23.01.2022 HOW TO LET GO OF ALL-OR-NOTHING THINKING ***Consistency over Perfection*** 1. MAKE YOUR GOALS SMART (SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC AND TIME BOUND) ... I suggest focusing on one or two goals at a time. For example, set one fitness-oriented habit and one food-focused habit to make small but impactful changes that you can continue to build upon. It is important to make each aspect of a SMART goal realistic and something you truly are interested in achieving, thus increasing your motivation. 2. DONT MAKE FOODS OFF-LIMITS Putting yourself on a restrictive or fad diet (aka one that requires being perfect) actually makes you crave off-limits foods more and youre not being good or bad for eating a certain way; as such, youre not a good or bad person for eating something. Its just food. 3. GET BACK ON TRACK Giving yourself permission to eat off-limits foods again puts you back in control. You get to decide in the moment of its the right time to eat it or if theres a healthier choice you could have that would satisfy your craving, if you eat something not so healthy, enjoy it and move on. Dont beat yourself up. Get back to your healthy routine at the next meal or snack. If youre struggling with this, making it a point to think of three positive things about the unhealthy meal and about yourself, then move on. 4. SWITCH THINGS UP TO AVOID BOREDOM Every now and then, we can fall into a food rut, To combat this, try shopping at a different grocery store, farmers market or find new foods to incorporate into your favorite meals. Explore the produce section to find a seasonal fruit, vegetable or even a different whole grain to rotate into your cooking routine every week. 5. TRACK PROGRESS OVER TIME Dont forget to celebrate your progress and accomplishments along the way. Strategize new solutions for any areas that need work to continue pushing toward broader lifestyle changes and goals. If youre consistent and dont give up when there are bumps along the way, anything is attainable.

06.01.2022 Many people struggle with a bad relationship with food. They often go through the process of a fighting back & forth. It goes something like this "Oh I want_(insert food here)_" and then begins the process of the "restriction" ... "no no, your not allowed, you cant break your diet" at first you might win the battle but as time goes on & the craving continues you begin to rationalise, "oh its only once" "Iv been so good" "my diets not working anyway" or "Iv lost *insert weight... here* so I can treat myself" "Once wont hurt" Many people who struggle with eating concerns have a very common strategy. Its called attack. We attack our weight We fight our appetite We punish the body with forced exercise We bombard ourselves with hurtful thoughts We deny ourselves pleasure We punish ourselves with dieting We hate our body fat And we postpone happiness until we have the perfect body, which is an imaginary day that never comes True change never happens when we attack and punish our self, or aim hate at our own body or soul. Its only the positive, uplifting, life affirming strategies that deliver real transformation and lasting satisfaction. Most people want to have their ideal weight and body and the best relationship with food so they can be happy Thats the goal: happiness. So how can a road filled with self attack and self hate possibly lead to a destination of happiness. Its impossible. We need an eating psychology that doesnt shame us, make us feel like we need to keep fighting our body, and that indeed helps us find a way of nourishing ourselves that truly ignites our soul and is in alignment with not only our metabolic potential, but our personal potential as well. The only way to stop a cycle of eating = restriction = reward/ binge/emotional eating = self hate, is to follow the steps outlined: 1 = Daily intentions set goals of who your future self is and how you are working towards your future self 2 = Positive Self talk & building your self worth (being happy within yourself, builds happiness from the inside out) 3 = sitting with the uncomfortable feeling of a craving & not acting on it but instead recognizing the feeling you are actually feeling rather than covering it up with the short term pleasure of food. Start implementing & working on yourself from the inside out will in turn help you to be in the best shape of your life from the outside as well
