23.01.2022 A sense of purpose, increased independence and greater socialisation are just some of the benefits residents at Opal Alfred Cove in WA are enjoying thanks to their new volunteer job roles. Lifestyle staff at the facility have created a number of meaningful positions for residents, including assisting with reception, helping with floral workshops, and working in Opal's very own IGA-inspired supermarket, 'OGA'. With COVID-19 preventing residents from being able to leave the fac...ility for excursions, staff have built a thriving workplace community within the home for residents to feel useful, find purpose and joy. What a great initiative! http://ow.ly/pvnj50CsPh8 #HLACHeroes #agedcareheroes #thanksforcaring #caringthoughcovid

19.01.2022 Kudos to all of the catering staff at Hawkesbury Village. You've been recognised as 2020 HLAC Heroes for working diligently throughout many changes and challenges, and going above and beyond servicing the residents needs without expecting anything in return. Throughout the pandemic, you have raised the bar when it comes to care. Whether it be making clothing alterations for residents, covering shifts, special fund raisers and bake sales, or improvement workshops, your generosity and kindness was appreciated by many. Thanks for being HLAC Heroes! #HLAChero #HLACHeroes #agedcareheroes #thanksforcaring

17.01.2022 Today's special Soupedup shout out goes to Vanessa Monkcom from BlueCross The Boulevard. Vanessa is recognised as a HLAC Hero for delivering high standards of customer service for residents during their prolonged COVID-19 lockdown. Vanessa made sure residents were well cared for and also arranged unique experiences like card packs so residents could craft personalised cards to send to loved ones. But the caring didn't just extend to residents. Vanessa mentored and supported all kitchen staff and was a source of positivity for the entire Boulevard team. Thanks for being a HLAC Hero! #HLAChero #HLACHeroes #agedcareheroes #thanksforcaring

17.01.2022 Thanks to the Australian Ageing Agenda for spreading the word about our recognition program HLAC Heroes. If you know a colleague who has gone above and beyond, nominate them for recognition as a #HLACHero. https://www.australianageingagenda.com.au//program-recogn/ #HLACheroes #thanksforcaring #soupedup

14.01.2022 Thanks Karen Boden for being a CHHW ALLSTAR! Your colleagues from Hatton Court Care Home nominated you to receive recognition for being an inspiration during COVID-19. Although suffering from her own anxiety and fear of contracting the illness, Karen continuously made sure vulnerable residents had a clean environment, clean clothing and always did so with a reassuring smile on her face. Since sharing her own experiences, she's become the "equality champion and now educates the whole team on the importance of inclusion no matter what walk of life you are from". Thank you for being a CHHW ALLSTAR! #CHHWALLSTAR #carehomeallstars #thanksforcaring

11.01.2022 "Resident preference is always the priority for both clinical staff and foodservice, but communication is the key" says Speech Pathologist Sophie Crouch. A nice 2 minute read on the importance of communication between catering and clinical teams when it comes to meal choice for residents. #mealchoice #residentpreference #carecatering #agedcarecatering http://ow.ly/VvrL50CeX6t

10.01.2022 Thanks Maria Alvaro for being a HLAC Hero! Your colleagues from Assisi Aged Care nominated you to receive recognition for going above and beyond to ensure residents had their emotional and mental support during the challenging past few months. Maria "often goes out of her way to ensure everyone is ok and always puts everyone else in front before of herself." In every act of kindness Maria does, you can see it comes from the heart, and residents love her for it. From your col...leagues and residents at Assisi Aged Care, thank you for being a HLAC Hero! #HLAChero #HLACHeroes #agedcareheroes #thanksforcaring

03.01.2022 When residents couldn't attend the annual flower and art festival, Floriade, the staff at BaptistCare Carey Gardens brought the festival to them! This Canberra aged care home thought outside the box and developed their own festival with exhibitions displayed around the centre. Residents enjoyed the expo, with some even saying it's "Better than the real thing. #communityspirit #agedcarecommunity #spring #agedcareevents http://ow.ly/nQBr50CeXqe
