04.01.2022 Our first virtual rehearsal for The Little Things - Scratch Quartets. Across Australia, USA, Canada, Scotland and Switzerland, the music is being downloaded and... the learning tracks are being sent out. Sign up here if you wish to join in: https://www.trybooking.com/BJHDJ What is The Little Things - Scratch Quartets? Have you wanted to sing in a quartet? Do you sing in a quartet? Or you don't sing in a quartet and just want to sing, yes? Then keep reading. Winning her second prize in the Sweet Adelines International Bursting With Song competition in 2018, Glenda Lloyd wrote and arranged The Little Things, dedicated to her wife Jennifer, who passed away after a courageous fight last year. Using this song (there could be none more appropriate at the moment) the plan is to give us something to work on while were in isolation, learn our parts but more importantly, it is something to bring us together when this is over, something to look forward to, to celebrate The Little Things that have got us through; our music, our harmony and our friendships at scratch quartet events. Once you have registered you will need to purchase a copy of the music from the SAI website US$3.20 per copy (Ill send you the links) and when you have the music, I will send you the learning tracks (by Joanne Oosterhoff) which Glenda has very generously offered to give us for free. We are so lucky to have such amazingly talented and generous members in our region, thank you Glenda and Joanne. Already there are some new friendships emerging from our time in isolation.

01.01.2022 Vale Sheila Whitson. Beautiful friend and past member of Southern Sounds Chorus, Sheila Whitson passed away yesterday. One of the early members of the Chorus when it was called Mornington Bay Chorus, she sang tenor, often the only tenor! Sheila sang in a quartet, 'Shirazz' with three Chorus Members until a few months ago and was a regular at Melbourne's jazz clubs until recently. She will be sadly missed by all.
