25.01.2022 Thanks to all of our athletes, officials and volunteers today who helped to make things run pretty smoothly. As always, your efforts are greatly appreciated. I am aware that there were some mixed views on today's program but the majority of feedback I have been made aware of was positive in nature. That said, if you have any constructive feedback, comments or criticism please let me know via Facebook Messenger or email [email protected]

24.01.2022 Here's the Duty Roster for this week (Sat 28th November).

24.01.2022 Hi all, Still got a number of SBLAC trophies for people to collect or have dropped off. All relevant families have been emailed - please check your emails (possibly in junk folder) and get back to me.... NOTE: GLAC trophies are not yet available - I'll let you know as soon as they are. Wayne

23.01.2022 Good afternoon all, Just wanted to provide a quick update on the status of the 2020/2021 GLAC Track & Field season. As some of you may be aware, COGG - under guidance from DHHS - have imposed strict limits on the number of people permitted at the venue. LAVic are still waiting on State Government direction on how community sport can be conducted going forward (which includes sanctioned training/coaching activities).... At this stage, even though the 2020/2021 season is scheduled to commence in the first week of October, until further guidance is received as to what measures are required for the centre to be COVID compliant it does not look likely that the season will commence as expected. Hopefully we can get the season running in some form but if the centre is required to run under reduced numbers of participants and a delayed start date this may prove challenging. If you have any queries please contact me. Wayne

23.01.2022 Hi all, This week athletes will participate in Program 2. Split program with U8-11 at 8.00-10.00 and U12-16 at 10.15-1.00... NOTE: Walks are not compulsory - only do the walk if you intend to give it a red-hot go! On-Track will be done as one combined group (U6 & U7) running from 8.30 - 10.00. Everybody needs to be at Landy Field ready to go at 7.45 as first events will start at 8.00

23.01.2022 Over 50 athletes have registered with our club for the 2020-2021 Track & Field season!

22.01.2022 Here's a summary of our 2019/2020 Age Group Champions.

22.01.2022 Quick question for the group - do we have anyone who is a qualified walks judge who will be returning this season? If not, is there anyone who wants to undergo training for the role? As a club we are required to provide one walks judge for each Program 2 (first walks will be held on Sat 5th December).

22.01.2022 PS: don't forget to send through some photos of athletes with their awards!!

22.01.2022 Just one more sleep until Little Aths kicks off. Here's the program and first events for tomorrow. NOTE: no Walks for any age group and no 700m for U8's - they will do a 100m instead.

20.01.2022 Just in case you haven't seen this weeks GLAC newsletter, here are the centre's COVID protocols that MUST be adhered to. Refer to the GLAC website for further details.

19.01.2022 Good evening all, Here's the Duty Roster for this Saturday 12th December. NOTE: We are the pack-up club this week so need some people to clear the On-Track area when their session ends and also to clear hurdles, starting blocks, crossing cones, etc at the end of the morning.

19.01.2022 And here's the blooper reel from the presentation video for your amusement!!

17.01.2022 Just a quick reminder for all athletes, the South Barwon Athletics Club uniform must be worn each Saturday for competition - ie: the South Barwon singlet or crop top with royal blue shorts. 17.01.2022 Hi all, Here's the Duty Roster for this week. As per previous post, this week we are running a split program with On-Track & U6-U11 in the first block and then U12-U16 in the second block.... If your name is in RED can you please contact John Sprunt ([email protected]) to confirm your availability. All COVID restrictions/protocols from previous weeks still apply.

16.01.2022 We have had many changes to our programs this season, some quite challenging. These changes have all been inline with the Victorian Government COVID guidelines. Victorian Premier Dan Andrews made another announcement on Sunday which has allowed GLAC to continue with our programs as NORMAL. Revised guidelines for members (effective Sat 12th December) are as follows:... - 1 parent per family (unless doing duty) - NO Spectators - all attendees aged 12 or older must carry a mask and wear one if you cannot distance 1.5m - all attendees must register attendance upon entry to the venue All age groups (including On-Trackers) will be running as normal. First events for U8-U16 age groups will start at 8.15am. On-Trackers will start at 8.30am. NOTE: The attendance cap for the centre has been raised from 500 to 1000. We welcome this new cap, but I just want you to be aware that on our second meet (28 November) 900 people were registered in attendance at Landy Field. With the centre having just under 500 registered athletes it is still necessary to maintain the requirement for 1 parent per family and no spectators. Also, the registration portal is closed and, unfortunately, we are not taking any more members for this season.

16.01.2022 This Saturday (23rd January 2021) athletes will be participating in the GLAC Multi Event day which consists of 3 track and 2 field events for each age group. Events are as follows: 60m Hurdles U8-U12M/F... 80m Hurdles U13M/F, U14F 90m Hurdles U14M, U15/16F 100m Hurdles U15/16M 100m ALL U8-16 800m ALL U8-16 Long Jump ALL U8-16 Shot Put U8-16F Discus U8-16M

15.01.2022 Hi all, Just a reminder that we will be running our AGM via Zoom this evening. If you are interested in putting your name forward for a role (we are still looking for a Registrar) let me know ASAP. If you would like to participate in the meeting (should be pretty quick) then let me know in the comments or send a message and I will forward you the meeting link. Wayne.

15.01.2022 Good evening all, By now you should have (hopefully) seen the email from GLAC outlining the entry requirements for this Saturday's competition. It is proposed that this Saturday 28th November 2020 will proceed as normal but under the below requirements:... 1. ONE PARENT PER FAMILY (exceptions subject to approval by GLAC prior to Saturday morning) 2. NO SIBLINGS OR NON-ATHLETES 3. NO TRYOUTS 4. MASKS MUST BE WORN FOR ALL EXCEPT ATHLETES (BUT MUST BE CARRIED FOR THOSE OVER 12 YEARS) (exceptions subject to approval by GLAC prior to Saturday morning) 5. GATE 1 - will be the ONLY gate for entry and exit. (Swanston Street). Gates will open at 7:30am. 6. All clubs will submit their duty roster to GLAC. This list will be at the gate, all duty rostered on parents will be recorded on entry. 7. Registration details are still required when entering Landy (e.g scanning QR Code, etc.) For us to run a normal program and not remove events we have to adhere to these requirements. NOTE: On-Track will be run as one group this week - ie: U6 & U7 combined - athletes will move to and from the On-Track area under the control of club appointed On-Track Coordinators. No other parents/spectators/children will be permitted on the infield area. If you do not believe that you can adhere to these guidelines as set by GLAC, please do not attend. If you do attend and try to enter against the GLAC guidelines, you will be refused entry to the venue. GLAC's priority is to support athletes and allow them to continue with this sport.

12.01.2022 Here's a summary of our 2019/2020 Discipline Champions.

11.01.2022 Just a few last notes before tomorrow morning: As part of the centre's COVID protocols, Chiefs will need to collect their event trolley from the equipment shed - the trolleys will not be moved out for you. At the end of the day, Chiefs are to return their trolley to the equipment shed.... Gates will be open from around 7.00am to allow pedestrian access and all but the main gate in Swanston St will be closed by 8.40am. No general carparking in Landy Field - all vehicles are to be parked outside the venue in Swanston St or surrounding streets. Allow yourselves plenty of time to get in to the venue - remember ALL attendees are required to check in to the venue using the QR codes that will be at the entrances. Masks are compulsory for anyone 12yo or older (unless you have a valid exemption - this will be recorded when you enter the venue). Geelong Advertiser photographer will be onsite - if you don't want photos taken make sure to notify GLAC. Anyone registered as a "TRY'OUT" needs to report to the South Barwon marquee. Make sure you have printed out the bib you received via email from LAVic. Competition bibs for all fully registered athletes can be collected from the South Barwon marquee.

10.01.2022 Good afternoon all, Just a quick update with regards to the 2020/2021 Little Athletics season. At this stage we are still waiting on direction from LAVic as to whether the season will commence as scheduled or have a delayed start date and, if we are allowed to proceed, what restrictions/protocols will need to be in place.... There is a GLAC committee meeting next week and we are hoping to have more information in the not too distant future. We will let you know as soon as we receive confirmation of whether there is going to be a start date or a condensed season. Stay safe, stay healthy. Wayne

10.01.2022 Hi all, Program 1 this week. First events by age group as attached.

09.01.2022 Earlier today, the Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, released a statement announcing that regional communities would proceed to the ‘Third Step’ of the re-open...ing roadmap, effective from 11.59pm on 16th September. In a positive development for the commencement of the 20/21 season for our sport, the statement, in part, reads: Outdoor contact and non-contact sport will begin for regional Victorians aged 18 and under, as well as outdoor non-contact sport for adults, with gathering and density limits. In its announcements on Sunday 6th September, the State Government foreshadowed this development as part of the roadmap for Step 3. Unlike the hard dates set out for metropolitan Melbourne, the steps to re-opening for regional Victoria will continue to be determined by infection rates. At this stage, there is no further information available regarding the conditions and restrictions under which our sport can commence. Statement: https://lav.lc/b5e36 Roadmap: https://lav.lc/ce58f More information will be communicated once we know more. Stay tuned to your member email address for details. See more

07.01.2022 Good evening all, A little bit of housekeeping - it is a requirement for families of all registered athletes to participate in weekly duties. We ask that all families, including those with On-Trackers, make themselves available as requested throughout the course of the season.... There are a number of families who do more than their fair share every week and all we are asking is that everyone pitches in and spreads the load. Our duties on a weekly basis include chiefing/officiating two long jumps, back straight timing, 400m manual timing (as applicable), providing starters & walks judges and supervising On-Trackers. For On-Trackers this may include being the On-Track Coordinator for a week (marshalling the kids at the club area, escorting them to the infield, assisting Craig and Elly as required and returning the kids to the club area). John Sprunt coordinates the weekly duty roster and your ongoing support and assistance is essential as the centre is entirely volunteer run and without everybody contributing the centre will face the very real possibility of not operating and our kids will miss out on the opportunity to participate. If you have any issues/concerns please contact the club at [Email address hidden]

07.01.2022 Welcome back to all post the holiday break. The Duty Roster for Block 3 (weeks 7-10) is attached - if your name is in RED please contact John Sprunt to confirm your availability.
