24.01.2022 This months "Yarras Where are they now" is Andy Harlock, a past A Grade premiership captain and loyal sponsor of the Yarras in his role as Director and CEO of Abercrombie's Real Estate. 1. How did you come across the Yarras? After having one season at Melbourne CC I did not enjoy how clicky it was as a club, I just wanted to enjoy my cricket. Having played footy for OGFC down at Como a few guys got me down to the Yarras. ... 2. Which grade did you play and what was your role? Only two teams back then and we were in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association Central one then North A. I played in the 1st XI and was captain for a number of years would bat at number 3 and open the bowling or first change, it’s good when you are captain, bat and bowl where you want. 3. Highlight of your time at the Yarras? This is actually answering two questions. In 87/88 Highett had been relegated for disciplinary reasons, when we played them during the season they absolutely thrashed us and were really good at the sledge. We then met them again in the Grand Final, this time however we were determined to beat these guys and we did, it was the most unbelievable feeling and a credit to everyone involved in the game 4. Best sledge you have heard from opposition/team mate? Same game, Highetts captain, Scotty was fielding at silly mid on and he farted he then said to the batsman, Jeff Stagg, you don’t mind if I fart do you Jeff? Jeff wandered up to him and said, Scotty, I don’t care if you shit yourself. Even Scottys team mates laughed at that one. 5. Best win you were involved in? As above. 6. Best Yarra to have a drink with on the Como balcony after a game? Don’t think I can pick just one out but Roddy Mullinar was always entertaining. 7. Least favourite ground to play on? You guessed it, Highett. Stinking hot day one year, wicket was flat as a tack and we fielded all day. 8. Best/funniest Yarras memory? Having a luncheon, get together, both teams, at Rod Mullinar’s in Panton Hills that went long into the night with a number of crazy games, there were quite a few casualties and we had to play cricket the next day, surprisingly I think we still won. 9. Where are you now and what are you doing? Currently Director and CEO at Abercromby’s real Estate where I have been for the last eleven years. Bought a little getaway up near Euroa a few years ago where we escape to when we can.

24.01.2022 Exciting times at the Yarras with 5 teams in the top 4 as we head into finals. Lest see if we can bring a couple of flags back to Como Park!

23.01.2022 The Yarras have made it through to the semi final of the Southern Bayside T20 tomorrow night and will face Murrumbeena Cricket Club at Murrumbeena Park. If you cant make it to the game it will be live streamed on Facebook, check the GameFace - CSB page tomorrow for the link.

23.01.2022 If you've finished watching everything on Netflix, enjoy some highlights of Will Fraser-Smith's brilliant spell of 8/26 in the A Grade grand final win over Parkville. Special thanks to our fantastic sponors at Interact Sports/FrogBox for providing the fantastic coverage.

21.01.2022 Always a pleasure to play at Como Park, especially with such an amazing scoreboard! Special thanks to our wonderful sponsors Windsor Community Bank and Abercrombys Real Estate.

20.01.2022 Great to see David Warner having a hit on the hallowed Como Park turf. Always a struggle for numbers this time of year so let’s hope he makes himself available after Christmas.

20.01.2022 It was slow going on day 1 of the A Grade Grand Final, but there were still a few big hits that cleared the ropes.

19.01.2022 Not the result we were hoping for, but the lads showed great fight to go down in a thriller off the last ball of the day.

19.01.2022 The Yarras got off to a great start in round 1 of the Southern Bayside 20/20 Competition with a comprehensive win over South Caulfield. Chasing 106 to win, we got the runs 5 down in the 18th over. Special thanks to dRonOgraphy for the great pics.

18.01.2022 Special thanks to our great sponsor the Flying Duck Hotel in Prahran who hosted our presentation night, with the great Gideon Haigh the MC as usual. Over 70 Yarras turned up which featured a special presentation of life member caps to our life members.

17.01.2022 Despite starting the summer a little short on numbers South Yarra Cricket Club has rallied to qualify five of its six senior teams for Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) finals

17.01.2022 What a great way to finish the season, 5 teams qualified for the finals followed by an evening with the Grade Cricketer and Rob Quiney.

17.01.2022 Plenty of action down at Como Park after the Christmas break with 5 teams currently sitting inside the top 4. Great to see over 50 Yarras at training with many keen to impress as we head into the finals.

15.01.2022 Just in case you needed another excuse to head down to the Duck, they officially have Melbournes best Parma! (is there even anything else on the menu??)

15.01.2022 This week's results brought to you by our fantastic sponsors The Ticket Merchant.

15.01.2022 Great win by C grade to get through to the grand final next week.

14.01.2022 POST GAME CHATIt was a tremendous effort for Mercantile Cricket Association side South Yarra Cricket Club to reach the CSB T20 Semi Final, and although beaten by Murrumbeena on Tuesday night, they lost few admirers. Dan Lonergan caught up with their skipper Archie Macpherson after the game.

14.01.2022 A spectacular burst from South Yarra Cricket Club fast bowler William Fraser-Smith destroyed Parkville in the Mercantile Cricket Association A-grade grand final. Now, the right-arm quick tells us he has his sights set on bigger things.

12.01.2022 If youre looking for a great meal or a nice cold beer make sure you head down to see our fantastic sponsors the Flying Duck Hotel in Prahran.

09.01.2022 Congratulations to all players involved over the weekend, what an amazing effort as all 6 teams had a win for the second time this season. Great signs as we head into the finals!

09.01.2022 Best of luck to our A Grade boys who take on arch rivals Parkville in the grand final tomorrow at Como Park. Looks like it will be the only event in town this weekend, so what better place to spend a lovely Autumn day than the beautiful grounds of Como Park, with plenty of open space to keep a 1.5m distance from everyone else. For those who cant make it to Como our great sponsors at InteractSport will be live streaming both days, here are the links:... https://youtu.be/J_x69KEZK8g https://youtu.be/TBui_R2Ei4k See more

08.01.2022 And then there were 4.... The Yarras have made it through to the Southern Bayside 20/20 semi-final with a win over Bentleigh Cricket Club

08.01.2022 Great news, our fantastic sponsor and the number 1 pub in South Yarra is reopening next week. The Flying Duck has been a wonderful supporter of the club for many years now so let's all make an effort to support them after a tough few months. And they are still serving Melbourne's best Parma's!

07.01.2022 Not the result we were hoping for but a fantastic effort to make it all the way to the semi final against some high quality opponents. Special thanks to our fantastic sponsor the Ticket Merchant who made sure we were definitely the best dressed team!

07.01.2022 It wouldnt be a Yarras season without a launch of Gids new book. This time we were privileged to have former Test player Ed Cowan as a guest speaker to launch Gids new book "Crossing the Line", an in depth look at the sandpaper crisis.

07.01.2022 Special thanks to our great sponsor the Bendigo Community Bank in Windsor. They have donated over $20,000 to us over the last few years which has been a massive help to our club. If you need a home loan go in and see the guys and they will donate $50 to the club just for making an appointment!

05.01.2022 There was some classic old school kit on display in our annual veterans game against Youlden Parkville.

03.01.2022 If youve finished watching everything on Netflix, enjoy some highlights of Will Fraser-Smiths brilliant spell of 8/26 in the A Grade grand final win over Parkville. Special thanks to our fantastic sponors at Interact Sports/FrogBox for providing the fantastic coverage.
