24.01.2022 Relationship relationship relationship....., build it with your baby by talking to them.

24.01.2022 We are our babies environment, there is so much in this article that rings so true for me. A baby will always know when they are loved and if there caregiver is available to look after them. And this dynamic extends beyond the physical.

24.01.2022 Here is a good description of how a mother releases milk form her breasts. And if the words are at first confusing, the last words about stress and adrenaline are important are soemthing many of us might recognise.

22.01.2022 Not sure if this is ironic, or, different aspects of the same things.

22.01.2022 I have to share this, a beautiful example of how babies rely on us to regulate themselves. We are our babies environment and for them, there is no separation.

21.01.2022 A longish, but still quick summary of the tongue at work.

19.01.2022 It is interesting how your baby's relationship with you starts well before it is born.

17.01.2022 Is your birthing hospital a baby friendly hospital? Does your ob nderstand breastfeeding? It is good to ask these questions.

15.01.2022 This reminds me of how hard breastmilk can be to clean up when splashed. Wiping it away but the spot just seems to linger. It is such good stuff doing a great job.

15.01.2022 Ina May Gaskin's book, Spiritual Midwifery, gave me much confidence when I birthed my babies 20 years ago. And not to forget my midwife Chris Shanahan. Some people you just don't forget. At the time, I didn't always understand everything I was reading, but something in this work spoke to me. Great to see this litte synposis of Ina May's story. Which brings me to another matter. Education. Education. and Education! And be prepared as best you can, with both knowledge, an...d people to support you in how you want to birth your baby, and feed, and nurture your baby. And it is interesting to look at level of support and relationship, and how relationship builds support, and support builds relationship, as demostrated by Ina May. I am an IBCLC, and will support mothers who want to breastfeed their babies. But in truth, the mummy wars, about who does what, and how, and why, it is all too late after the baby is born. Be prepared, s early as possible, to understand the choices you will be making .

08.01.2022 I often mention tummy time, and this is one way both mum and bub can enjoy tummy time together.

08.01.2022 Below is a clip from In Utero, where Gabor Maté and other experts discuss a remarkable study called The Still Face Experiment. In the experiment, a mother is... asked to make her face still and not respond to her child for one full minute. The result is heart-breaking, and when you realize an iPad or an iPhone are really just "still faces", you cant help but look at these devices differently.
