24.01.2022 COACH WANTED Colonel Light Gardens Football Club Colonel Light Gardens Football Club Junior Coach U16 Boys... We are seeking a person to coach our Under 16 boys team for the 2021 season. The team has been very competitive competing in three Grand Finals over the past four years winning a SANFL Division 2 Premiership in 2019. The group is highly motivated with a strong leadership group and a desire to improve performance. The role may suit either an experienced or developing coach wishing to further their coaching capability and knowledge. Responsibilities : - Be available to undertake training on 2 nights a week commencing early February until the seasons conclusion and available for Sunday afternoon games. - Develop the respect of this established team by demonstrating commitment to well planned training sessions and execution. - Provide game day coaching expertise. - Continue to develop the team into the Under 17.5 in 2022 and seniors competition thereafter. - Understand and operate with the Clubs policies covered in our Coaching Manual and the Junior Team Selection Policy - which also detail the level of behaviour of coaches at training and matches. The Tanunda Football Club is proud to announce the appointment of Sam Colquhoun as our A Grade coach for season 2021. Having recently retired from the SANFL, Sam, 25-year-old Sturt premiership midfielder played AFL football with the Port Adelaide Power and was a SANFL league footballer with Central District, Port Adelaide and Sturt. He has many awards & achievements including the 2019 Sturt Best & Fairest P.T. Morton Medal, has played state football for South Australia, was in the 2012 All Australian Under 18’s Team, 2012 SA MVP Under 18 AFL National Championships and a member of the 2012 State Under 18’s Team. Living in Tanunda and playing cricket for the TCC, it's wonderful to have Sam as Playing Coach at his local football club. The MinMan Sporting Club is proud to announce the appointment of Chris Gers Gerhardy as our A Grade coach for season 2021 We would like to welcome Chris, Keryn, Aasha and Reo back for the 2021 season. Chris was runner and assistant coach to Shawn Gibson in the 2012 and 2013 season at MinMan helping the club win the flag in 2012. Since then he has been involved at the Central District Football Club at U16, U17 and Reserve level as an assistant coach, coach and runner. As well as being assistant coach for the state, U16 and U17 teams. Before MinMan he played at the Nuriootpa Rover Football Club Inc and the Imperial Football Club notching up over 250 games and 5 Premierships. He also played in association, zone and state country teams. We are excited to see what 2021 has install for our senior sides and would like to thank Jake Nicholls for all his efforts with the last two seasons.

Neil has played over 200 senior games of football and brings a lot of experience and toughness to the side. He is a solid defender/midfielder who uses the ball extremely well and is also known to get the job done up forward when required. We are excited to see Neil continue to lead from the front in the red, white and blue on the field, while also playing an important role for the club off the field in 2021.

17.01.2022 PLAYERS SIGNING CENTRAL UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB RORY McMILLAN ASHLEY GRAVE... Central United Football Club would like to announce that Rory McMillan and Ashley Grave have signed on for season 2021. Rory has been at the club since he was 7 years old and has almost played 100 senior games including 2 senior back to back B&F awards in 2017 and 2018 together with the prestigious AB Jolley medal in 2017. Rory is a tall utility who can play anywhere on the ground but his biggest strength is his competitive drive to not want to lose a contest whether it be a contested mark or giving those 2nd and 3rd efforts when the ball is in dispute. Ash has played over 50 senior games for the club due to 2 ACL injuries at the beginning of his senior career. This hasn’t stopped him from developing as a player having his best senior season to date finishing runner up in the club B&F in 2020. Ash has a big engine and a lot of pace to burn at stoppages which compliments his great decision making and foot skills to find a target anywhere on the ground. We are thrilled to have these young lads back on board for what is hoping to shape up as a competitive season in the red, white and blue.

Matthew Easther Matthew is a born and bred Ardrossan boy who is returning to the area from Queensland to work alongside his parents in the family business. Matthew is a solid backline player who will be an asset to our team! Matt Spirritt Matt is a utility player who comes to us from the Willaston Football Club in the Barossa Light & Gawler Football Association. He also played reserves for the Central District Football Club. Matt spends a lot of time on the Peninsula as he loves his fishing. Welcome to the club Matt! Sam Pfeiffer Sam is a premiership captain from the Rambler Roosters Football & Netball Club in the River Murray Football League. He has also played state country football. Sam and his wife Kate will be moving to the area in early 2021. Sam is a timely acquisition to our club! Jamie McIntyre Jamie is the brother of Travis McIntyre. He is a strong ruckman who played reserves footy for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the SANFL. CHRIS STACEY Jamestown Peterborough Football & Netball Club is excited to announce the appointment of Chris Stacey as A Grade Football Coach for 2021. Chris is no stranger at Vic Park, having played 200 games for Jamestown Appila and Jamestown Peterborough in junior and senior football. He was a pivotal player in the club’s 2003 & 2004 A Grade premierships. Chris played two seasons for the Freeling Football Club playing in the Barossa Light & Gawler Football Association before gaining a taste of league football in 2006 for Eagles WWTFC in the SANFL. Chris’s football achievements include A Grade Captain, numerous club Best & Fairest awards along with representation at association and zone levels (for both Northern and Barossa zones). Having coached Jamestown Peterborough to the 2011 A Grade Grand Final, Chris will bring a wealth of knowledge, passion and leadership qualities to our club over the coming years. We are thrilled to have Chris, Ellie and the kids continuing their strong support of our football and netball club and look forward to a fantastic 2021 season with Chris as coach.
16.01.2022 The SA Footballer team see a LOT of football around the state. Many people have asked us to compare standards of the particular leagues. So we thought we'd give it a go at naming the top 6 standard wise and being completely unbiased. Whilst the overall standard of amateur division 1 in terms of depth throughout the 10 competing clubs is the best in the state without question. We believe the "top end" talent in many of the country leagues would be the equal of amateur divisio...n 1. By that, we mean that if the "best side" from the GSFL or the Barossa played the best amateur division 1 side it would be impossible to pick a winner. The only problem with that is, rarely do the best players make themselves available for these matches. Also you just can't compare city football with country football for atmosphere or crowd numbers. A division 1 game has 300-400 people on a good day when the "bigger' country leagues have 2,000 people and even the smaller ones have between 500 and 1000 people. Just very different, with atmosphere and also the netball component to country sport. OUR TOP SIX IS 1) Amateur division 1 2-3) Great Southern and Barossa (equal as nothing separates either in terms of standard or crowd numbers) 4) Hills Football League (different style to the Great Southern or Barossa, due to the heavier grounds. Bigger bodies, but conditions dictate the game is slower) 5-6) Amateur division 2 and KNT Football League of equal standard Have your say

09.01.2022 SANFL SALARY CAP WILL BE $210,000 The SANFL will cap player payments for each club at $210,000 for season 2021. The South Australian Football Commission decision to reduce the pre-COVID-19 cap from $400,000 follows consultation with SANFL clubs and is aimed at helping with their future viability.... SANFL general manager football Matt Duldig, pictured, said the reduced payment cap, which would exclude reserves players, was necessary to reduce club costs in line with reduced revenues. Peter was unable to attend the recent Senior Presentation Night so the award was held over until last night’s Annual General Meeting. 05.01.2022 GAELIC FOOTBALL Our Women's competition resumes this week with a carnival come and try day from 3.30pm at St Mary's Park on Sunday 17th January (at St Mary's) before a 6 week competition concluding with a final on Sunday March 7th. We feel our game can complement girls that are coming into AFL football by gaining confidence in the transferrable skills (kicking, marking and handballing) without the tackling element. Gaelic is social, but competitive, easy to adapt from all sp...orts and very good pre-season fitness. Anyone over 14 years of age is welcome to participate.
