25.01.2022 Some of our most enthusiastic writers had the chance to share their lockdown experiences and contribute to Moreton Bay Regional Council’s planning for how to provide services to children and families in event of future lockdowns. Gail Price from Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Community Development team along with Dayna Smith, Young Peoples Services Leader at Redcliffe library met with Scarborough Primary Campus students Miley Stirling, Chloe Hobbins and Martha Hore and their writing group co-ordinator Catherine Lunney to get an insight into their experiences of Covid-19.
24.01.2022 Some recent images taken with the Scanning Electron Microscope. There is so much more to explore other than just what is visible to the naked eye! No wonder our students love it when the SEM visits! #scccscience #inspireSTEMeducation
23.01.2022 Congratulations to the junior boys rugby league team who yesterday played in the Rugby League College Cup grand final against Mueller College. After training hard and being undefeated for the entire competition, they had a convincing win of 34 - 4. Special shout-out to Cody Starr and Marlin Lane for winning the coach's award and MVP player respectively. Students are already looking forward to preparations for next year's competition!

19.01.2022 A former student of Southern Cross was out walking this morning and captured this lovely shot of a rainbow over our Scarborough Primary campus. Thank you for sharing Kayleen
19.01.2022 Building works are taking shape at the secondary campus with the old staff room now back to its bare bones. We look forward to its transformation into the much anticipated Student Wellbeing Centre over the coming months.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to our Seniors of 2020. SCCC wishes you every happiness and success for your future, whichever path you travel. May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face,... The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. May God be with you and bless you: May you see your children’s children. May you be poor in misfortune, Rich in blessings. May you know nothing but happiness From this day forward. May the road rise up to meet you May the wind always be at your back May the warm rays of the sun fall upon your home And may the hand of a friend always be near. May green be the grass you walk on, May blue be the skies above you, May pure be the joys that surround you, May true be the hearts that love you. (Anonymous) See more
17.01.2022 Great things ARE possible. Embracing our theme for 2020, the secondary campus today celebrated elements of what should have been our Patron's Day which was cancelled in May. Firstly we gathered as a community for a liturgy, followed by our De La Dash cross country race and Highbeam talent show. Participation was phenomenal by all but the winning house for the day was Frawley House!!! Thank you to all students and staff for making our GTAP day so memorable, especially for our seniors.
16.01.2022 On Tuesday 3rd November, Year 6 students from our primary campuses and surrounding schools successfully participated in their Year 7 Orientation Day. Here they established connections with their future teachers and their senior buddies, formed new friendships with those who will be in their impending Year 7 peer group and became familiar with their Secondary campus. Much fun was had, engaging in many rewarding activities and experiences. We look forward to working with our 2021 Year 7 students.
16.01.2022 As part of a Potential Plus activity Year 8 girls had the opportunity to see themselves as the problem solvers of the future in the Academy for Enterprising Girls Tech Girls session. This is part of a federal government initiative to get more young women thinking of themselves as innovators, entrepreneurs and problem solvers of the future. Working on an online platform they identified issues affecting our world before narrowing it down to our local community and issues that... they cared about or impacted them and designed an app which could help solve some of these issues. These girls had no idea what they were capable of before this workshop and it was amazing to hear and see their confidence build. They have the opportunity to develop their enterprising girl skills over the summer with the next step of the program and we plan to follow up next year with more challenges and competition. Well done to everyone for enthusiasm and stepping up to a big challenge. #potentialplus #techgirls2020

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 11 Science student Charlotte Grant who has secured a place in the 10 day residential camp of the 2021 National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) at the Australian National University, Canberra. With the support of #redclifferotaryclub Charolotte will gain a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). Ella Babarovich, 2020 recipient, will also join the 2021 recipients as she was unable to attend at the start of this year due to the bushfire disasters. We wish Ella and Charlotte the best learning experiences possible. #unwaveringinourpursuit #scccscience #NYSF2021
10.01.2022 Years 7 and 9 Formation lessons recently focused on RESPECT. Students were challenged to consider - 'What does it look like, sound like and feel like at Southern Cross Catholic College?' Year 7s from Frawley House got creative and produced the pics below! Well done to all students.
07.01.2022 Scarborough Primary Campus are doing their bit to save Queensland native fish species. They have installed a solar powered fish tank to assist the breeding program of the fish species known as the Honey Blue-Eye. These fish are endangered due to human impact in waterways and our hope is to turn the 10 Honey Blue-Eyes we have received into 100s. Our students will be responsible for feeding the fish as well as taking photos and sending our progress to the 'Fish in Schools' Program.
07.01.2022 Attention Years 10 and 11 students! An information session will be held next Monday afternoon regarding university excellence programs and TAFE qualifications whilst at school. Details below. Registration essential for students and parents.
07.01.2022 Who can believe Christmas is just around the corner? Our Scarborough Primary Preppies showed us what the Christmas season is all about when they shined on stage and performed the Christmas story. Some little stars in the making!
07.01.2022 A year of challenges and obstacles was forgotten last night when our Year 12s finally celebrated their formal. Although not like previous formals, students embraced the restrictions and shared a great night with friends. Ladies looked elegant and gents looked dapper. Hopefully is was an evening they will remember for a long time.
07.01.2022 For the past seven weeks, a number SCCC secondary students have been a part of QUT's Entrepreneurship pilot program, ITERATE. Teams worked with QUT STEM Ambassadors to identify a problem and use design thinking to identify and pitch a solution to be judged by QUT alumni. Year 10 students Nicole Quigg, Jake McCallum, Ben Holmes, Ryan Miotti, Leo Favaretto, Vytautas Jasinskas and Jack Magill didn’t hesitate when the opportunity was presented to them. For several challenging... weeks the students showed commitment, perseverance and determination which paid off both in experience and outcome. Nicole, Jake, Ben, Ryan and Leo’s team won the challenge with their solution for lunchbox waste. Vytautas and Jack are a notable mention for their incredible effort too. The skills these students learned and demonstrated in the final pitch are a foundation for future success in a volatile and uncertain world. Thank you to QUT for offering us this amazing opportunity for our students. #unwaveringinourpursuit #qutiterate #sccc
07.01.2022 Best of luck to all our Year 12 students who commenced exams today and to Year 11 students who commence tomorrow. We are sure your hard work, determination and focus will hold you in good stead. Good luck to you all!

04.01.2022 Unwavering in our pursuit - QUT 2020 STEM Camp Two of our very determined Year 11 Senior Science students, Niamh Prunty and Georgia Cullen, will participate in the 2020 QUT STEM camp between 28th September and 2nd October at QUT Gardens Point Campus. The camp provides high-achieving Year 11 science students with an exciting opportunity to attend an interactive week-long engaging activity in solving some of the major challenges facing our society and planet. Niamh will be work...ing with world leading QUT researchers in using an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system that utilises drones and infrared imaging to count koala populations. The system will be used to automate the detection of koalas and contribute to koala conservation, critically important after recent devastating bushfires in Australia. Georgia will be working with a group of ingenious young scientists modelling the Mars 2020 mission from launch in July 2020 through to collecting samples to test for signs of life using Rover’s robotic arm. Her group will apply a transdisciplinary approach combining physics, chemistry, rocket science and aerospace, robotics and Python programming, geology and material science to embark on interdisciplinary travel and to test for macroscopic biosignatures of past life. The camp provides learning opportunities for Niamh and Georgia in collaboration, data science, critical thinking and problem solving. It will also reinforce the desires of Niamh and Georgia to pursue careers in STEM. We wish them all the best in their camping experience. I expect the camp to provide clarity towards my future endeavours in the STEM fields, Georgia. I'm looking forward to collaborative work with accomplished scientists and like minded students who share my passion in the STEM fields, Niamh.

03.01.2022 Year 7 students challenged fellow secondary students to support Catholic Mission's Socktober today, to 'Sock it to poverty' and engage with developing world issues through sport. A House v House penalty shoot out was held along with a cupcake stall and the wearing of favourite team jerseys, all to raise funds for the work Catholic Mission does to support vulnerable children around the world. 02.01.2022 Always was. Always will be. This is the NAIDOC theme for 2020 which recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Thank you to our Garanyali dance group from both the primary and secondary campuses, who today performed proudly in front of the secondary campus community and will perform before the primary campuses later in the week. #NAIDOC2020 #unwaveringinourpursuit
