07.01.2022 Psychosis or Spiritual Emergence? Have you ever experienced trauma and came out of it with a new perspective on life and as a better person? Essentially, that is what Spiritual Emergence is, where out of trauma and hardship, where what you thought was dear and true, was shattered. Out of these pieces, a new picture is formed and something in you has been transformed into something more compassionate, better, bigger and deeper. However, while the pieces have been shattered, ...the symptoms can look like a mental illness and could be diagnosed as such, interjecting and even blocking the natural process of transformation. The modern mental health field is still needing to catch up with this. Support is needed to assist people going through this process. Dr Maree Batchelor, a GP for many years, experienced this and her intuition helped her dodge the 'mental illness' label. Since then she has transformed into an expansive human being and can hardly relate to her former self. Dr Batchelor, now an international speaker, will address us at the Emerging Technology Assisting Wellbeing conference on the 10th August, at the Elwood Sailing Club.
