24.01.2022 October 25-31, 2020 is Pastoral Care Week, and we'd like to show our appreciation for our pastoral carers and the ministry which the caregivers provide. Thank you so much for everything you do in loving and serving our residents and clients. #pastoralcareweek

23.01.2022 CELEBRATING ALL THINGS INDIA: At Duhig Village Residential Aged Care, the smiles were huge as residents were treated to an Indian themed day. Residents and staff enjoyed a delicious menu of samosas, butter chicken and mango ice cream, before enjoying a performance and indulging in lots of dancing.

23.01.2022 Queensland's Chief Health Officer recently released Aged Care Direction No 11. The good news is that existing guidelines will continue and there won't be much disruption to how visitation is currently managed. A summary of what this means for residents and visitors can be found at the following link: https://sccqld.com.au//southern-cross-care-qlds-statement/

21.01.2022 As Christmas approaches, it’s often a time of festivity and fun in our residential aged care homes. We are looking forward to the love, connection and community that these festivities provide for our residents and their loved ones; however, the health and wellbeing of residents, families, staff and volunteers remains our highest priority. Due to COVID-19, the Queensland Government has provided us with guidelines for ensuring that any Christmas celebrations are safe for our residents, staff and visitors. 18.01.2022 What better way to celebrate International Day of Older Persons than by offering relaxing rides on a trishaw in lush, landscaped surrounds, while being piloted by the Federal Member for Fisher? We can't think of any! Big thanks to Cycling Without Age - Sunshine Coast and Andrew Wallace - LNP Federal Member for Fisher for putting such big smiles on the faces of our residents.

17.01.2022 Our lovely Caloundra Rise residents enjoyed recent fame as they were piloted around the grounds by Andrew Wallace - LNP Federal Member for Fisher on trishaws operated by Cycling Without Age - Sunshine Coast.

16.01.2022 SOCIAL OUTINGS ARE BACK! Residents at aged care homes will now be able to leave the home to attend group social outings and excursions, effective Friday 16 October 2020. Further information can be found here: https://sccqld.com.au//southern-cross-care-qlds-statement/

13.01.2022 CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN IN REVERSE: it's just like regular Halloween at Stretton Gardens Residential Aged Care, except that trick or treating comes straight to the residents! Resident Margaret dressed up and with the Lifestyle team, handed out the lollies.

11.01.2022 PINK RIBBON MORNING TEA: Yesterday our Parque Vista residents enjoyed a delicious spread of goodies to raise funds for breast cancer research. We are very excited to have raised over $1,100 to go directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Thank you to our residents for supporting this fundraiser and to all those who donated money and raffle prizes.

10.01.2022 WELCOME BACK VISITORS! As restrictions are eased across Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City and other locations, visitation will once again be allowed at residential aged care facilities. Find out more here: https://sccqld.com.au//southern-cross-care-qlds-statement/

10.01.2022 Last week The Australian newspaper interviewed our CEO Jason Eldering about the introduction of voluntary assisted dying laws (VAD) in Queensland, who said that VAD would put SCCQ in a difficult position due to our Catholic mission and values. We would not be willing to join the assisted dying process. We would help any of our clients or residents to move to a location where they wished to pursue the assisted dying process, but we would never intervene to cause death in our facilities, said Jason. At Southern Cross Care Qld, our guiding principle is valuing and respecting human life, to which we are committed to upholding.

07.01.2022 TIME FOR A FEAST: Over the past few months, our residents at Caloundra Residential Aged Care haven't been able to go out to enjoy one of their favourite takeaway foods. The solution? Bring the takeaway to our residents! The Chinese food was complemented with lanterns for a proper Chinese banquet.

05.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.... #remembranceday2020 #lestweforget See more
