27.03.2022 I have been asked a lot recently how I can help support people to live well with dementia during this difficult time. Generally I go to people's houses to see how to make the environment more enabling, but this is impossible at present of course... HOWEVER! With the wonders of tools such as Facetime, Zoom and WhatsApp I am able to be taken through a persons home to see what can be improved upon or changed and can still provide counselling and information sessions using these media tools. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or would like any advice to support you or a person you care for or love who is living with dementia. Together we can make a difference :)

07.01.2022 I often get asked by older adults "Is losing my car keys or forgetting something a sign of dementia?" As we age, normal changes within our brains can affect our memory and thinking. Things like forgetting where your car keys are, losing something or forgetting an appointment are all normal age related changes. But there are other things that can also influence our thinking and memory. These include, but are not limited to: Dehydration Nutritional deficiencies Some medications... Hormonal changes Infections or acute illnesses Fatigue Stress, grief, anxiety Pain Depression Signs that you or a person you know may be showing signs of dementia include: Loss of interest in normal daily activities Social withdrawal Problems managing finances Difficulty following a conversation Problems remembering orientation to time, place etc Problems remembering recent events
