14.01.2022 SCCC AFL BIG DAY OUT Boys Competition The SCCC boys started their 2020 AFL campaign in emphatic fashion, with a victory over catholic rivals Good Shepherd 23-0. The next task was to take on Hermit Park 2, who were no match for our boys going down 22-0. After lunch Magnetic Island provided some great competition, but couldnt match the intensity of our mid-fielders as the boys rolled on to the grand final. In what can only be described as a nail biting game against Hermit Pa...rk 1, the score at full-time 26-26 took the Townsville AFL Cup to its first ever extra-time grand final. After 10 minutes of play, the SCCC boys lost by 1 point. A fantastic effort considering it was the majority of the teams first AFL game. BIG THANKS to Mr Purcell for running training sessions all term. Unfortunately he was unable to attend the carnival so Mr Knight took the reins of the mighty SC bulldogs for the day. Mr Knights man of the match awards - Jacob Small, Harry Jones, Jake Dennis and Tyson Althofer. Well done boys! Girls Competition Winners are grinners! It was big smiles all round for our first ever girls AFL champions. The SCCC girls contested strongly all day against some solid competition, but eventually their skill-set saw them claim their maiden AFL Cup. Well done Mrs Bennett and girls for representing our college with pride and determination. The future of AFL at Southern Cross looks in good hands!

02.01.2022 Yesterday, on RU OK? Day, we took the time to check in on each other and to learn about how important it is to have conversations with others about how theyre going. We can take the time to emphasise positive coping strategies when we are having difficulties. By looking out for each other, we can stay connected, we can ask if others are OK and we can learn about what to say after we ask, RU OK? The Year 11 Business class organised and ran a wonderful meaningful event, that s...tarted on Monday and will finish today. We had our very own RU OK? Day song written and produced by our talented teachers, Mr De Luca and Mr Penna and sung by our very own students, Charlie Crook and Jin Torrington. We shared our positive messages with each other through the use of positive postcards, played sport together, shared a free sausage sizzle and were entertained by our super talented musicians from Years 7 through to 12.
