weary traveller, who thankfully despite the fatigue can still find the lesson. To get rid of the expectations and the I should do this, and stay connected to what works for me and my family. To keep it simple, to give my best and know that all will be well despite the outcome. This is my mantra for 2020. See more

09.01.2022 What an exceptional experience staying at the Hotel Neri in Barcelona. Located in the Gothic Quarter you just have to walk out your door turn right or left and you are immersed in the laneways, boutiques and cathedral of the old town. We are actually in the apartments across the laneway which are so well equipped for families. This hotel would have to be my favourite so far. That perfect blend of casual, warm and elegant, for me it's hard to beat. But above all the staff. They are exceptional and cannot do enough for us. We've all been unwell and their care makes you feel safe and secure. Outstanding property!

09.01.2022 Very fortunate to call this lovely hotel home, for our stay in Paris. Hotel Esprit Saint Germain is in a fabulous location on the Left Bank, surrounded by boutique shops and markets, authentic Parisian restaurants, churches and within an easy walk of the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter. What a treat to return to this little slice of heaven at the end of the day.

08.01.2022 Tonight I was meant to be in Jaipur, getting ready to attend the Great Indian Travel Bazaar, a travel industry trade fair. Looking forward to that day when I can board a plane again for my 2nd home, and continue my fascination with India.

07.01.2022 For the past 3 years I've celebrated Holi in India. Today I'm really missing those celebrations and could do with the lift it brings. A difficult time in the travel industry right now, so I'm focusing on looking after my clients, developing and fine tuning Soulful Escapes, and not buying into the panic. Holi is the celebration of good over evil, light over darkness, so I'm remembering that today and reminding myself how incredible it is to travel with courageous people, to n...ew destinations to participate in colourful celebrations such as Holi. I wore my Indian coin earrings today, made by a past client of Soulful India, and a bright pink shirt to get myself in the mindset. Happy Holi to all my Indian friends and to those brave adventurous souls who joined me to experience the wonder of India. This time next year we will be in India to celebrate with a new tour, Enticing India, where we will celebrate Holi in rural Rajasthan. https://www.soulfulescapes.com.au/hosted-escapes

05.01.2022 Sometimes you know you need something for yourself and you're not quite sure. Last year I felt I needed a break, so I took a few days off and went to Daylesford. I relaxed, had a massage, ate some great food and then returned home after 2 days about 10% relaxed. For me to truly feel a break I need to immerse myself into something and sometimes distance is the best solution. Soulful Sri Lanka is designed just like that. 2 weeks, away from your life, to take time for yours...elf. To travel with a group of like-minded women. To immerse yourself in a new place, learn about a different culture, eat their food, meet the local people in an interactive respectful way, visit their sites and learn about yourself along the way through some tailored workshops. 2 weeks to focus on you, something as women we rarely take time to do. 2 weeks to allow yourself some time out. Where the travel is organised, you don't have to be the guide or the organiser and all you have to do is enjoy the experiences that come your way. The only thing between you and the trip is the YES ! Join us on Soulful Sri Lanka 29th August - 13 nights. https://www.soulfulescapes.com.au/sri-lanka-tour

02.01.2022 First time getting a boat to an airport. Pretty cool and very well organized at Venice airport. Either 15 Euros pp on the public boat with a 1.5 hour journey, or approximately 120 Euros on a private transfer , 30minute journey. Good option from Australia with direct connections with Emirates and Qatar.
