24.01.2022 Locals and visitors to Albany can now explore more of the town’s unique whaling history with the launch of our new tour experience this September. Fully restore...d and on display at our museum, the Cheynes IV whale chaser ship has long been a favourite exhibit of visitors. In collaboration with past whalers, we have developed the new tour experience around a collection of previously unshared stories from the working years of the three whale chasers and their crews. Joining one of our passionate and knowledgeable guides, The Night Watch Experience will allow you to explore cabins in the deepest parts of the ship, as well as the galley and eating mess, and to hear what really happened onboard and what the various crew experienced. Being aboard after dark and hearing the stories really brings the history to life. Included after the 50-minute guided tour, and as part of the experience, is a delicious meal at Whalers Galley Cafe, coinciding with the café's monthly Friday night dinners. The Night Watch Experience commences next Friday 6th September, from 6-8pm, and will then run on the first Friday of each month.
